So my bestest friend got herself hitched this weekend! Long weekend, but SO exciting and fun!! I was a bridesmaid along with two other AX sisters - just the three of us. Made me really sentimental and gushy (as if I'm not already!) but I made it through the wedding with minimal tears (by the way, her husband - love saying that - is such a great guy... couldn't have made a better husband for her!)

So after the garter & bouquet toss (one of the sisters pushed a little girl out of the way to catch it but that's okay ;) ) we had the new groom sit on a chair and the beautiful bride sat on his lap and we all sang the Alpha Chi Sweetheart Song to him. There were probably 10 of us there altogether. It was so sweet :o

I just wondered what you all do at weddings for the bride and/or groom to celebrate in the Alpha Chi way.

Mine was the first Alpha Chi wedding a lot of us had been to, so I don't think a lot of us knew what we were supposed to sing, if anything. Our chapter is still new so we haven't had many weddings. One thing I did was have a sister by the guestbook to hand red carnations to every sister at the wedding.

I went to an AXO wedding years ago where all the advisors (I was one at the time) sang the "Sweetheart song." We pulled the bride up and we all stood around her while we sang to her...

Two of our advisors are currently engaged so I guess we'll see what will happen...

I heard that despite any superstitions of having red flowers in the bouquet, the bride and any bridesmaids who are Alpha Chi's are supposed to tuck a red carnation deep inside so nobody can see...is this true?
