I need to pass some time before my interview, can anyone give me the URL to any websites that I don't know of. I do know of three. Where are the rest?
...and before the flaming begins...I usually lurk on these websites...and when I do say something, chances are that I said the same thing to their face on GC.

Does that actually happen?
Sorry, I easily miss these GC controversies.

Actually, it does. People blog about GC stuff all the time, where the vast majority of the time the people they're talking isht about won't read it.
Why? Because they are some simple azz people.

I just wanna say, if you guys need to call for a GC group hug IT'S OKAY.
Remember, you can protect your brainwaves in the meantime with your tin foil hats. :)

It definitely happens. I can only name one place that I know of, though, and something tells me Dionysus already knows about that one. ;)

Perhaps you might feel calmer, more reassured, with a little soothing background music? Link (http://www.koyote.com/users/tschmidt/Funnyfarm.html).

and they're probably reading this thread doing one of the following:
1. typing about it in their live journal
2. and saying "whatever" with a hair flip.

Oh, come on, James. You've seen it happen on AIM. Is it really such a stretch that it happens elsewhere?
For those out of the loop, there are basically two purposes to the GC LJ community:
1) asking "OMG is GC down again?????"
2) talking about other GCers behind their backs
I have no idea if this goes on elsewhere on the big ol' WWW and I have no real desire to find out, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was going on outside of LJ.

I am not part of the GC LJ community.
But yeah I have seen it happen on AIM. Although i can honestly say that the people that I speak to on IM, and its a lot, don't seem to have the level of . . . whats the word I am looking for? Malice, thats the word.
The people that I talk to don't seem to be as malicious as this thread implies people can be,
There are a lot of people on GC that post contrary opinions or get into arguments with people, but there are definitely some that are more malicious, petty or vindictive than the average.
As I said, it takes all types.

I don't think talking isht about people on other websites is malicious. Malicious inplies intent to harm. Talking isht is simply venting. Just like in "the real world," there are people online who we get along with and people that we don't. Sometimes people like to discuss that dislike -- or like. I'm not sure what makes it different from face-to-face interaction just because it's on the internet.
I can see why there are people turned off by the isht-talking, but unless they refrain from it in all areas of their life, both online and off, I think it's hypocritical. I'm not sure why the fact that it's about an online community rather than an offline one makes a difference.
