Hey Tara--

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE horses! I've been riding since I was real little. I wanted to take up barrel racing but I just didn't have the time. Now I just ride for fun when I get the chance.

I see that this thread is very old, but it was cited at the bottom of another thread and it was my first time noticing it. I LOVE horses. I have one. her name is Cherokee and I barrel race with her at playdays pretty much. I haven't done anything professionally, but who knows, I might!

Anyone else have horses?

I can ride, but don't enjoy it as much as most people - although I can ride sidesaddle, if necessary. No jumping, though!

My SIL, on the other hand, has a few Trocaners (sp?) and teaches dressage. I may have a lot to say about her, but she sits a lovely horse!

WTF is barrel racing?Think of it as slalom for horses. It's a rodeo event where a horse and rider have to race around barrels.

That was an extremely intricate and complicated diagram. My head hurts. Thanks a lot.

We have horses on our ranch. My cousin is a champion equestrian rider, last time I talked to her she was at some university for equestrian riders living with Bruce Springsteen's daughter.

Hey there. I have ridden and shown . Is Cherokee a quarter horse?

Yes. She is a registered Paint/Quarter Horse with some Tennessee Walker blood in her somwhere. Her colors are liver chestnut and white.

Now I feel like going to the stables and riding, lo. This happens everytime I talk about horses!! BUTTT, I guess that's why I bought her, so I can go ride when I get the urge.

I've been selected to go to the State and National championships for the Ausralian Pony Club Association, plus I've also been chosen to ride at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney once before.

I've also done a 17.80 second barrel before too, on my horse called Aqua. Hes a 15hh 13 year old Australian Stock Horse and I love him to death. ^_^
