Question about recommendations

A good friend of mine from high school is a freshman at James Madison University and *might* be going through recruitment this fall. I am a senior collegiate member of Sigma Kappa. Can I write her a rec, or are recs only accepted from alumnae? If so, what should I write in the rec, and how long should it be? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Each org has it's own policy. Collegiate ASAs may write recs. I don't know about SK, but I believe there's a thread around here someplace with the answer.
