Did they really lose? It was a pretty good snippet -- was that profanity I heard, though? You know that's points off.

But yeah, I hate lots of dancing and skits in step shows. Just step.

Yes, they lost. It was probably the best Omega step show that was ever put together. From theme, to costume, to originality, to the actual "STEPPING". It was the SMLAC Delta Alumni Stepshow 2006. The snippett does not do their show justice. It was precise, tight, and ORIGINAL. No old, recycled steps, no dancing.....just pure Omega funk

While the winning team was entertaining, they only "stepped" for maybe 1/4 of their allotted time. It was all skits and dancing.

I was at that show and saw Tau chapter perform. A lot of people were confused about how they did not win. But it was a great show nonetheless.

Over the years I've seen that a lot of da Bruhs don't really step and they especially don't step to actually win. They hop for da bruhs, competition be damned.

At the same time, I've seen a few tight Bruh shows but those were mostly traditional shows with no real themes and just stepping. And they lost to the dancers. But I've also seen a hop team of 2 Bruhs win a competition. Straight E and no fluff--it just so happened that the crowd and judges preferred E over the glitter outfits and whipped cream routines of the other teams.

This is the full show from TAU Chapters 2006 Conclave winning show. It wasn't even as good as the one they lost.

i know this is real late, but while there show was good. the rules of this show placed an emphasis on how well your theme was incorporated based on classic television shows and movies the IOTAs that won followed the rules and won. So now there is no need for the confusion

You are mistaken. The Bruhs "Malcolm X" Theme was based on the movie and was on point. It incorporated scenes from the movie that were incorporated in the "steps", not into 10 minutes of skits and "la cauge au folles" or whatever gay musical that the Iotas did. If anything was deducted, the Bruhs show went over the time limit by a few seconds, but the Bruhs stepped and while the Iotas paid homage to Ru Paul.

Speaking of stepping v. dancing, the bruhs need to let the sour grapes go. The comment made by the Omega after the national step show competition was unnecessary and just made them look like whiners. There was nothing about their show that I haven't seen fifty million times--I mean you could anticipate what they were going to do next.

LG, there is no doubt if you were at the show there would be no doubt that the Bruhs won. The only other competiton were the winning Iotas and that was for their "entertainment" content. They only "stepped" for maybe 4 out of their 11 minutes on stage. The Bruhs, hopped, marched, and "stepped" their entire show. No interludes or skits. Plus, the hops were completely original. No re-treads, re-mixes, or leftovers. It was the best Bruh show I have ever seen, hands down

It doesn't matter what other fraternities do, or how they do it!

OMEGA is innate, it's in the heart...Her Honor is priceless...and cannot be defined by temporal things like a trophy or a check.

So, if it's just a basic hop, a spin or shoot...we MARCH in line with tradition...tested, proven and still standing for close to a century.

Roo to DAMN BRUHZ! Keep seeing it through....

My Frat still won tho....lol

But on da realness.. I saw the clip and I must admit.. My Iota fam must have had a flawless routine to beat that.

Wow, I know I'm late and thangs, but I'm currently a member of SM-LAC, and I was at this show. The Omegas wuz robbed, in my opinion. But here's the thing - there are judges from each of the Divine 9 organizations. The highest and lowest scores are thrown out, and then the scores are averaged - the sorors of SM-LAC have NOTHING to do with who wins or loses.

The Iotas show was based on the movie "Life", which is a comedy. So of course they used comical lines from the movie, like the "you gon' eat yo cornbread?" line or whatever...they also incorporated the "gay acting" confict in their show... These antics had the majority non-greek crowd laughing and clapping, which must have affected the judges scoring. The bruhs show was more serious - no jokes or comedy in Malcolm X. It was REALLY TIGHT though - the ending, where they simulated the assassination, was the best part, in my opinion.

I wasn't surprised when I heard that they won the conclave step show with that performance - many of the GREEKS at the show were shocked that the bruhs didn't win. Yet the majority non-greek crowd was cheering that the "Life" show won.

They lost because there was no difficulty or intricacy in their steps. Same basic power steps that anyone can do. Don't need gimmics but some variety would help. Most parts of the country, Ques loose step shows all day long...

Yes, they do.

Even when they incorporate gimmicks and intricacy.

I am in the minority in that I prefer step shows with gimmicks and theatrics. Why? Because basic stepping has become redundant and the gimmicks, etc. are entertaining. And I hope every D9 org develops new signature steps soon, because they have all played out, imo.

Now if folx develop new intricate hardcore steps, then I am there.
