Was it last season that by the time they did the Hollywood stuff, we didn't really know the finalists b/c they never gave them much air time during the auditions? It was a bunch of people that I never saw before with the exception of the poor singing cowboy... wonder what happened to him?

Last night was rotten - completely overdone in so many ways. I used to love the auditions (better than the rest of the show) but last night wasn't even funny. The only time I remember laughing out loud was once at the beginning when Simon told that girl "the good news is that singing is not for you - now you can move on to something else" and the other was when the big girl with the awful blonde hair & terrible eyeliner (was it Brenna?) came in - just the look on Simon's face when the door opened and she walked in... priceless.

Other than that, the funniest part of the show was watching the rejected candidates walk right into the locked door. You gotta figure they thought it was funny too, or they would have put a "Use other door" sign up after the first couple people did it.

"Hey Paula, when's the last time you made a record huh?" Classic. Personally I lost it when Randy went off on the vocal teacher and Simon sat there and anatagonized the poor guy for pure entertainment. Now that was hilarious.

For those of you who think MN was bad, Simon came out weeks ago saying that Seattle (which airs tonight!) was the worst city they've ever held auditions in!

I don't know what to think about that. Part of me is happy that the talented musicians in our area stayed away, and part of me is sad because I know there is so much musical talent in this city. What I do know is that I won't be watching AI this season (after tonight) because of the completely over-the-top insulting remarks about my city that FOX thinks is good PR for the show.

I have no doubt that the AI auditions bring all the freaks out of the woodwork, if only so they can get on TV. And from the previews I've seen, that will be the case on tonight's show.

Yep. They air mostly the bad auditions. They probably think that gets them more viewers. I enjoyed watching the bad auditions the first few seasons because they were real. But now there's a bunch of people who put on an act just to be on TV. I don't think anyone thought the juggler guy was for real. His "tears" were so fake. His mother was trying so hard to look sad but you could tell she was about to start cracking up. I grabbed a book after that audition and just read until I heard someone that sounded good.

The chick who did the Lion from the Wizard of Oz made my cat hiss at the TV. No joke. Mike & I couldn't stop laughing at the freak kid in the red shirt who was also juggling & dancing. His meltdown just had me holding my sides in laughter but I can't believe his mom is actually encouraging him to keep going b/c he's good & going to be famous one day. I'd really like to see some of the people that make it to Hollywood and get to know them...the past few years I haven't really watched the shows until the top 10, because I don't know any of them enough to care.

The bad auditions can be funny, but most of them are so obviously fake and stupid. I'd rather see a bigger mix. I tuned in a few minutes (10 or so) late last night and 30 minutes later I saw someone get through to Hollywood.

As far as the mid-west goes, I definitely was not blown away by anyone that actually made it to Hollywood last night (out of the ones that they showed) ... which was definitely dissapointing.

In past seasons they seemed to show a little bit more and I was able to get drawn in early on because of one or two people that blew me away that ended up making to the late finals.

Out of the people that they did show last night, I think most of them were a stretch as far as being able to go on to the next round.

I just find it so completely ironic that we are now watching season 6 and yet this people come in and they think "omg I'm so good, they are immediately going to say yes". Then they get so pissed when Simon tells them the truth, that OMG they suck!

I'm sorry, if I actually made it to the audition with Simon, Paula & Randy, I would walk in expecting them to say I suck (especially Simon) and if I got something else I'd probably pass out.

One thing to remember is that the people start out with a group audition (with a different set of judges) then if they make it they move on to the audition with Simon, Paula and Randy. Also, some people can sound really good in groups. A friend of mine from high school, well she could blend really, really well, but if she did a solo, you would think nails on a chalkboard (and that is the nicest way to put it).

I mean I think I have a good voice, but I would still walk in expecting Simon to say I suck. LOL.

I'm loving the auditions in Seattle. I honestly say I love watching the bad people, but I do have to say I wish they wouldn't "carry them on" so long. I mean you can tell they aren't "AI material" in like 5 seconds.

Man, these Seattle auditions make me feel embarrassed for my city! They seriously have put the biggest dorks imaginable on TV so far. I think that mother-daughter pair was faking, though...it had to be a gag. That's the only way I can explain it

I wish they would do the longer segments on singers who are either awesome or right on the edge. It really bugs me when they do it for people who disappoint the moment they sing the first note.

PeppyGPhiB

Here's something I noticed in Seattle...

The "cattle call" auditions, where everyone reported to initially audition, was Key Arena. But when they talked to people outside the audition room and showed them walking outside, that was the W Hotel. So, they must send the "special" people who get through the first screening on to the second location.

I think the editors went a little too far with the bad auditions in MN and Seattle. It's one thing to show clips of a lot of bad people, but they've stretched those segments out way too long. Ryan is also being really patronizing out in the hallway. It's all just a little too cruel for me.

I spotted a couple that I really liked. Rudolpho was one and then the girl who was 16 and said her Dad was an NFL player. She was good. I liked the brother and sister too. Although the brother has the better voice, he looks kind of bizarre and I don't know that he'd get many audience votes unless they help him change his look (and tone down his smile some). The sister was gorgeous and could sing well and I could see her getting more of a following over time.

I think they're too cruel also. I really only want to see the good ones and see if any of them stick in my head. I don't think they showed a lot of them who are going to Hollywood at all.

Sure AI is just showing bad people, but did you catch that ONLY 8 out of what, 12k+ people made it through from Seattle? And only 17 from 17k from Minneapolis. So yeah, what else do they have to show?

They showed every single person that went through from Seattle. Is it their fault that better talent didn't come out? Be it for whatever reason.

But yes, I wish they didn't show the losers at all. I don't laugh anymore, I just fast foward my DVR and look for good ones. :)

PeppyGPhiB
01-18-2007, 06:31 PM
No, they said 8 on the first day made it through. In total I think it was around 16 they said. But in past seasons, when 20-something people would get through from each city, we still only saw a tiny portion of them.

At this point, AI has gotten so popular that everyone and their mother is trying out, even though they know they can't sing. I think a lot of them do it just because they can. So, the numbers of auditioners grow, but you've got to be really good to make it onto that show.

I'm offended that they picked probably the biggest weirdos they could and made it look like my city is full of, as was said above, "mutants." They didn't show any of the normal people who went through, except for a few good ones. I thought the comments from Simon to the guy with the "eyes" were really cruel, and this year they seem to be encouraging them to keep singing so they can humiliate them as much as possible. It was obvious that some of those people on last night especially had some emotional problems, and instead of just letting them sing a few bars, they let them sing a whole song (or two, since the end of the show showed a number of them singing a Pussycat Dolls song that they did not audition with at first), then insulted them on top of it. When they do that to 16 year olds it bothers me even more.

I won't be watching any more of the audition shows, and just like in past seasons, I won't be watching much of AI either.

ZTAngel
01-18-2007, 06:51 PM
A girl in my sorority tried out a few years ago when AI came to Orlando. She had an amazing voice but she was cut during the second round (I think there's 3 rounds during the actual try-out stage...before Hollywood). From what I heard from her and have read on the AI message boards, the producers are looking for a particular type of person to put on the show. For instance, they love people who have unique background stories. They cut people with great voices if they don't fit what the producers are looking for. Although AI is a talent contest, it is also a television show. A normal, everyday person with a good voice doesn't create television ratings the way that a redneck girl with an ok voice and a locked-up daddy (a la Kelly Pickler) does.

I'm guessing this was the reason only a few people from each city have been making it through. I'm sure there were a lot of people in Seattle and Minneapolis who could sing but just didn't have what the producers were looking for.

Um blonde with the no bra... that was the first thing I noticed. Did you SEE how far those things hung down? What a freak show.

Did anyone notice the girl sitting at a desk or something wearing headphones in the audition room? I noticed her last night. What exactly does she do? I thought maybe she keeps track of the contestant names and numbers but wasn't sure.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw the no-bra factor. I was blinded by her shirt for a second, and then it occurred to me...she was wearing no bra! I'm not small chested by annnnnnnnnnny stretch of the imagination and I know if I walked around like that my back would hurt! What was she thinking? And she's almost 27?
Oy, and the fact that she and her mom have that hideous rat's nesty hair and too-red lipstick. "Like Mother Like Daughter" went a little too far there...but at least Mom seemed to be wearing a bra!
Her voice drove me nuts too--like a very monotone Minnesotan (Don'cha know?)

Mike thinks that watching her is just as amusing as watching the mutants on the show. Her head was rolling around and at one point, she was flopping her wrist around & staring at it like it was something special. I figure that's why they focus more on Simon & Randy's comments than time on her drunk ass.

As for the 2 best friends - sorry best friend 1, but best friend 2 is by far the better singer... and how about not putting BF2 in an awkward position by making her repeat to you what the judges said - as if you really want to know!

Is anyone else sick of all the really bad contestants getting so much media coverage? The guy Simon called a bush baby and his "friend" were both on the Today show last week. And then a bunch of the folks from this week (Ian Benardo, that girl Sarah who thought the American Idol didn't need to be a singer, etc) were on the DC local news and LARRY KING!!!

I really can't understand why everyone is making such a big deal out of the judges' comments this year. It's the sixth season folks. The judges are (understandably) tired of people who absolutely can't sing and who show up in ridiculous costumes (Spacesuit man, I'm talking to you.)

One of the reasons why the two guys from Seattle got on the Today show was because one of them turned out to be a Special Olympics athlete. The niece of my best friend also knows him. Really nice, making fun of a kid with disabilities. I'm really surprised American Idol didn't get more criticism for that...it just shows that they need to be more sensitive to some of the people that come through that door. I'm sure they can tell the people who have real emotional/mental issues from the ones who just want their 15 minutes.

The Special Olympics folks have made a formal statement about it.. from this article
http://www.realitytvmagazine.com/blog/2007/01/american_idol_c_2.html

According to the official Special Olympics press release, “While polite isn’t a word one would normally associate with Cowell and company, a viewing of the episode in question shows that the judges were in fact gracious and very encouraging to Jayne during his rendition of "God Bless America." At one point, Abdul commented admiringly about Jayne’s spirit and advised him to "Always believe in yourself."”

The press release went on to state, “Whether on the stage of American Idol or on the field of competition for Special Olympics, people with intellectual disabilities don’t want to be pitied. They want to be judged for who they are and appreciated for what they can achieve. American Idol should be commended for providing Jayne with the same opportunity to succeed as any other contestant.”

After what, 6 years? of American Idol, the public KNOWS how these judges are and that the negativity is what gives them the ratings. Any of the people coming on this show are opening themself up to public scrutiny. Where were these kids' families or friends to discourage them? Where are any of these contestants family/friends? If I had a friend that was tone deaf, or had a disability and I knew they pretty much should just show up with a big red X on themself, I'd do anything to stop them from going. These people should know what they are getting into, unless they are just trying to get their 15 minutes.

The first thing Simon said to him when he came in the door was, "Have you borrowed Randy's trousers?" commenting about his weight. I just think that's a terribly rude thing to say to some one, especially someone you've never even met or spoken with.

As for "pity" for people with disabilities, I'm well aware of the issues. I won't get into what I've experienced as a Special Olympics volunteer or around my aunt who was a paraplegic most of her life. I was not suggesting pity, I was suggesting some *decency* be shown to people who clearly have been encouraged by people who were probably well-intentioned to try out and "go for it." We love to tell people in this country that anything is possible, and a number of those people at the AI auditions probably would not be there if they hadn't been told by people that care about them that they were good singers, just because they didn't want to hurt their feelings. Also, all of the people we see on the TV have been passed on to the second round by producers who've already heard them...don't you think that gives some of them even more false hope? Their info./applications are also passed on to the judges, so the producers and judges are aware of their situation/issues/trivia, etc. Of course I'm only talking about the people who seem to have...issues...not people who are just cocky and obnoxious and know they can't sing.

Family and friends deluding relatives/friends is what is wrong with America today. If a person is tone-deaf and/or flat and cannot carry a note in a bucket, you need to be the one to tell them, not Simon Cowell and the Fox Network. You can recover from hurt feelings, but national public humiliation takes a lot longer to get over. I really wish that these people encouraging these terrible performers would just stop right now. Every single bad auditionee has said "my family/friends/people say I can sing really well." They're as idiotic as the person auditioning.
The last chick tonight, for instance, Brandy-oh god, why do people encourage that? "people say I can sing." It makes me wonder if they've actually heard her.

I like the Jack Osbourne looking guy. He's funny and he has a nice voice.
I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in the Hollywood round.

Me too!! He was really funny when asked why he wanted to be an American Idol and he said, "Because I want to make David Hasselhoff cry." How funny was that!! I don't even remember that at the end of last season.

I am not sure. The daughter was wearing a white top and looked really sad. She got mad because they were laughing at her. She was going on and on about how they shouldn't be negative because they dont know her.

I agree with you on Sundance. I was totally shocked when he made it over Tommy cause I really liked Tommy. As for Chris (Nacho Libre guy) I think he really deserves to be there. He has got a great voice and allot of stage presence.

I am rooting for Gina, Lakisha, Melinda, Phil, Chris Sligh, and Nick. Of course my choices will probably change in a week. Last year at this time I was a Pickler girl, but then by the time they got to the top 12 I wanted her out of there!

I thought Blake was good, too.

Phil was good with the chorus, but I couldn't stand looking at him behind the mike - he was all ears and big eyebrows.

Sanjay and Paul Kim are two others I couldn't stand looking at - heebie jeebies.

Lakisha was amazing and I like her even more b/c she's a Michigan girl! ;)

But I also really love Melinda. She's really great and seems so humble.

I also liked the skinny girl with the super curly hair.

I didn't think Jordin was all that. I thought that song was too mature for her - it's about a woman scorned, she's 17, what does she know about that? And I thought it was too fast and felt like she couldn't keep up. I do think she has good voice, though.

I like Gina and think she should make the top 12, but don't see her winning anything.

Probably because she's prettier than Nicole or Amy. No joke. That's the only reason why Antonella and Sanjaya are still around too--some idiots vote for 'beauty appeal' factor reasons. I personally think Antonella and Sanjaya are both really ugly.

I don't know who in the world thinks that Sanjaya is good-looking! I don't know, maybe if he cut his hair...? Yeah, I still don't think so. But I think Antonella is somewhat pretty. Not a great singer though. I actually didn't see either of the performance nights and I only fastwarded through to the parts where people got kicked off last night, so I'm not attached to anyone yet. But I do wonder how the hell Sanjaya even made the top 24.

LPIDelta
02-23-2007, 12:24 PM
The only thing I can figure is its because Sanjaya is 17 years old--and they mentioned that right before the voting started. He is probably getting the young teen vote and I would guess that they represent a majority of the people that actually take the time to vote, especially multiple times.

I think Paul is gone because of the bare feet--that just oogs some people out. Plus Careless Whisper just makes me think about what George Michael, and not in a good way.

I agree about both women--they really didn't do anything to stand out and they both kind of looked ordinary or predictable.

The best friend was on the local radio station here in NYC. She said it definitely wasn't her who posted them...Who knows.

They weren't for a porn website or anything - it was stupid pictures kids take when they are drunk and then post on their myspace page or whatever. Completely classless, IMO, but a little different than Frenchie who posed for a porn website (though I didn't agree with Frenchie getting the boot).

OK, so there's a lot more out there than the stupid ones I heard about. The ones at the war memorial are basically soft core porn (she wasn't nude - just in a soaking wet white T-shirt and g-string). She might not be on a porn site yet, but it looks like she was hoping to get there.

Right, no patrols and you can go at any time of the night - so it could be 3 in the morning when no one is around. Plus I think those pics look exactly like her.

Sanjaya was horrific! He better get the boot. I didn't hear Brandon sing except in the recap and thought he wasn't very good. I didn't like him at all last week. I thought they all did better (except Sanjaya!) this week though.

Dialidol tells a different story, though. Is Sanjaya part of that vote for the worst campaign?!?!

Gina was on the bottom of dialidol.com. :( However, this early in the game, often the bottom isn't as easy to track. Last week dialidol was off with the bottom 2 - only one got the boot, so I hope it's off with Gina.

And I don't know what I'll do if it comes down to Lakisha and Melinda. I love them both!!!

When she was singing, she looked about, at least, 60. That comment was hilarious! You could tell what Paula and Simon were talking about. Did she get a butt job too? Or was it always that perfect? I know this will sound mean but instead of getting boobs, she should have gotten her nose fixed. Was it me or did she not look like she had it broken before?

Sanjaya. Wow.

The girl with the black hair/red highlights is Gina.

I was SO happy Dialidol was wrong about the girls. Yeah, Haley should go home...but Leslie would've been gone next week if not this week. Thank G-D Alaina got sent home. I did feel bad that she got so emotional that she couldn't keep it together to start her song. I feel like people have come close to that before--but I sat there thinking "This was bad enough last night...now it's even worse that she can't find her place or her notes!"

AJ should NOT have gone home. I was happy though that Sunjaya admitted he sucked. Too bad he's not gone yet. I will be hoping next week.

Well, another disappointing results show. I didn't think Nick or A.J. would win, but I really didn't want them to go so soon. I'm sad that Antonella & Sanjaya are still around because I feel so terrible watching them struggle on stage. The both seem like great kids who would be welcome additions to community or college music programs or theatre departments or church choirs if that's their thing. Why does everyone who can sing a little bit need to be a professional singer??? It's just not gonna happen.

I'm really happy for Kellie Pickler. The hair aged her, but she's living her dream so I'm not going to pick on her!:)

I can't help but think "Goat Girl Version 2.0" whenever I see Antonella.

I was listening to a local morning show on the radio on my way to class, and the hosts were saying how they thought Antonella was hot and good looking, but that's why she's moving on. One made a point of saying "She's really good looking, but she sadly thinks she can sing. America set her straight. Please." I laughed.

There's no publicity like free publicity. Antonella in scandalous photos is fabulous for ratings and interest in the show. She generally fits the mainstream pretty attractive young woman category, and having this controversy surrounding her brings interest in the show and putting the American Idol name out there. Plus she sucks, a lot, so I'm guessing they'll hope she gets kicked soon enough

I don't know - there is just something bizarre about her appearance. And I really feel like there is Fanfasia Jr on the stage when Stephanie sings. I think Kelly is the only one who has come out with amazing talent. This time around I think Lakisha, Melinda, Gina (as a rockstar) and Chris Sligh are awesome. I'm hoping the winner ends up as one of them.

Now you've done it! Now you've gone and VOICED AN OPINION - you know those aren't allowed around here! Besides, you know nothing of culture & what it means to people... a white man like yourself knows nothing about culture... ;) :p :D bwahahahahaha

I guess it is what you like though. I am so impressed with Chris Daughtry right now and have fallen in love with "It's Not Over". I think I may buy his CD. America voted him out but he's doing pretty damn good right now.

I'm a HUGE fan of Chris Daughtry. I'm glad he didn't win Idol, mainly because he was free to do his own thing and not have to worry about that contract that all winners must sign. I bought like half of his songs on itunes:)

All the AI winners seem to be doing well except for Taylor. I haven't heard any of his songs except for the one he did for that Ford (or was it Chevy?) commercial.

I wasn't a Carrie fan but I really like "Before He Cheats".

I'm listening to "Before He Cheats" right now!

And I haven't heard anything from Taylor since his single came out. I think the reason his album isn't selling is because he is a performer. I would not buy his album, but I would fight for tickets to see him in concert. Just my $.02

I LOVE Chris Daughtry too and have since he first appeared on AI. I was devastated when he was voted off, but you are right, it was better for him in the long run.

As for Sanjaya, while I get so frustrated that he is still there I kind of feel sorry for him too. I think that he knows that he shouldn't be there and always looks awkward on stage.

I guess I do agree with you. Even though I can't stand him, I always do feel sorry for him. Especially when he's waiting for the results and he looks like a whipped puppy:(

Yeah, I actually have his CD, and I really like it.

And I just heard Elliott Yamin's new song, and while it's not my style... damn, the boy can sing! It helps not to have to look at him. ;)

I agree... I have his CD and love love love it :)

I think it's kind of weird when you hear his radio spots though (at least on the local stations it's something like "This is Chris Daughtry from Daughtry and you're listening to..."

I realize the band's name is "Daughtry" and he's throwing the band name in there to not sound like a pompous jerk, but I just think it sounds funny :p

I love the songs though and agree he was better off not getting the Idol title.

It seems like it doesn't even matter anymore who wins the title because anyone in the Top 10 is likely to get a record deal anyway and be heard on mainstream radio stations (I do find it somewhat funny that I don't ever hear Taylor, Ruben S, or Fantasia on any of the mainstream stations, although I think they get some airtime on 'adult contempory' stations which don't seem to be as mainstream in the DFW and yet some of the Idol 'losers' are played all the time on mainstream radio like Kelli Pickler, and Chris Daughtry who is getting tons of airtime on mainstream radio stations)

I don't know what he's been up to, but last weekend he took part in the Honolulu Symphony's "Return to Romance" series and performed with Natalie Cole and Kenny Loggins at the Waikiki Shell. Ruben was amazing.

It was a WONDERFUL performance and I definitely got my money's worth!

My roommate and I were wondering "Why on earth is she crying???" She was crying like someone beat her up before the show started or something. She kinda got on my nerves:rolleyes:

I really liked Melinda tonight. She was AMAZING!!! I would like to see her or Chris Richardson win.

My favorite last night was Jordin. Everyone else was ehh or boring, even Lakisha and to a lesser extent Melinda.

I thought Sanjaya and Haley actually had good performances this week. It might be time to say buh-bye to Phil.

I was sooooooo bored last night. I thought Sanjaya was terrible! Just because he bounced around and didn't look quite as awkward doesn't mean it was good. He still didn't sing in tune half the time.

I've decided I hate Chris R's voice. It's way too nasaly-I-try-to-sound-like-Justin-Timberlake for me.

And overall it was just blah tonight. I think part of it was the theme, though.

I enjoyed Jordin and Melinda a lot last night, Lakisha wasn't quite as good, I think it was song choice. But they are definitely my top 3 right now.

Sligh bugs the crap out of me now - he's got this attitude I can feel rolling off of him, like he is shocked that he's not the best, how could you possibly not think he's awesome and why would you criticize him? He thinks he's hip like Blake and he's trying to be, but he just isn't.

Chris R I've never really cared about, same with Phil. I loved Blake...I don't think he'll win, I think he's a little too far ahead for people to think he's AI commercial.

Haley...she's like nails on a chalk board to me, just blah and fake and boring. Gina is quickly going that route for me too. I just think she's so "on" all the time she comes off as totally insincere. Stephanie manages to be kind of forgettable - she's got a great voice, I just don't think she's hit it out of the park yet, and if she doesn't very soon, she's gone I think. At least Gina has the stupid "rocker" thing to set her apart, but Stephanie and Haley are pretty boring. It's too bad for Stephanie, she's miles better than Haley vocally, but I think she'll go soon.

Sanjaya...you know, I feel bad for him. He's trying his best, but he just doesn't have the vocal abilities the others do - and he knows it. Now he's hiding behind flashy performances, which will likely keep him around a bit longer. It's too bad...I think he's the weakest singer on the show right now, and it's embarrassing to keep him around because he's "cute".

And how funny was Crying Girl last night? I was laughing my ass off the whole time, she was freaking hilarious.

My bottom 3 - Phil, Sanjaya, Haley
The real bottom 3 - probably none of them

I really like Chris R - he is just adorable to me (not in the sex-you-up sort of way) - I was glad he stayed.

Someone PLEASE get a big burlap sack and carry SanjayBYE home & take Phil with him - Phil has never sounded good to me.

I am getting to be bleh about Chris S. Last night, Lakisha sounded creepy-old-pervert-lady-next-door'ish to me - the song was bad, and she looked awful singing it. Even a million bucks of bling couldn't help her. I wouldn't have been sad to see her go.

Melinda is growing on me, and I still like Jordin. Haley's shoes were SUPER cute last night - her song was good, but she isn't right for AI. Sort of like a watered down version of Katheryn McPhee (that is her name, right?!) - shows you how much I cared about last season. Blake is still fun to watch, but he can't afford to be predictable.

I just finished watching last night's American Idol on DVR and I think I tune in every week just to hear Melinda Doolittle sing. (Even with all the gleeking this week, she was still ridiculously awesome)

Here are some other observations made by yours truly from last night's show:

1. According to the BF, the best part of Sanjaya's performance was his sister's boobage. I had to disagree:

http://foreveridol.com/images/girl_crying.jpg

2. Timberlake sounded good tonight, I really dug the stools and "acoustic" intro. Poor Beyonce didn't do so well this week, the song she chose had so much potential. Too bad it didn't live up to expectations.

3. Blake is cool. He needs to be fronting a band like Maroon 5 or something.

4. When LaKisha was singing, BF asked, "Why does this sound like a 007 James Bond Movie theme song?" My response? "Because it is, you dolt." GG me.

5. Every year about 440,000 people die from illnesses related to cigarettes. Last night, Jordin Sparks' performance made at least 8 people slit their wrists. Not exactly enough to warrant a Surgeon General's warning, but if she has 55,000 more performances like that.......

6. I hope that twenty years down the road, when she's older, smarter, and tougher, that girl crying in the audience gets to see how awesome she was on American Idol.

7. You can mute Haley Scarnato and still enjoy her performance and Simon said it best -- "you'll be remembered tonight but it won't be for your performance."

I agree with crying girl looking like Marcia Brady.

My friends at school today were talking about last night's performances and one said (no joke): "I wonder if crying girl is psychologically insane. I mean, at first I thought he was making her cry because he sounded so bad. Because really, he sucks. But when I realized she was crying out of sheer happiness I had to question this girl's reality perception. Because Sanjaya can't sing his way out of a sinking ship." We all concurred.

I'm sad that the person who left tonight left, but the performance given last night wasn't great. Didn't wow. And didn't require every crazy nut in America to pick up the phone and vote for a she-man.

Did anyone else notice that Gina thought she was in the Bottom 3 because she got called out at the same time as Sanjaya and Haley? Way to tell America what you think of your competition. I mean, she's right...but still.
