hey mooks,
i have the bad case of the hiccups. i think i caught it from Rudeys mom.
anyways, how do you cure it? some weirdo name KDLady00 told me to drink water from a cup over a sink with a paper towel covering the cup while I hop on one leg and rub my tummy.
tried it. didn't work.
Suggestions please

While this seems to be an inside joke thread, I'll still answer with my very best remedy.
Hyperventilation
It resets your diaphragm!

Eat a little bit of granulated sugar.
Sounds weird, but it works every time. I get horrible hiccups, and I've taken to carrying sugar packets in my purse.

LOL You're supposed to drink water backwards over the sink.
You fill the glass with water and you lean over the sink and drink it from the opposite side that you would normally drink it out of...kinda upside downish
Sounds silly, but it works...I swear :)

Try to relax every muscle in your body. Think of the corpse pose in Yoga.
Works for me.

Yep. A little sugar packet will cure you right away. I wouldn't suggest more than one though. ;)

Try holding your breath. If that doesn't work, drink a whole glass of water without stopping. Drinking from the wrong side of the cup helps, too :)
This is totally unrelated, but on ER reruns the other day, a guy came in with hiccups he'd had for days. It turns out he had HIV  It was really weird.

Take a shot of lime juice.
I'm serious.

lie on a couch on your back with your head touching the floor in front of the couch. have a class of water in front of you, and drink from it slowly while upside down like that. be careful to not get it up/down your nose.
works for me everytime.

I drink some water. I bend over at the waist and swallow the water upside down. Sugar works also.

Using a pencil--- rub the eraser on the back of our your throat. Just up and down, gently.

breath holding is a good thing. a shot of scotch or another form of whiskey helps.

a spoon full of peanut butter
By the time it melts in your mouth, your hiccups will be gone (that's my old family cure and it does work!)

I'm a fan of eating a lil sugar or holding my breath and swallowing. I get hiccups a lot and they always hurt like heck. :(

I haven't had the serious hiccups in a long time...like years and years. I might get ONE hiccup after eating spicy food, but that's it. (I think the sugar does help.)

Stop complaining if all you got was the hiccups. Your dad gave me the herp.

Isn't ONE hiccup a burp?? How do you distinguish the two??

After the first hiccup, hold your breath and stay perfectly still for as long as you can. This usually works, but if it doesn't, the drinking water backwards thing can help, but it only works for me if I drink as much water as I can without breathing. Sugar can work as can drinking about a shot of bitters with a lime (which tastes like ASS but works).

Once in second grade I had the hiccups while taking a spelling test. I was really bad at spelling (and still am, as you may note), so I was cheating on this test, copying the words from the inside of my desk. My teacher came around, noticed me and slammed her fist hard on the top of my desk. I jumped 10 feet. I thought I was caught. I looked up at her frightened, and she smiled. "See? No more hiccups!"

Pinch your nose shut and drink water until you feel a drowning sensation, then release. They should be gone.
I also second the peanut butter idea.

A burp is air leaving your body. A hiccup is a contraction of the diaphragm or something. Two different things.

A teaspoon of granulated sugar. its disgusting, and I think thats what takes my mind off the hiccups and allows then to stop.
My sister gets the worst hicups, ever. Tis so funny, casue her 3 year old son gets them real bad too and he sounds just like her when he hiccups.
