Well since summer is finally here, I was wondering what different type of activities are happening in different area's of the country.

We all know about Essence Music Festival (in Houston this year) but what else is going on in your neck of the woods?

Picnics, greek activities, concerts, and festivals. Please put what city, what date and what type of activity.

I know...it is kind of hard to believe, lol. A few months ago Dipset performed up here too. Can you imagine Dipset in the Lehigh Valley? LOL

ETA: You're more than welcome to crash! ;) My new apartment is right in the middle of Musikfest too, all within walking distance. Parking is gonna suck for me around that time though.

I went there for the first time last year, and was amazed. It is such a big event there. We have taste of STL and Tastes of CWE/Clayton/South Grand, but the turnout isn't near as big. I was most shocked about the demographics, there were a lot of black people there.

Know what I HATE??:o When out-of-towners call it the Taste Fest. I have no idea why this urks me so much. :( I was honestly thinking about the chocolate covered strawberries this morning LOLOL. I didn't get a chance to get any last year.

Dionysus did you expect it to be a lot of white people or just not as many blacks as there were?

BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Hi-five on that one (esp. given that I hate feet enough already as it is ; some folks need to keep dem dogs covered up 24/7/365...no amount of lotion will help them  ).

On the topic: I'm looking forward to the local Juneteenth celebration. That's 'bout it; I'll be too busy working to enjoy much else. :(

I expected a lot of of white people, that's the way it in Taste of St. Louis (and the tastes of near by areas). I was also shocked that a good number of people didn't dress up.

Why would anyone dress up? It's not that formal of an event.

Ok I see. Well the Chicagoland population has A LOT of minorities/immigrants (black, african, mexican, puerto rican, polish, german etc) just to let you know. And it's kinda pointless to dress up for the Taste b/c 9 times out of 10 you'll be sweating too much to look cute or you will spill/have food spilled on you. :o I guess they do things differently down in St. Louis.;)

the annual Black Family Reunion will be held August 18-20. our chapter, Sigma Omega, will host the Children's Pavilion complete w/games and educational activities.

I so didn't know that until I visited up there last summer. HC this isn't universally known? We asked like 10 people for directions to our hotel, only three or four of them spoke English.

I liked how everyone was so nice, I didn't expect that either, with chi being a pretty big city. They weren't afraid to talk to strangers like they are down here.

I wish I can go back this summer. Nevermind, I would like to LIVE there!
