Ladies in Sigma Kappa-
One of my favorite alumnae stories is that of Margaret Chase Smith- who was the first women elected into the Senate. She served as both a Representative, then later Senate, the first to be elected into both houses. I want to go into politics, and I like to use that as a key bit of info. Most people didn't realize our political routes. If you have any other alumnae stories- please share!

Famous Alum!! Yay! I hope to be a famous alum someday and bring such awesome national attention to our sorority but here are the little stories I know.
The lady who wrote the screen play for the Julia Robert's movie, Mystic Pizza was a Sigma Kappa.
The women who came up with the idea of Barney, Sigma Kappa.
I think Dr. Seus wife was a Sigma Kappa...or at least that is the rumor going around my suite.
The tall gorgious red head who used to be on Boy Meets World was a Sigma Kappa.
There are lots! Our chapter website has a list if anyone is interested in checking it out. I don't know the address by heart, but we're at the University of Tennessee..Alpha Delta.

Yeah- In Mystic Pizza- we watched it during our 'New Member' Retreat. There is so much symbolism in there! Pearls w/ the wedding, "Mystic" Pizza. And Dr. Seus- it was esp. fun when The Grinch came out- because they had the songs- listen carefully- and you'll hear part of our words in it!
Oh- that Tall Redhead- is Maitland Ward (Boy Meets World)- I'm working on a famous alum. page for my scrapbook.
Yay for our famous alum- hopefully I'll join the ranks some day! Love in the Dove!

I also hope to be a famous Sigma Kappa one day! My big and I were discussing it the other night, If, for example you became a famous singer, or were on the real world, etc, do you think Nationals would allow you to wear your letters, or be open about your Sigma-dom? on one hand, it would be great PR for our sorority, but on the other, what if you become in some horrible scandal?
In Sigma,

Of course you can wear your SK letters if you are in the media spotlight (like on the Real World)! I've spotted a couple Greek letter shirts throughout the seasons of both the Real World and Road Rules. If you are a Sigma Kappa, you can wear your letters.

I think I remember hearing that Margaret Chase Smith was a Honorary member (initiated after her college years) It is always great to have women of high standards in our sorority.
Kevin Costner's first wife is a Sigma Kappa.
Can we name more ??

I look forward to the day when years from now, they'll be proud to say that I was a famous alumn of Sigma Kappa from the Gamma Theta chapter. The same one that Maitland Ward was in. She was in Boy Meets World and a soap opera.

The woman who was involved with the developement of Barney is Linda Cress Dowdy. She is a lovely lady who I am proud to call sister. I was lucky enough to be know her as an Epsilon Epsilon in the early 70's at the Univ of Georgia'
