Does it strike anyone else as somehow just plain wrong that China (a communist country with lots of civil rights abuses) has most favored nation status when trading with U.S., but Cuba still has an embargo.

Yes. But I always make money selling the Cuban cigars that I bring back when I go overseas.

Cuba's leader has poor hygeine. Hence the embargo. It has nothing to do with Communism.
Maybe Mao wore the same damn thing all the time, but at least he looked clean.

It's the beard. But seriously, it all has to do with economics more then politics. Plus, there is very few lobby groups that calls for embargo with the Chinese. Whereas there is a strong Cuban lobby group that like to keep the embargo.

I agree; it's all economics.
Plus chances are that, barring some major setback, it won't be THAT long before the embargo with Cuba is lifted.

The Cubans and the Americans know the embargo will be lifted once Castro is dead.

Castro is immortal. His beard gives him power.
But honestly, given recent inroads it could happen before that . . . it all depends on how long it takes Fidel to die.

Maybe because hispanic voters are powerful voting group and any politician would risk be voted out if they lift the embargo?

I would be more specific and say Cuban-American voters when it comes to Cuban affairs.
