does anyone know how to make the single size popcorns bags? Mine keeps burning:mad: I followed the directions the first time: cooking it for 3 minutes. Then I tried using the popcorn button and it still burned.
grrr... pop secret

Do you let it go for the whole 3 minutes? When I used to make it, I found that if I stopped the microwave when I stopped hearing kernels pop, it wouldn't burn.

I do the regular ones at 3.45 and they always comes out good. I did the single for 3 and it came out. You must have a powerful microwave!

hehehe - I just ate an individual sized bag of popcorn... On my microwave, if I press the popcorn button more than once, it gives the options of "bag size" - a normal bag is the 3.0/3.5 ounce, and the mini-bags work perfectly on the 1.75 ounce setting.
Otherwise, hanging out by the microwave and stopping it when the pops are only every few seconds works well too.

Just sit and listen to the bag while it's popping, and when the popping gets really slow take it out.

For single size popcorn bags, I put the timer at 2.45. And standy by just in case the kernels know something that you don't.;)

This varies a TON by microwave. I do a regular size bag at 2:25 and it's perfect. I can't imagine doing a mini bag that long!

I eat the single serving mini-popcorn bags all the time. My microwave at home only requires about a minute & a half but the microwave at work is really awful & takes about three & a half minutes.
No matter how long it takes though, you should never walk away from the microwave. Always stay & listen! I think the directions on the bag even instruct you to listen & then take the bag out of the microwave when popping slows down between 1-2 seconds per pop.

I should add... a coworker set her garage on fire after burning a bag of popcorn. It was smoldering in the bag and she didn't realize it and tossed it in the garbage in the garage to keep the smell out of the house. A half hour later, she went to take the trash to the curb and discovered her garage was on fire.

when i lived at the house, we would make popcorn. we would follow the instructions and all the popcorn was black.
we figured that our microwave was on roids.
so we only put it in for 1:30.
ooooh yummy. butter was melted...add a shitload of salt. oh yeah man. movie night at the Pike house with our giant big screen.
god i miss the house :(
A lot of microwaves have low, medium and high settings and are default set at high. That might be part of the problem.
I always listen for the popping to slow, and if there's more the 2-3 seconds between a pop, I stop the microwave, even if it hasn't gone the full time.

I think my popcorn button lets you set the size of the bag ... maybe you could try changing that... otherwise yeah, listen for the slow popping, nothing smells worse than burnt popcorn ... I did it once and my microwave smelled bad for about two weeks.

I burnt popcorn about three weeks ago in my dorm room. I went through a can of NeutrAir to get the smell out. I haven't eaten popcorn since.

I, too, almost burnt down my office. I put a minibag in the micro, went in the other room till I heard the timer go off. I smelled something, went in the kitchen and the micro was SMOKING. So i hurried up, took the bag out and opened it and everything was black. I put the bag outside but the smell wouldn't leave my tiny office. It sucked.
