Not sure if there are any regular ATO posters on Greek Chat, but I wanted to share with you what I found yesterday at a local antique mall. It's a black and white picture of an ATO chapter with 45 members and all of their mothers wearing corsages! It's terrific. My guess is that it was taken in the 1950s. I can't tell which school, but it looks like they are outside of their house/lodge. Over the door there is a replica of the badge with lights in it and the roof is tile -- looks like something I think of from California (Stanford?) or somewhere in Florida?

I'll try to post a picture of it later.

Also, I'll get the name of the Archivist at your HQ and send it on after I've had my fun researching it!

The only additional clue I found was a sticker from a business in Memphis, TN where it was framed.

Well, it's been padded and boxed and mailed and is on its way to Indianpolis! The nice representative I spoke with at the HQ tells me they will let me know if the chapter in the picture is identified!

One additional thought...I guess the picture could be from Rhodes College (formerly Southwestern at Memphis), but I can't imagine the chapter in the 1950s would have 45 members.

The roofs on the lodges at that school, as I remember, were slate -- but maybe some were tile?

I love a good mystery.

Don't know if anyone has been following my mystery here, or even cares, but...

I sent the picture to the ATO NHQ and it has been identified!

The picture was from the Delta Kappa Chapter at the University of Oklahoma. (I never would have guessed that!) I understand that the chapter is back on campus now after being closed, but they do not still have the house.

I know...I don't have a scanner and I was ready to send it on its way!

That was a very interesting story to read. What a journey that photo must have made. How kind of you to send the photo to Indy. I hope to make a visit there one day to check out the archives. They have so much cool stuff.
