I'm making our sisterhood video for recruitment and am looking for ideas of good songs to put on it...ones that give a feeling of how much you value your sisters like Michelle Branch's "I'll always be right there," if anyone has any good ideas please let me know! (The video is filled with pictures of us at formals, football games, socials, etc, with music and voice overs of what the sorority means to us) Thanks!

Billy Joel's 'Time to Remember' is a classic. Everyone uses 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' and 'Life is a Highway' - overdone! 'Feels Like Home' is fantastic; our girls used that last year.

For the whole sorority-life sort of presentation at Info night, they used that natasha bedingfield song "unwritten", which i like, but it's getting old/overplayed. We also heard some other song, it might have been country? I tried to Google it but couldn't the lyrics but something like these are the memories that will last you for the rest of your life, something about a box of photos from the attic. I don't remember the rest of it. Maybe the Michelle Branch song "You Get Me", which, surprisingly was the theme song from the sorority life tv show (I just found this out). Random, but there's a song called Poprocks & Coke by Green Day that I really like as well, but it might be a little rock-ier for your presentation.

Second on what the previous posters have suggested, and my chapter actually uses the Michelle Branch "I'll always be right there" song during pref night - it always gets the girls crying!

I also like Jefferson Starship "nothing's gonna stop us now", it's kinda more of a love song but our seniors used it last year for something and it was really cute!

"This One's for thr Girls" by Martina McBride. I love this song and the chorus sums up the complete sorority experience.

This one's for the girls,
Who've ever had a broken heart;
Who've wished upon a shootin' star:
You're beautiful the way you are.
This one's for the girls,
Who love without holdin' back;
Who dream with everything they have.
All around the world,
This one's for the girls.

I like KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I See." An excerpt:

Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

IMO, 'Feels Like Home' is overdone as well.

I must have visited 2340293842039742034 sorority websites that used that song as an intro just last year alone. Chances are they've used that song for many a pref ceremonies as well.

If you want old school Cyndi Lauper, "All Through the Night" has always been a favorite.

Beatles- In My Life is another good one

I don't remember what we used in the slide show, but I know some of the other songs we used were "Perfect Day" from the Legally Blonde soundtrack, the Sigma Kappa rap by DJ $crilla, and "Unwritten" (previously mentioned).

This may be a little too punk for what you're going for, but '87 by the Bouncing Souls is another good one.

Here's to the Night- Eve 6

If you're going for sappy..."For Good" from the musical "Wicked" is a good one.

Excellent suggestion! Upbeat, catchy, and not overdone.

If the Kappa in your name refers to Kappa Kappa Gamma... :)

You should check out the Shawn Colvin song "Never Saw Blue Like That Before"... we used it at our Pref Ceremony, it's really sweet.

Some of my favorites are:

"Every little thing she does is magic" - The Police
*If you wanted a more upbeat version, there's one out by Ra. Might be a little TOO heavy though.

"Somewhere over the rainbow" - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

I like "You look wonderful tonight" by Eric Clapton, though I've never heard it used before as far as recruitment videos.

I've heard AOPi's use "The Rose" by Bette Midler. I think its great if your org has a rose.

Good call!!

With a Little Help from my Friends by Joe Cocker (a'la Wonder Years!)
Closer to Fine by the Indigo Girls (this is actually one of our official chapter songs)
Higher and Higher- Jackie Wilson
Swing Life Away- Rise Against (again, may be a bit too heavy for ye, but if done right...)

I didn't read the whole thread so someone might have already mentioned this one, by my chapter has been using "Road Outside Columbus" by O.A.R. It's about going off to college and finding a home away from home. Our video typically starts with O.A.R., then has some sort of angel song, and then closes with "Feels Like Home."

My chapter was planning to use Esthero's Wikked Lil' Grrrls for the sisterhood/social video, which would've worked really well if we didn't have technical problems!
