All -

have been lurking on GC for a while now, and reading all the posts and stories of AI, and am ready to start my own AI process.

Here's my story: I bypassed formal recruitment as a freshman at IAstate in the early 80's, and decided to give it a try as a sophmore. I made it all the way through to the preference round, where I was cut, probably as much to do with grades as my ability to give the time (as an engineering major my time was limited). I continued to stay friends with many of the girls I knew from GLOs while in college, and gradually lost touch as our lives and our careers intruded.

As time has gone on, I find that I continue to look for opportunities to be more involved in volunteer/charitable organizations, and for opportunities to increase my social circle (is it possible to have too many friends?), and until I started my masters program 3 yrs ago, I volunteered periodically with several charities. Now that I am just about finished with my masters thesis, and my life is at a point where I have the time to start volunteering and actively engaging in an organization, I have started the process of looking/inquiring about AI.

I have sent emails to the headquarters of 3 GLOs inquiring about AI, and am now anxoiusly awaiting responses. I am nervous and excited, and would appreciate any advice and support you all have.

We are here to help guide you-- so keep us informed! Plus remember if you want-- come up with "fake names" for the chapters you have contacted to help keep them from getting mixed up in your posts when you report back!! ;)
