I know I'm mostly a lurker, but how hard would it be for the owner to add Symbol as one of the fonts here?

I use firefox mostly, and it always confuses me to see PBFs and KAQs because the Symbol font doesn't work quite right!

seriously. i thought it was me at first, because my letters werent coming up in my old signature. and then i updated my version of firefox, and nothing.

but i also notice that some people have their letters in their GC name and/or signature and i can see it just fine.

any answers?

Using Symbol font to display Greek letters with Netscape 6+
1. Go to the directory in Windows Explorer for \Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\res\fonts

2. Open fontEncoding.properties with a text editor such as Notepad.

3. Find the line containing the symbols definition. It should look like:

# Symbol font
encoding.symbol.ttf = Adobe-Symbol-Encoding

4. Replace it with:

# Symbol font
# encoding.symbol.ttf = Adobe-Symbol-Encoding
encoding.symbol.ttf = windows-1252

6. Save the file and restart your Netscape browser.

For those using Firefox

1. Find the Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/res/fonts folder for the file fontEncoding.properties and open it in WordPad/Notepad.

Replace these lines:

# Symbol font
encoding.symbol.ttf = Adobe-Symbol-Encoding

with these lines:

# Symbol font
# encoding.symbol.ttf = Adobe-Symbol-Encoding
encoding.symbol.ttf = windows-1252

Save the file and then restart Firefox and your Greek symbols will show up now.

I am too lazy to do this, so to me it looks like everybody with an Alpha Phi signature is talking about her period. LOLZ.

Mine works now! I haven't been able to see Greek letters since switching over to FF.

Thanks!

That I could have fixed.

I can edit it, but then it won't save. In fact tells me that it cannot create that file because it doesn't exist.. or something. Very odd error.
Don't know if this is a Vista issue or a Firefox issue.
