I usually don't get excited over things like this, but this time is different. *drumroll* I have found the PERFECT lipstick. It's Clinique's Different Lipstick in Sweet Honey. I love it! Now, I am on my quest for the perfect eyeshadow. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif So, I guess my question to you all is: What is your favorite make-up?

I love Clinique's Sweet Honey! I hate wearing really dark make up and Sweet Honey is perfect because it's a such a natural color. I usually wear it with Clinique's Neutralizer lipliner.

Well, in this same topic - how about some makeup advice. I have really fair skin. Think milk. I have tried everything - tanning beds were the biggest disappointment. I didn't even burn! Anyway - I've pretty much got the makeup thing down, although it took forever to find base that was light enough. I still have to get the lightest liquid I find and dilute it with water! Ugh! But, I can't find a lipstick, I'm a redhead, so pinks look stupid, and everything beside pink is too dark. So, you all mention these fancy-shmansy brands - would any of these maybe work for me?? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

Hey guys!!!
I work for Clinique. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Sweet Honey and Tenderheart are great colors.
We're coming out with some new colors in March.

I use Prescriptives Custom Blend. Being a minority, it's hard to find colors that match our skin tone exactly, so I have my foundtion, concealer, and powder custom blended for me. I've been wearing it for over 10 years now. As for lipstick, I somehow end up making my own colors. I buy one color, blend it with another I have, and then top it off with another, and poof! I have my own shade!

hey shopgirl,
that is so cool that you get to work for clinique. I love tender heart because its not dark and just gives you a natural look like ZTAngel said. I got one of your new shades that will come out in March. My mom and I got to choose which one we wanted and we both got Shy. Its a pretty color, just too dark for me as an everyday shade. Maybe for the night time it will work http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Allie -- I sympathize with you because i am in the same boat. I always end up buying foundation or powder that is way too dark for me so it looks like my face got a tan but the rest of my body didnt. Have you tried any from Clinique? I recently found one that matched my skin tone exactly. Its fair, but also pinkish so it worked! I think its called Stay Ivory. You should really go there and check it out. I am a brunette, my hair is SOOO dark i cant stand it, so anything that goes on my face (such as eyeshadow, blush, or lipstick) really stands out, so i have to be careful when i pick colors out. Anyway, i hope this helps you out a little, you are not alone!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Allie, bucutie, ya'll are just like me - pale! I have been using Clinque's Stay Ivory for years now, since I was about 14. Its great, although, sometimes, its a little more ivory than I need, depending on how much I've been outside or not. I also use Clinique's Tenderheart lip gloss.
I'm one of those people that just tends to use whatever comes with the bonus, unless its *really* a bad color for me.
Allie, have you tried a coral color? Corals are pretty neutral and look good on most people.

Try Origins..also made by Lauder (Clinique, Prescriptives). Natural ingredients, great colors and less expensive than the other Lauder brands.

Okay I am totally swamped, but I am a make-up junkie!! I don't wear a lot but I sure do end up with a lot!! Mostly through free bonuses!!
I love Clinique's City Stick -- goes on perfectly with NO LINES and not at all [as my husband puts it] "pie crusty" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Clinique's yellow moisturizer goes on from head to toe -- love it! Their quickliner eyeliner is awesome -- it stays put all day! (Violet is my fav shade, but I'm a brunette with fair skin and bright blue/green eyes). Their eyeshadow in "Shameless" is perfect. You can put it on darker for evening or just a bit for daytime. LOVE IT! And who can resist "Happy" -- I should work for Clinique as much as I buy it....
By the way, Shopgirl, please tell every manager you ever come into contact with that WE DON'T WANT ANY MORE STUPID BAGS -- MORE MAKEUP SAMPLES, PLEASE!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I could decorate my house inside and out with those things!! It was funny, because I filled out a survey whenever it came out, and a response was "No more bags, please" (ie, it was printed on the card for you to check) -- ever since then I've noticed they have been giving a bag AND a matching change purse...hahaha -- guess I'm alone http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Allie, I too would recommend Perscriptives for you -- as much as I love Clinique, my mother can't use it because her skin tone just doesn't match anything, but Perscriptives hooked her up with the perfect everything!

AXO Alum-- I hear ya on that yellow moisturizer, LOVE it!!
Now i had a question about eye liner. Well first off, let me just say that i only use foundation, powder, eye shadow, mascara (some days) blush and lipstick. Okay well now that i actually typed all of that out, it sounds like a lot- but it all looks natural and i dont look like a clown. Anyway, my concern is that i never ever wear eye liner. The only times i attempt to put it on is if i am going somewhere really nice and its at night. It always comes out looking bad, and i feel i dont look good in it. Does anyone have any suggestions about maybe how to put it on, or any tricks? I dont even own an eyeliner at the moment, but my first thought was going to clinique and buying one. Also, what about the color? is black one that works on everyone?? thanks!

I hardly wear any make-up, just a little mascara and who can beat Cover Girl or Maybelline for that? For nighttimes, parties or special occassions, I always go with MAC. The reason is that I feel so comfortable with the people. They sit me down, take as much time as it takes to find what is right for me and what I like, plus they make a point of not testing on animals and being environmentally friendly, so that's a bonus. However, I feel like I should branch out and discover other beautiful make-ups. I also love Happy by Clinique and after all the wonderful recs on this site, I will definitely go there to look for lipstick and eyeshadow, which I badly need. Thanks for the advice everyone!

I hardly wear any makeup to work, cause boy is my job slack (I'm talking ripped jeans slack). But if I'm going anywhere else I'll 'do it up'! My Faves-
Foundation- MAC Studio Fix
Lip Gloss- MAC Lip Glass (Clear or Desire)
Plus I love MACs lip pencils.
Lip Stick- Made by anyone!!! I just pick up any color I like.
Eye Shadow (when I wear it)- Hard Candy (it's good and doesn't crease)
Moisturizer- I use Cetaphil moisturizer and cleanser (every day!). It works so good and my skin is really clean and soft.

That is actually something I am pretty good at. I use Loreal Pencil Perfect in Pewter. What you do id get in front of a mirror and pull at the corner of you eye until it is thin and squinty. Then you line your eye as close to the lash. You make have to practice to get it right - so I recommend having makeup remover nearby. You can wear pretty much any eyeshadow with that color, but you must - I repeat must - wear black mascara. And I recommend curling your lashes before you start putting your eyeliner on.
Anyway, other people may do it differently. No one ever taught me how to put on makeup. I am self taught - just imagine I was looking in the early ears! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif
Thanks for the advice! I have five tests this week. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif So Friday after my last test, I'm going to go reward myselt with some new makeup! Woo hoo!

Jeez, I've tried make up all around. I do prefer Clinique products. However, I just don't like make up.
I like eyeliner (Clinique, of course!). I've yet to find a mascara that makes any significant difference, so I don't use that. I love the color of my lips, so I just use some clear gloss to keep em shiny. And every time I put make up on my skin (like foundation) I think it just dulls the natural glow of my skin. So I only use some translucent powder (Clinique, of course!) to take away any shine in the summer.
The only product I truly love is concealer. What a great idea!! When I do get the occassional pimple or not enough sleep (i.e. bags and dark circles), I just tap on a bit of concealer (Clinique, of course!)
So, cinique is my favorite.

I have noticed that some of our gifts are now coming in purse shaped boxes, instead of bags. Our next gift, in April, is. In fact, Estee Lauder's gift is in a box too (their recent one anyway). However, the gifts vary from store to store, so it's hard to make a general statment. I don't care for them either. I keep them until they get dirty, then they get the boot. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Fianlly! A subject I love! Just a thought for redheads, my best friend is a red head.. don't use any shimmery lipsticks if you are going for a natural look it will make you look washed out.. but, you could use a lipgloss.... the best colors for everyone are Clinique's (are you surprised there?) Airkiss and Shy... they are both light and when you put them on... they make your pout absolutely gorgeous. Another thing, be careful about lipliners, most are either really pink or really red, go for neutral, they usually look nude. For some really great colors and lipsticks, believe it or not Bath and Body Works has some really great lipsticks that stay on a long time.
A subject no one has mentioned, though.. I have had severe acne since 6th grade.. I am talking people used to ask if I had chicken pox!! It was so humiliating. I hated it. I went to a dermotologist and he prescribed stuff.. it was expensive, smelly and didn't work. I tried everything.. I even went so far as to pay eighty dollars every other month for a treatment that only sorta worked. My cousin came to town last summer and told me to try Cliniques 3 Step. I found out my problem... really oily skin AND it is sensitive, which is hard to take care of. So, I ended up having to get type 3 without the yellow moisturizer instead I had to get Moisture in Control... I LOVE IT!!! It has NO Oil in it which is good... and it absorbs it which is even better. I Have actually gone out without foundation on for the first time in 10 years!!! I love it! My skin is soft and great.. I will never buy makeup from anyone but Clinique! If you have acne, they will help you!! You may have to try a few combos but it is well worth it!

I love the quickliner eyeliner from Clinique because it has a tip for smudging (which I also use for those oopsy mistakes), and it goes on SO SMOOTHLY with no dragging or pulling. So usually, one quick line across and it is perfect. I suggest going to the counter and making an appt. to have your makeup done -- they are really helpful and watch you do it so they can teach you the right way. I also LOVE the brow liner with the built in brush -- the best eyebrow pencil I have ever used!!
**Shopgirl** thanks for the bag advice - glad to know I'm not alone! I just want more makeup!!
As for the moisturizer -- it is great for those icky red shaving bumps that you get!
About lipstick -- the only non-Clinique product I use actually because I just haven't found any that really stay on -- I have fallen in love with the Wal-Mart special "Rimmel - Stay On Lipstick" and boy does it ever! "Mai Tai" is my fav shade. The only drawbacks -- it stinks (in the tube that is), and it goes on dry, but I always wear Chapstick anyway, so that doesn't matter. But it is the VERY FIRST lipstick that I have ever used completely. I have a lot of half tubes here and there. And a lot of one-time used tubes (mostly from Clinique bonuses), but this is the first one I've completely used.
I hate lipliner -- I think it always looks so fake especially when your lipstick is gone, and you have these big clown lips outlined with no color http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Plus, I don't have 6 hours to stand around trying to get perfect lines around my imperfect lips.
Okay -- back to work...ZetaAce -- its great to hear from you -- I was missing you http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Gosh I should be doing my homework....LOL...BUT I just love makeup so much I just have to chime in!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
About redhead's makeup...well, I read in various mags that redheads look best with lipstick colors which are about one or twoshades darker than your hair color. It doesn't matter whether it is chemcically processed or not--just if you have red hair, it is best to match a similar lipstick color to it which is one shade darker, because if you go any paler, you will look washed out. However, I don't know what lippie color you would choose if you had dark red hair!!
Also I read that redheads look best with auburnmascara, i.e. Max Factor's 2000 Calorie in Auburn (?? something to that nature). It said that black mascara is too harsh for a redhead. I hope this helps you!
To the girl that wrote about her problem with eyeliner, I feel ya girl!! I have the exact same problem too http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif I know that eye liner is supposed to make you look better...for me it makes me look worse! I have also applied it correctly too http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif For some reason, it makes my eyes look tired instead of bright and alert. However, I find that I look very nice in black liquid eyeliner! It looks best as a thin line which is slightly winged out at the corners. However, I only reserve this look for nighttime!
Clinique lovers, I LOVE the Brow Shaper! I have it in Charcoaled--which is the BEST match I have ever found for my black hair! It actually makes my brows look natural for once LOL! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif I also love their Naturalizer Lip Pencil. have any of you tried this, too? It is the best lip pencil IMO!! I've always hated lipliners--made my lips look fake and over-drawn...but naturalizer really gives my lips a "my lips but better" look!!!! Give it a try, you guys won't be disapopinted! It also makes a wonderful base for lipstick http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
I also love their lipsticks...so wonderfully moist!!!! I love thier Sweet Honey and Blushing Buff Lippies...perfect natural rosey colors! I also love their blushes! For my very hard-to-match Asian skin, their blushes actually look natural and give me a glow! Hehee http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I have their blush in Chestnut.
Shopgirl, you are so lucky to work for Cliniq1ue! Was it hard for you to get into the profession? I admire all the Clinique SA/MA's...you guys have these wonderfully classic and natural makeup looks which i adore http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Alrightey now, my fave makeup!
BLUSH-Clinique Chestnut; all other blushes i have tried (from drugstores to MAC to stila) all look bad on me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif
MASCARA-CG Professional in Black--actually makes my lashes look visible for once!! LOL
LIPSTICK-Clinique Sweet Honey, Blushing Buff, L'oreal Brazil Nut (a wonderful medium brown creme)
LIPGLOSS-MAC Lipglass hands down.
NAIL COLORS-most suit me fine, but my faves have got to be L'oreal's Jet Set and Maybelline's Express finish--both dry quickly and last long...easy to apply...wonderful colors...great smooth finish!
EYESHADOWS-shadows from Stila and MAC--including: MAC Brule (a great buff base), MAC Patina (a very sheer bronzey-ish color...very natural), Stila Moonlight (wonderful shimmery light color), and Stila Delauney (warm goldish-whitish color...wonderful for brightening the eyes!)
MOISTURIZER/SPF: The only SPF which has worked for my horribly-allergic skin is Cetaphil Moisturizer SPF 15! Great even for my acne-prone, oily skin.
wonderful topic, sorry so long! happy makeup shopping! LOL

It was actually LUCK that got me the position. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I use to work for Origins in the same store I now work for Clinique in. Well, I moved away for a year and when I decided to come back there happened to be a position available. The same people still worked there so it made it much easier for me. If you go to www.clinique.com (http://www.clinique.com) I believe they list job openings. Also, I work for Dillard's and they do the same thing. I'm sure other companies list job openings too. It's really a matter of timing. It's a great job to have while I'm in school. The pay is pretty good and they work with your schedule. Plus there are oppurtunities to move up in the company too. I'm not certain what it is I want to do, but I suppose I could go that route. If you're interested just check out your local department stores and the websites.

Just some advice for people who haven't had luck with eyeliner...
People who have what is called a "shelf brow" may be better off without lining their top lashes. A shelf brow is when you have your eyes open to their normal degree and your eyelids are completely hidden. You'll notice that your browbone sticks out a little underneath your eyebrows. So, if this is the case, try just lining your bottom lashes, either all the way across or only 3/4 of the way. You can also try lining your top lashes if you really want to, but I would recommend that you only go 1/2 or 3/4 of the way across, otherwise your eye will actually appear to be more closed.
Hope this helps!

Here's a makeup question for y'all....
I recently got glasses, and I feel like I no longer have any eyes. I usually try to stay very neutral on makeup, especially on my eyes, because I have those kind of eyes where almost the whole lid shows, even though my eyes are completely open. But I need to do something!!! Any advice on bringing them out from behind my lenses?
P.S. I can sympathize with you other pale girls...I am very fair skinned with auburn-y hair. The best foundation I've found so far, is of all things, Cover Girl's lightest shade. It matches me perfectly!

If you are nearsighted you need to go heavier on the eye makeup than you usually would. Lots and lots of mascara. You will probably feel like Tammy Faye Bakker when the specs are off http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif but once they're on it will look normal. The lenses to correct nearsightedness "un-magnify" your eyes.
The pain in the butt is trying to get the eye makeup on straight without your glasses on (when your vision is as bad as mine, that is).

02-24-2001, 11:10 PM
Hi! I am nearsighted too, but I have contacts. When I wear my glasses though, I wear lots and lots of mascara, as a previous poster said!! It looks great through glasses...just make sure you have NO clumps or globs...it does tend to look like spiderwebs through lenses! Also groom your brows, since glasses will put the focus on your eyebrows too http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Another thing that I read in a magazine: put a vanilla-colored eyeshadow from lid to brow, since it really helps to open up the eye. Also you can try lining your eyes (a thin line please, since a thick one will close up the eyes!). The magazine said not to put any more makeup than that, since it will start to look a bit "scary" through the lenses.
I hope I have helped you at least a little! And, yes, it is hard to see the makeup when putting it on, esp. coming from a VERY nearsighted gal like me! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
For all Clinique users out there, can you describe to me Sugared Grapefruit Lipstick? It sounds so intriguing!!!

I'm off to dig through my makeup collection to put some of these suggestions to work!
(edited to say) I know what you mean about getting the makeup on straight. you know it's bad when you have to get so close to the mirror that you keep hitting it with the eyeliner pencil.

After seeing all of the Clinique fans on the board, I had to try it for myself. I hadn't ever used Clinique before, so I went to the website and had a little shopping spree! It was worth it though!

I love Clinique and Estee Lauder for good makeup, but as far as drugstore makeup goes I'm a big Revlon fan. They seem to have much better looking colors than any of the other drugstore brands. They also are really good with makeup trends each season.
Has anyone else tried Rimmel stuff? It's new, I think, and you can only get it at Walmart but it's really cute stuff and it's incredibly cheap. It doesn't look cheesy like Wet 'n' Wild or anything but it's around the same price range.

okay well yesterday they were having a clinique bonus time at Foley's. I think it will be there until March 17. Its like an alligator print round bag, and it brought a "mini" identical bag inside. Its more like a coin purse. Anyway- it also brought a mini moisturizing lotion (the yellow one), mascara, eyeshadow (its called ballerina i think, its a pretty pink color), a sample of clinique happy, some "eye" lifter thingy, a little bottle of clinique happy, and a lipstick with two colors. I think it was sweet honey and double fudge or something!
You had to purchase 16.50 or more, so i bought the eyeshadow duo, Ash Violets- and i must say i LOVE those colors!! and i also bought that quick eyeliner in violet. The one that brings that little brush like on the other end. So since i have eyeliner problems, i decided to buy one and experiment! wish me luck!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

However, I don't know what lippie color you would choose if you had dark red hair!!
Also I read that redheads look best with auburnmascara, i.e. Max Factor's 2000 Calorie in Auburn (?? something to that nature). It said that black mascara is too harsh for a redhead. I hope this helps you
THANK YOU SAMMIE!!! I'm gonna try that! I had read that in a mag way back, but I had forgotten all about it! I'm a chemically processed redhead http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif.
*MidwestDiva* How do you like the MoistureinControl now? I've heard so many raves about it (I have oily skin); I was wondering if it was worth the price! Hope you guys are still reading this--it's been a long time I guess since the last post!

Hey brooklineu! Check out your thread in the Cool Sites forum, I, and a couple other ppl left some messages for you!!
I totally agree with you about the liners--both eye and lip. They are mostly the same ingredients anyway! My favortie eye liner is from L'oreal, Revlon makes some great ones too. Also, MASCARA oulght to be drugstoer, since you ought to replace it every 3 months anyway! Some drugstore brands IMHO beat out dept. store brands! i myself am partial to Maybelline's Great lash.
For lipstick--ughh L'oreal and revlon's scent make me nauseous http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif. I don't mind Maybelline's, go figure! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif but I HAVE found the perfect lip liner through Clinique, which I never found at a drugstore. The lipliner is called "Neutralizer." It's the perfect "your lips" but better.
As for the Paula Begoun book--she does give great advice, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE always take things with a grain of salt! I've heard she hasn't tried 90% of the products that she reviews! Plus, I've heard she touts her own brand of makeup--so don't always believe everything she says, some makeup Im sure is fabulous though she may not think so! For example, I love Maybelline Great Lash. Some people agree with me, some people hate it. So I think makeup, like many things in life, is subjective!

i LOVE makeup too!! my favorites are:
ol skool trio by hard candy
roach lipstick, and gash, bruise and maiden lip gunk (lip gloss) by urban decay (check out their website at http://www.urbandecay.com http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif )
i love all things mac: i love the lip glass (clear, oh baby and explicit), the lipstick (i have so many but my favs are cyber, icon, film noir, myth, relic, and media), the lip pencils (chestnut and currant), eye liner (ebony), and eye shadow (camel, courduroy).
i also like bobby brown essentials eye shadow (toast and mahogany) and they have
a real pretty lipstick called "beige gold shimmer"
*a tip for lining the eye*
depending on your eye shape, you might not always want to line the entire eye lid. if you want to diminish the size of large eyes, line the whole eye. if you have almond shaped eyes, just line the corner of the eye, top and bottom, and connect the lines at the end (i'm speaking of the end of the eye below the tail of the eyebrow). if you have small eyes, don't use liner. instead use a real light eyeshadow to line the eyes. also, some people don't look good using a pencil so i recommend getting a small brush and using eye shadow instead. it makes it softer. you can also use a liner and eye shadow combined to make the line look a little more natural.

bubbles17,
I ended up returning the Moistureincontrol for a similar product made by Clarins, because it smelled better. It didn't really make a big difference so I tried the product made by Lancome, still no big difference. I have realigned my budget (read, getting cheap) that means no more YSL or Lancome. But I still want those CD Plastic Shine lipglosses. I am using an oil free alpha hydroxy acid moisturizer from Kiss My Face (I'm on a health food store kick). My lipstick of the moment is Iman's Black Brandy (so I can support the sistas). I will probably use more of her line. And I like L'Oreals lipliners and Voluminous mascara. Lancome still makes the best mascaras but since L'Oreal is really the same company, Voluminous is close enough. I read in a lot of magazines that most professional make-up artists like Great Lash, but I just can't get past that ugly packaging (no offense AKAs and DZs http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif). L'Oreal lipsticks are pretty good, but I can't stand Revlon (tastes bad) or Maybelline (too waxy).

I just love makeup!!!! I modeled in college and my favorite part was the makeup!!! Then later after I got married I worked for Lancome, which in my honest opinion is more for older ladies, but it was nice stuff.
Right now I am hooked on Bobbi Brown...I got a terrific Apricot blush that is perfect for my skin (I have a mediterranean complexion, dark brown hair, dark brown eyes) and the best lipstick in the world, Raisin!!! I also got a fabulous blush brush that makes all the difference. I am not thrilled with the foundation though....it is oil free and is a bit too matte...it starts to go matte and flat before you even have it blended, so it is harder to work with. My favorite foundation is the new Clinique, I forget the name, it is for combination skin.
Word of advice for the girls asking about eyeshadow---you can never never go wrong with neutrals, no matter what your coloring. Just match the darkness to your skin's darkness. I use a light wash of cream or sand colored shadow over the whole eye, then dark brown on the lid and in the crease. Brown liner on the upper lid and a coat or two of black mascara does it.
By the way, the best mascara is Maybelline Great Lash....all the pros use it and there is a reason.

By the way if you have straight hair that isn't in the best shape, try the new line from Herbal Essences. I have long hair that I have been growing out from perm and color, and the ends are still pretty fried but I am unwilling to lose the length. I have tried everything, but the new line of intensive products from Herbal Essences rock! I got the replenishing shampoo, the intensive conditioning balm and the leave in conditioner (I just use that on the ends)...my hair hasn't looked this nice in months. (And I was using expensive salon brands too!!)

Allie ~ Have you tried a cosmetics line called "Prescriptives"? Pricewise, its a bit on the steep side but the consulatants do something called "color printing" where they analyze your skintone and recommend that you choose products from one of their three color groups based on that. They have a fantastic selection of lipsticks and glosses and I'm sure if you go there you can find something that will look great on you! I'm not sure where you are, but some department stores that might carry Prescriptives include Nordstrom, Hechts, Macy's or Belk.

Getting away from Clineque, who I'm mad at right now... What does everyone think of Perscriptives? It was recomended to me a long time ago because they custom blend colors for you & I have such fair skin that most foundation is to dark for me. I've never been but want to. It's kind of scary going up to a counter where you've never been. Depending on what yall say, maybe I'll get the nerve. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Thanks

Heidi, I am a big believer in Prescriptives and I highly recommend that you give it a try. Not only will the custom blended foundation match your skin so much better than anything else you've tried, but you can also specify the amount of coverage, if you want it oil free or moisturizing, etc. One thing I definitely recommend is that you make an appointment because, at least in the store where I shop, there isn't always a Prescriptives consultant working and the people from other lines who cover the counter aren't trained to do the colorprinting (which helps determine the correct colors for you)
Best wishes!

I love makeup http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif! Visit www.icompact.com (http://www.icompact.com) - such a great place for reviews of makeup, hair care, sknicare, etc. plus such an awesome messageboard!!!!!
Though I wear very little makeup (concealer and mascara) on a day-to-day basis, I definitely have some faves:
Fave e/s - Stila (though expensive!) I have the colors Pewter (dark grey/black, great for lining) and a very subtle light baby blue named "popova" that is sooo amazing - usually i won't wear color, but this subtle (can't even really tell it's baby blue) color brings out my dark eyes!
Fave mascara - Neutrogena Full Length Defining - though it smudges http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif. However, it gives me the most amazing long lashes!
Fave concealer - Maybelline Shine Free (heard it was discontinued though http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif) - only color that fit my skintone!
Fave lippies - MAC, Clinique, Stila (though overpriced IMO), and also the new CoverGirl Outlast Lipcolor (the color Forever Fawn is soooo awesome on me - I've found the best lipcolor http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif!)
Fave blush - I wear Clinique on special occasions!
For the eyebrows - I like Clinique Browshaper

OK now I have a question, since I said my fave mascara smears on me by the end of the day http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif, how have you gals dealed with the smudges???
Have you guys ever tried sealers like EL's Raincoat (which is supposed to waterproof lashes), or Benefit's sealer which supposedly makes the lips, brows, and eyes waterproof?

I have naturally long eyelashes, so whenever i wear mascara they look really fake. I only wear mascara on special occasions, and even then i dont put any on the bottom lashes. What i do use is cover girl clear mascara. It works great for an everyday use. It doesnt make them thick like black mascara does, but it just gives them an extra "umph"! It says it can also be used to tame your brows, but i never use them for that. Newbie, maybe you should give that a try if you havent already and save the "real" mascara only for special occassions.
Does anyone know if Clinique makes a clear mascara?
Speaking of new makeup findings.... recently i was in clinique looking for blush and i wanted a new shade. I am very fair skinned so in order for the blush to look natural i have to buy light colors. This time, however, i wanted to get like a rosy color because i wanted to create the "flushed" or "just came back from working out look", and i found this kind of cream blush. They didnt have it on display for everyone to see, but the lady showed me a box of samples she had. The color i got is called Rosy Blush and you basically can put it on with your finger or cotton ball. It comes in a small compact- and i recommend. Its different from the regular blush and i love the color. They also had a gel blush, but i didnt like they very much.
BTW, i got an email from clinique about two days ago, and they are selling a pink fluffy purse from Legally Blonde. I really want to buy it, but its 35 dollars, and i dont know if i would actually wear it out in public! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I've read about Urban Decay makeup a lot, so I decided to try it. They sell directly from their site, but were sold out of the "Face Case" I wanted. I ended up ordering from sephora.com The two face cases I got were rockstar and first date to pin-up. The face cases come with 4 eye shadows, 4 lip sticks, and a blush all designed to mix and match. The rockstar has a pink, purple, black and shimmery nude for the eyes. I got it because I can't turn down pink, and I didn't think I'd wear it much. Turns out that I love it! It's edgey-er than I'm used to but I have no problem changing my look a bit. It actually matches my messy shag that I just got. The 1st date to pin up case is browns and neutrals but it's too heavy looking on me, so I rarely wear it. The lip colors are mostly their "lip gunks" which are flavored glosses. Those are great too! I really recomend Urban Decay to anyone. I'm going to order more soon. I really wish it was sold here, my mom's an impulse buyer & I'd be stocked in no time.

Bucutie, thanks for your advice! But, yes, I've tried clear mascaras and also, you know, those "lash darkeners," for example - Cover Girl makes that, and so does Origins...but they do nothing for me! Hopefully someone will tell me if they've tried those sealers before http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. Also Bucutie, I LOVE those creamblushes that you mentioned which are from Clinique!!!!! I have the one in Natural - and it looks awesome on!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I also like their powder blushes, too.
BTW, Bucutie, to see if Clinique sells a clear mascara (which I don't think they do - I don't remember hearing of it), log on to www.clinique.com (http://www.clinique.com) - pretty cool website there, tells you which colors are supposedly your best! (Though for me, experimenting is the best way of choosing the "best" color - recommendations sometimes don't work for me!)
Also, about Urban Decay - I love their Lipgunks! Very cool...I also love their sparkly eyeliners http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif!

urbandecay.com They didn't have the newest colors for sale there when I ordered about 2 months ago. Why? I don't know. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif
sephora.com This is who I ordered from, I think they have the entire line.

i have to agree w/ sigmagrrl about not being able to find the perfect shade as a minority. I have to check out prescriptives now. currently i am using maybelline true illusion concealer in dark beige (and even that is not really the 'perfect' shade), and i love estee lauder lipstick in cinammon stick. that is so far the most natural looking, perfect lipstick for me. i experiment a lot w/ different colors of clinique eyeshadow as well.
i don't use foundation, but before i apply my makeup i use estee lauder's spotlight skin tone perfector. it gives u this nice glow http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
