Boom Boom Cheer

Hi ladies!

I've been looking up some cheers on various GC boards and online, and one that keeps coming up for every sorority is called Boom Boom. Everyone mentions how addicting it is and they can't get the tune out of their head. Just wondering, can anyone someone explain how this cheer sounds or direct me to a link where I can hear it? I know that seems unusual, but I can't believe I've never heard such a popular cheer before, and I'm wondering what all the hullaballoo is about. Thanks for your help.

When I was a recruitment counselor, we used to talk about how funny it was that all the chapters on my campus had some sort of "boom boom" song. It wasn't the same song, they all just had some variation of "boom boom" in one of their songs.

For our RC reveal, we all memorized a song from each of the chapters and sang them together. The one for Pi Phi was their "boom boom" song.

Actually, I think the "boom boom" thing goes back to at least the 1920s or earlier...you know, "rah rah sis boom bah" from the days when students waved a felt pennant at the game. It would be an interesting entymological study.

i remember the ZTAs when i went through rush singing the same song, small differences of course:

Yes, I think we've found the "culprit" song. KDLady06, if you look on the KD website under the file cabinet (private side) it will show you the tune of this song, and most likely the same tune as the other songs, too. :p

My chapter sang the boom boom song conniebama posted, but we substituted "Hey Hey" for the "Boom Boom" b/c the Tri-Deltas at our school sang a song that went "Ba-doom, Ba-doom, Tri-Delta" and we didn't want to impose. :) UCF is very big on door songs and having the PNMs memorize a song for each chapter.

The one that would be the "boom" song is "I love the crescent moon..." and that's to that "boom-de-ah-dah" melody.
