U.N. Urged to Take On Asteroid Threat
By Irene Klotz

SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 18) - An asteroid may come uncomfortably close to Earth in 2036 and the United Nations should assume responsibility for a space mission to deflect it, a group of astronauts, engineers and scientists said on Saturday.

I expect the UN to vote for surrender to the threatening asteroid in the next few days.

Funding will be approved, then dispensed to some third world country. That third world country will consequently build new palaces for its governmental officials.

They can get Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton to drill a hole in it & get it all blow'd up.

Remember that experiment that Nasa did where it landed a probe on a comet or asteroid and then took a sample? Big explosion?
I was wondering if that was practice for something like this.

Asteroid then hits earth and the blame will be placed on George W. Bush and his Cabinet.........many of whom are probably dead from old age.

I doubt Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck will be too busy to help out in 2036...

If Ben Affleck is still alive I'm gonna be seriously pissed.

I'm not really going to argue with you about that, I was just wondering how/why you thought he was going to die in the next 29 years.

I don't really want him to die. It'd just be nice to never see him again on television. Or in person. Or in magazines, newspapers, flyers, on the internet...

I find it really fascinating that they can predict - down to the DAY - when this thing might hit.
Astronomers are monitoring an asteroid named Apophis, which has a 1 in 45,000 chance of striking Earth on April 13, 2036.

Don't wanna fall asleep...don't wanna close my eyes because the asteroid would miss us baby and I don't wanna miss a thing! Sorry, had to.
Anyway...Shiner, never mind Jersey Girl, what about Gigli? Seriously, get your priorities straight.

Too bad the weather channel can't tell me whether its going to be raining or sunny 6 hours from now. I'm simply stunned that they have the audacity to post that 10 day forecast, and Accuweather has a 15 day one...you gotta be kidding me. Hell, you've usually got a 50 percent chance of being right, and they don't even take that risk, predicting days 2-8 as "Partly cloudy, possible chance of rain low of 20 high of 80"
