TC national should recognize gay alumni. Although silent in most cases we have showered chapters with money and support with no ulterior or unseemly motives. Many great MEN in history have been homosexual and members of Theta Chi. At least stand up and be counted now. If you find out a brother is gay and have a big problem, then you are not really his brother.

Dog, what are you talking about? If Theta Chi weh52 is your brother, and has a problem with your national respecting homosexuals it should be dealt with. Brotherhood is to back each other up 100%. I'm not a homosexual so do not get that idea; I'm typing this just in the name of brother's rights. I am typing this message to say plain and simple, your brotherhood is weak. Not your nationals or chapters, but your own; this goes out to Optimist Prime. Your show of brotherhood too is weak, zntke711. In my fraternity we support everyone 100%! I think that you guys need to pledge all over again. As a alumni he stills particapates and/or donates money he deserves his props. Now, maybe he should have wrote this to national and not some message board that the world can read, but perhaps he did and did not get far with them, but, whatever.

You're missing the point. I want it erased cuz its not true. If there was a post saying that your org was nazis you would want that gone right? Its not true, that is why i want it gone, but ohwell. Nationals (sic)recoginises all alumni as long as they paid they're dues and are in good standing with chapters.

sounds rational to me. I'd want it gone too, if it's not true.

I don't know which is worse, the fact that i'm taking the time to respond to this, or the fact that one of my brothers is taking it up the ass.

wow. i agree that this is most likely false. come on, theta chi is not a nationally gay fraternity and for someone to say that a good deal of prominent theta chi's were gay is just ridiculous. i hope i never have to see or hear about a similar statement by one of my fraternity brothers.

I will defend a member of any fraternity or sorority who is gay. They are people, too. Unlike Nazis, they don't go around killing people or harming anyone. It is simply a way of life and they ARE NOT enforcing it on you. Your brother is your brother no matter their sexual orientation, as would my sister still be my sister (and don't pull that double standard crap!!!). Besides, they probably wouldn't find someone as ignorant as yourselves attractive anyway. They'd have much better taste than that. I have always loved my Theta Chi's here at GMU...they were the first greeks I ever met. They are upstanding, wonderful men and I hate to see them disgraced by a few incredibly ignorant individuals. If you really do believe in Theta Chi, love your brothers- ALL OF THEM!

Why is this still here? Its like spam, someone with no post count comes and tries to act like we discriminate, at least not at my chapter and I'm sure thats the same for most!!

flounder is overreacting, this guy is just acting that Theta Chi alum be recognized, as Theta Chi alum. Why they would want that, boggles my mind. I mean we're all brothers, so it really shouldn't matter what your sexual orientation is. So what if your gay or not, as long as no ones discriminating against you then in my personal opinon they dont really deserve any special treatment. Because if we did that then we would have to specially recognize black brothers, then asian brothers, then hispanic brothers, then european brothers, then canadian brothers, and then american brothers. That would be individualizing yourself, in an organization which strives for common bonds. Thats my personal opinon, take it or leave it.

How lame is this? Why don't you just request that IHQ recognizes all African-American Theta Chis or all special needs Theta Chis or born-again Christian Theta Chis. Whether you agree with the homosexual lifestyle or not is a separate issue from the brotherhood of the fraternity. When you break down members based on any arbitrary category, you begin to fragment and make a mockery of the concept of brotherhood.

I have brothers in my own chapter who are openly gay. I don't agree with their lifestyle and have been very candid with them about it. But, I love them as brothers of Theta Chi apart from the choice they've made. To me, it's the same as if they were fans of a sports team that I personally hated, for example. When you differentiate brothers for one reason or another, you make divisions in the very thing that unites us.

If you think one should not be called brother because he happens to disagree with your deviant and unnatural lifestyle, I submit that it's YOU who are not worthy of the Theta Chi name.

I actually talked with someone, a reginonal advisor or someone at IHQ (can't remember, it was a while ago). He told me that we have had at least one gay National President.

What type of sex he had and with whom would be disrespectful of me as a brother to commet on, as my brothers' personal private lives are...well, just that. You're not being a good brother if you hate another brother for any reason or are disrespectful to them, even if you have different....oppinions.

Love and respect ALL of your brothers.

What about non-christian brothers? Am I less of a brother b/c I prefer the teaching of buddha to the bible?

as a new brother and founding father of Iota Kappa, I can say i'm actually surprised this didn't get erased when it was requested, but, since its still here, i'll add my two cents.

to loosely qoute a line from Adam Sandler in Big Daddy, "I figure their just like any other guy, they just watch a different kind of porn."

Are we honestly having this "discussion?"

Perhaps this is why Brother Westol Resigned.

If you go to ANY Chapter other than your own, you will find Brothers you don't like. However, you must still trust the fact that YOUR BROTHERS thought this man was a good enough person to entitle them to the secrets of our ritual and you must respect their opinion as much as you would expect them to respect yours.

READ YOUR FUCKING MANUAL.

Brother Westol resigned more from AFH related things, as I understand it. Beta Nu does fairly well at keeping in touch with IHQ (we've got someone interning there this summer actually), but if you want to talk more about that, it should be in private.

That said, we have three brothers who are out, and they've been some of the best members of the chapter. I couldn't give a rat's ass what kind of porn they like, there's no way in hell I'd want them anywhere but at my side.
'Scuse my French.
