Ok, I go and post something about the so-cal fires ,and when it posted I was reading it I look down and my Alpha Phi and other signatures was not there. WHO deleted it? It has been there since 2002.......that is editing of my own signature/work and no one has that right since it has been there for a long time and it is not offensive.

There was a signature overhaul a few months ago and all signatures were reset. There's a line/content limit now (though I can't remember what it is off the top of my head). Do a search and you'll see the announcement from John.

It was deleted and replaced with a generic one, not edited. So no one touched your precious work. It just left the building. Make a new one, check the FAQ for the rules.

I believe there were emails about this in advance of it happening too in order to warn everyone. There were, as well as notices in various forums. It happened back in early July. This notice (http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/showthread.php?t=88124) in the AKA Forum saved the email from John.
"GreekChat.com - The Fraternity & Sorority Greek Chat Network" was the default signature when the resets happened.

Ironic? Eh, not really.
Judging from past posts I've read over the years from the OP, she does have a tendency to overreact and I think many people who replied to her in this thread did so thinking the same thing.

You have an advantage then, I don't know the OP's post history, just basing my opinion on this post. I agree she started off wrong, but no need to jump the girl. She obviously cared a lot about her signature - and maybe it is hard to recreate...

I replied to her comment in the same civil tone that I have replied to yours. Also, I ask that everyone spell my name properly, again, civil. You're reading pissed into what isn't there.

And had she come on here with a "hey what happened to the signatures?" instead of a "this is editing of my work and no one has the right to do so" I would have reacted differently.
I'm fairly certain I've been almost entirely civil to you, so I'm rather amused that you seem to feel the need to target me. But, really, whatever floats your boat. Might want to unwad the panties first though, they're making you cranky.

Maybe you should read the posts before hitting the quick reply button - I never said you were pissed, just that I thought some people were taking it too seriously, and that it was ironic since you have accused others of doing this. And do you need to react at all - not civil, snarky. And you admitted it yourself. And everytime I see your screen name, I see DroleFILE, that extra L always throws me. Interesting though how Drole rhymes with troll... :D Which bridge did you come out from under I wonder... ooh, I rhymed again! SCORE!

Then allow me to rephrase, you're reading "taking it seriously" into something when it isn't there. When you see me all huffed up about how mean people are being to me, then you can crow success to your (blessed) little hearts content.
I'll attempt to clarify again for you, the first reply: snarky. The second reply, the one you thought was taking you too seriously, civil. Not necessarily nice, civil.
It is clear however, you're trying to win some sort of "thing" here. I do hope you keep trying, life's more entertaining this way. Plus you're fulfilling the true spirit of the other site. Whine about snarking and then do it (or try to do it in this case) yourself.

Nah, she wasn't wrong - cutiepatootie has a history of overreaction and generally being wrong. For her to rant about something that is common knowledge probably deserved the 'snark' she received. After all, posts like this clutter up the board and lead to stupid garbage like . . . this entire thread full of people who don't know what irony means.
You, as the person who doesn't know this history, should probably yield to people who know what they're talking about - although I realize you enjoy internet dick-waving contests, it's not good for the board as a whole or your IQ in specific. Stop.

OP, I think your "no one has a right" type language seemed a little silly to people who were around for the initial discussion of signature changes. It was discussed pretty thoroughly, I'd say. Many users were angry about it.
You didn't miss much other than knowing that yours was one of many that were changed and possibly knowing in advance what you need to change if you wanted to keep it.
You can recreate your old one as long as it fits the requirements.

As my screen name says, "You Rang?" What can I do for you KSig RC? BA at your service.Let's see how long it takes you to get banned for what, the sixth time?
And I've grown to like "HPRL," also known as Greek Friends. That's where I go when I want to have the big girl conversations, I only come to GC now to play :DGlad you like it. I prefer real conversation, even when it ain't pretty, to feeling like I'm trapped in Care-a-lot, but to each his own.
But just so you don't have any delusions of higher ground, you ought to know that BA helped start it after she got banned here -- multiple times, under every new username she tried. You think people have been snarky to you? It's been nothing compared to the way she behaved -- she's the "really crazy" Zeta who "topped the crop" that Drolefille was referring to here (http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/showthread.php?p=1540066#post1540066).
You know, last week, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, figuring you were a newbie who didn't have the feel of the place yet and who was interpreting the fairly common back-and-forth here as personal attacks. With this thread, any benefit of the doubt has been pretty much blown.

Mystic, you say that as if your opinion means much to me. If GF is so bad, then why are so many GCers coming over, and worse yet, why are there so many lurkers...? That doesn't make much sense to me. Mystic, I think you're an intelligent person and most of the time I think your posts make a lot of sense. This one was no different, in that I am a newbie and I am getting "the lay of the land." I've discovered that on GC there are several people who get their entertainment by putting others down (low self-esteem, boredom, no life, whatever the reason) and that once in a while good converstaion does exist. I have also discovered that Greek Friends is a different type of Greek issues forum that serves a different pupose, which is why I chose to join it in addition to GC. I will not be bullied (mostly because I think it's all too funny now) so I'm not going to take my ball and go home. I realize that GC can never be what GF is and that's ok - that's why there are two now :D

SthrnZeta

It's not secret, obviously! Just that we don't let snarkers in for a reason - snark-free zone! Just like people can have people banned from GC, not everyone is welcome at GF. Pretty simple. Again, why two groups exist in the first place. And trust me, the site is growing everyday - obviously there was a need :D

I've discovered that on GC there are several people who get their entertainment by putting others down (low self-esteem, boredom, no life, whatever the reason) and that once in a while good converstaion does exist.See this is where you've blown the benefit of the doubt with me. I don't think "people who get their entertainment by putting others down" is what's going on here -- it's not what was going on in the threads involving you. I do wonder, though, if you don't get your entertainment from creating drama. That's how it starting to look. I guess saying that makes me snarky, but whatever.
As for HRPL, yeah it's fine for there to be 2 sites -- whatever makes people happy. I'm all for the free market. I've been there from time to time, but so far I've had no desire to sign up. What I've seen has been way too quiet and white bread for my taste. But hey, lots of people like white bread, or they wouldn't keep making it.
SthrnZeta
10-24-2007, 10:58 AM
I don't create drama, drama finds me. You can ask any of my IRL friends. I think your point about the white bread was a good one, only in that many people like it and that's why they keep making it. But I wouldn't classify HPRL as white bread if by that you mean, boring or bland. There are some great discussions going on there right now in fact, that don't exist anywhere on GC. And I disagree with you on two points: I didn't think your comment was snarky. Telling me "Bitch, be quiet" is snarky. Second, there are indeed many people putting others down all over GC and if you don't see it, than you're oblivious to what's really going on here. Unfortunately, the admin doesn't care because it creates more posts and more use of the site. But it also will ultimately homogenize GC - it will only be snarkers, as the people that lose their taste for GC will find their way to Greek Friends.

Who here can say they genuinely live by their org's motto on GC? Not many, that's for usre... As for my comment about drama - you don't know me IRL so you really have no room for comment there. Who here can say they genuinely live by their org's motto on GC? Not many, that's for usre... You know, one thing I learned the hard way when I was a GC newbie was never to accuse a member of another org of not living by their mottos, creeds or whatever. I can call my own brothers to account for that (privately, of course) but not someone who is a member of a different org. It's a lesson I learned and a rule I stick by.
But I'm about to break the rule, or at least to offer you a mirror.
I have a great deal of respect for ZTA, for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, much of what you've posted -- including sweeping generalizations that "not many" people can say "they genuinely live by their org's mottos on GC" -- does not seem to match the very admirable motto you've placed in your sig.

ok, I looked at your old posts, and I'm going to spell this out for you because you don't seem to get it.
You got upset that your thread about pledges wearing letters got "heated" and that people were saying you were wrong, and that it was just a tradition that people should accept.
Then you turn around and label things that you aren't familiar with (like eating clubs) as "weird" and when it's pointed out that maybe isn't the nicest word to use, you got all "it's my opinion, quit attacking me!"
You want others to accept your org/chapter's quirks or policies, but you come across as very unaccepting when it comes to other groups' similar quirks or policies.
Hence the antipathy toward you. You can't have it both ways.

you don't know me IRL so you really have no room for comment there.
No I don't know you IRL, and I think that's just fine by me.
I have made some innocent comments that people took too seriously and then the whole thread got blown way out of proprortion, as often happens on GC - that is what I mean by drama finding me (online anyway).
Your comments may have started out innocent, but you're like a freaking dog with a nasty ol' rope toy. You Won't Let Go. Post after post ad nauseum of the same crap. "Whine whine, everybody's so mean."
GC has been around 8 years and many posters have zero tolerance for excessive stupid. A lot of people *tried* to be helpful when you first started posting, but instead of learning from their helpfulness, you kept making asinine comments and then crying "Meanie" when you get called out on the stupid. You're not the first to do so, and you won't be the last, but that's exactly why people have so little tolerance for it.

It is my opinion that I am seeking the noblest by standing up to people that are wrong. I have not used profanity in doing it and I have tried not to put people down who ask innocent questions and have given people the benefit of the doubt as much as possible. Perhaps what I said was a generaliztion so I will rephrase: I have encountered a lot of people on here that I don't think are living up to their org's ideals as they are expected to do. Thankfully, I have also encountered some really genuine and nice people on here which is what keeps me on GC. I appreciate the lesson though, seriously.

I don't think are living up to their org's ideals as they are expected to do.
Unless you're in that org, that's not your business. If I have a sister here that I don't think is living up to ASA ideals, I'll deal with it myself, and I would expect everyone else to do the same. If you're going to call someone out who's not a ZTA, call them out personally, not because of their org.
Also, I'm still waiting for you to point out where exactly you were actually SNARKED. Corrected, yes, debated with, yes, told to STFU, yes...but none of this is actual snark.

I will agree to disagree with you about some GCers attacking me personally. I'm not one for searching old threads to check out the drama - so I'll take your word for it. No one here has to like me, just as I don't have to like everyone I encounter. All I've asked from the beginning is that people treat each other with respect and dignity - and I don't think I'm asking for much. It's sad that I have found it hard to find among the Greeks on GC.
I will say that I genuinely appreciate some of the comments made today and I have taken some of what people have said to head (not to heart, I don't take it personally anymore). I will simply say, good game and bow out. On to bigger and better conversations on GC! :)

Troll, I mean, Drole, it bothers you enough to make a comment about it earlier...
Oooh you're witty. It bothers me when people are careless, not intentionally stupid. Thinking it's a slam of some sort is inherently sad. You've officially hit the 2nd grade level of attempting to be mean: Rhyming someone's name.
you're always quick to correct someone's grammar and spelling on this board, as are others. Only when it's glaring. I misspell too, but I at least try to check my work.
Seems silly to me, unless it's so wrong that it makes the post incomprehensible... then I can see the justification in alerting a poster to their spell check feature...
So when you do it, it's ok. But when I (or "others") do it it's SNARKY *evil face*
And I've grown to like "HPRL," also known as Greek Friends. That's where I go when I want to have the big girl conversations, I only come to GC now to play :D And you care enough about my posts that you have to go search me out in another forum... kinda pathetic if you ask me
Lol, I have no idea what you've posted over there, if you have. My big girl conversations don't involved telling everyone how Wonderful and AWESOME their posts were, nor encouraging AI for everyone interested. I also avoid consorting with people who publish other people's private IRL info on message boards. Oh wait, it's probably not wrong because your new buddies did it.
Any way, you may call me pathetic, but you keep coming back, and PMing me I might add. One might think you were starting to like this place.

SthrnZeta, when your new hero stalks you enough to make you go to the police maybe you'll have a different opinion of HPRL. I've seen those discussions-they're not discussions or debates, it's posters saying the same stupid thing over and over. But you would rather have people just agree with you rather than debate, which is cool. But in the words of the most infamous batshit poster ever: Let. It. Go.

I'd just like to throw my two cents in here...
You are upset because someone wrote OMGWTFBBQ in a post to you. THAT is said so many times to so many people on here. You are not special. You asked what the BBQ part was and they told you. You are now acting like you are specially entitled to lashing out at people because someone said OMGWTFBBQ. That phrase is used on here about as much as LOLLERS and batshit. Again, you are not special.
You have about as much right as I do telling people that they are not living up to their sorority's ideals. HOWEVER, I do not have my letters splashed all over the place. I don't make sure that my affiliation is shouted to everyone by my username. Perhaps a bit more discretion would be called for here. After all, your org's name is in your username and your sig is quite large. Zeta is attached to your every post through your own doing.
You have been on here for years. You ARE NOT NEW. Stop acting like you know nothing about this site. Anyone can tell you that things have definitely been snarkier around here.
Go to HPRL. But, don't let Tom and BBS fool you into thinking that they are saints. One was removed from being a moderator and the other has been banned about twenty times. One meddled into international sorority business trying to hurt a GreekChat member and the other stalked multiple people on this site on and offline to the point that police were contacted. THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE RUNNING GF.
HPRL is not all: "Let's be nice." It is simply: "You are allowed to post here because you will not disagree with me. And, if you do, I will just kick you out."
GC is: "You have every right to agree or disagree. If you go WAY too far, you will be banned."
Stop acting like a damn victim. You have no idea what being stalked is like.

Yep. Did those things. Still find it funny. Only wish you were woman enough to admit what you did instead of trying to defer blame onto others. Oh, yes... BTW, I am still wondering how you got through the AI process. I mean, we aren't desperate for sisters. So, I still am shaking my head at the whole thing.
You cannot even see how fucked up it is that someone keeps FILES and SCREENSHOTS of posts, signatures, info they found online, info they spent time doing public record searches finding, etc.
And, if you involve my family in public like you have before, I sure as shit will call John again. And, I'll probably contact the local police again. See, they have been keeping A FILE ON YOU.
So, you want to rehash this? Sorry, I'm a bit too busy to spend my life arguing with someone as mentally unstable as you are.

I was never hiding from anyone. I was livid because YOU posted my husband's LEGAL name. Not what everyone calls him. Not what I referred to him on here. His legal name. So, whether you told everyone who he was or not, you made sure that people knew who he was someone close to me.
And, I had posted my HOMETOWN at that time. I did not post where I was living now. But, you knew where I am currently living. You even admitted to spending your weekends doing public record searches on me and others. But, you don't remember those details, do you?
And, about changing history... YOU POSTED PICS OF ME, TOO.

Tom, I realize that you are old and senile. But, even someone with your limited intelligence can read a post and comprehend what was being said and who really said it. After all, there are not that many people who keep signatures in files to use against someone at a later time.
And, the fact that yourang logged in to reply to thread, logged out, blueangel logged in, logged out, and yourang logged back in and finished her reply with her files in her blueangel account all within a matter of a couple of minutes is all too coincidental. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT SHE ADMITS WHO SHE IS.

Or better yet, why don't we all go to GreekFriends for friendly polite and go to GC for sassy engagement and repartee, which comes with the risk of occasional meanness or hurt feelings.
There's no reason to have this particular who is the craziest convo again, is there?
(As always I should note, I'm usually a fan of kindness and politeness and I'd love it if we treated new users with extra special sweetness, except of course for the one junior in that rush thread that I was mean to :o, but you know, she deserved it. )
