I recently watched a movie that just came out on video. It didn't do very well I don't think, but this movie touched my heart like no other movie has. I can't explain why it did, but I know that this movie just seemed to really pull me in. It's an incredible movie about a young woman's strength. If I think about it long enough, I get teary! Anyway, I think that I've labeled it as my favorite.
"Where the Heart Is"
Other movies I love: Steal Magnolias, Gone with the Wind, The Truth about Cats and Dogs, Grease (musical, but you know what I mean), The Wizard of Oz, Funny Face, and cheesy--but--So I married an Ax Murderer--I laugh my butt off at that movie!

Raising Arizona (funny as heck)
Scream 3 (I didn't like 1 or 2)
Kings of Comedy (I saw it 4 times still made me laugh til tears ran down my face).
That's all I can think of right now

"Sista... you've been on my mind, ohhh sista... we're two of a kind, ohhh sista..."
But my most favoritest movie in the whole wide world is Coming Home. It's an old vietnam movie with John Voight (boy was he hot when he was young!) and Jane Fonda. It is one of the best romances of all time! I totally recommend seeing it!
After that, I would have to say...

This is a cool topic. I love talking about movies. Here are some of my favorites:
Star Wars
The Shawshank Redemption
Seven
Pulp Fiction
Halloween
Robocop
The Usual Suspects
The Godfather
Swingers
Reservoir Dogs
About Billy Elliott...I will go on record right now and say that that movie will be nominated for Best Picture. Not because I liked it; in fact, I haven't seen it, and I don't plan on seeing it, because it doesn't look like my kind of movie. But it's one of those "Full Monty" kind of British movies that you just know the Academy is going to go apeshit over.

All time favorites: Mallrats, History of the World Part I, Lady and the Tramp, Austin Powers, The Jerk, Vacation, The Sound of Music....
Hehe, there are a lot of movies that I like, although, I tend to be pretty picky. Either it holds my attention span completely or I lose interest or figure it out halfway through...

Yall are killin me, that is my favorite!!! My cousins and I sit around and quote lines from this movie and laugh with tears in our eyes. It was such a poignant film. I get teary eyed just thinking about two scenes: (1) When Shug is singing in the juke joint and comes walking and SANGING down the hill to the church (2) When Miss Celie and Nettie meet again in the end and they start playing hand games. I have been gone too long off this board! Ok, so let me jump in here. My favorite movie is Clueless! I don't know why, but that movie is the stupidest movie in the world, ya just gotta love it! "As if!" I've watched it like 20 gazillion times cuz it's the first movie I bought. And that was an amazing feat for me cuz I don't buy movies!
Anyway, my other favs are:
Interview w/ the Vampire (I'm not a big Brad Pitt fan, but he looked damn good in that movie...even though he was "dead" and had fangs. Tom was cool too)
Ferris Bueller (I can watch that over and over)
Soul Food
Love Jones
Menace II Society
Pretty Woman
Joy Luck Club
The Matrix (I can't wait for the 2nd and 3rd!)
Kings of Comedy (I nearly died of laughter!)
Mannequin (has anyone ever seen this? It's an 80s movie)
Pocahontas (despite it's historical background being wrong or right, it was a good movie)
Aladdin (I've got the movie and soundtrack!)
Higher Learning (talk about a movie w/ some serious ISSUES and stereotypes! Whoa!)
ANY James Bond movie--old and new! ("My name is Bond..." you fill in the rest. Bond is THE MAN! Connery and Bronson are awesome!)
Batman--1 and 2, the 3rd was ok.
You've Got Mail (predictable, but cute. I'm a sucker for romantic comedy)
While You Were Sleeping (Ok, if you've seen this, remember the kid falling off the bike? LOL!!!! My friend and I laughed SO hard at that! I was so glad we rented it cuz we rewound that part like 4 times!)
Liar, Liar
Toy Story (didn't see #2)
She's The One (predictable, but I love the dance scene)
Sister Act Too
Con Air (I'm not an action type person, but this was damn good)
Seven
12 Monkeys (ok, after watching this movie at least 100 times...I still don't get it..what the hell!? But for some reason I like it. Maybe cuz I'm trying to figure it all out. I don't know!)
Austin Powers--1 and 2 but I like the 1st better
Murder in the First (Damn fine movie! Kevin Bacon shoulda got an Oscar for that performance)
As Good As It Gets--that dog is TOO cute!
Titanic
Selena
Dirty Dancing
Dead Poets Society
Far and Away (that one w/ Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman)
Legends of the Fall
ok this is long as hell, so I'll quit now.

Comedy:
Any movie by the Zucker Bros. (Airplane, Naked Gun trilogy, High School High) and/or featuring Leslie Nielson.
Smokey & the Bandit (1&2, 3 is kinda wack).
Police Academy 1-4 (5-7 are weak w/o Steve Guttenberg).
Any Jim Carrey flick (They're stupid, but you just can't help laughing).
The Out of Towners (the original 1970 flick with Jack Lemmon is TEN TIMES better than the current Goldie Hawn/Steve Martin remake).
The Odd Couple II (that argument b/t Felix and Oscar about the trifecta/fourfecta/fivefecta had me ROTFLMNBAO).
Animal House
Drama:
Patton (a MUST RENT)
Nixon (I have never heard a president cuss so much in my life)
JFK (got a little longwinded after a while, but still good).
The Negotiator
Pulp Fiction ("This is a TASTY burger!")
Titanic
Brittanic (sister ship to the Titanic and having a similar plotline to that of Titanic)

Earthquake (1974)
Earthquake in New York (1999)

Black (predominately Black cast)
The Josephine Baker story
Introducing Dorothy Dandridge
House Party trilogy
Booty Call (a little on the ghetto side, but HEE-LARIOUS).

Jo Jo Dancer
Soul Food
The Court Martial of Jackie Robinson

Gotta add 2 more:
Dirty Dancing - my husband (who never went to movies so I had to catch him up on all the 80's) is so freaking funny when this is on (which is like Thurs - Sun nights somewhere either on TBS, TNT, or WGN) - he'll pick my cat up during the final dance scene, and swing him around like Jennifer Grey while singing in this totally stupid voice. I know its a "just gotta be there" thing - but I'm cracking up just thinking about it.
My Cousin Vinny - oh my gosh - let me just sum it up with "The 2 Youts, Your Honor" - and "No self respectin' southerner eats instant grits" --- how funny was this movie?! We should just buy it because we rent it so much (of course its on all the time too!)

"Where the Heart Is" is my favorite too! It is so inspiring because of the way that the main character makes it through hard times with the help of her friends and her own perserverence. It really leaves you with a positive outlook. The book is the same way, but better. Thanks for reminding me of that awsome movie, I think I'll go rent it tomorrow.

From the 80s:
The Goonies--how can you not laugh everytime you hear Data say "SLICK SHOES" and "CHESTER COPPERPOT"?
16 Candles--I wish everyone could have a Long Duck Dong "Autooooomobile!"
Adventures in Babysitting--I had a massive crush on Keith Coogan and I used to spend my allowance $$$ buying Teen Beat and BOP for his posters.
and who could forget...
Dirty Dancing--I've watched this movie over and over again since I was 8, and though I really love this movie, only now have I come to accept how cheesy the lines are.
And movies of today...
CENTERSTAGE--this movie pretty much summarized everything I've dreamed of as a little girl.
and the one that takes it all...
