Yesterday, I had the opportunity to witness the women of Alpha Chapter, DST, singing and chanting on the yard. It was a lovely experience, plus I got to see Ramona from Survivor I!!!! (She is an initiate of Alpha Chapter.) I would have gotten a picture WITH her, but she seemed so exhausted afterward, I said forget it. Anyway, here they go:

See, these are the types of things I would have seen at a black college. We don't see folks representing like that on the yard down here. They just dog each other at probate shows. However, these are nice pics. Makes me wanna get a digital camera.

I am so proud to say that one of the new sorors at Alpha chapter is a Baltimore Metropolitan Alumnae scholarship recipient and we could not be more proud of her academic achievements or to call her soror!!

It really is a lovely presentation...so many voices, wonderful harmonies, and generally a nice spin on tradition. I see a few folks out there from my day!

Are all the lines at Howard so big? An administrator who use to work at my alma mater told me that AKA's always had long lines at Howard.

I've heard of bigger lines than that. Please don't corrupt this thread with talk of big lines. We have a thread about it already.

No, the first link is 2006. The second link is 2004 -- the rest of this thread referenced the 04 pics and I didn't want people to get confused.
I failed, lol.

Not trying to hijack the thread too much, but the gallery is pretty beautiful. Who's website is it? It has all the NPHC on there? Does a professional photographer take the photos?
Thanks for the hijack LOL
The Sorors looked absolutely beautiful! Alpha Chapter events are wonderful to go to. As a Delta you learn so much on those road trips to HU.

Hey there, I'm the photographer. I don't consider myself to be a professional, but I've been trying to extend the capabilities of my digital point & shoot while capturing the neophyte aesthetic here in DC.
I probably became inspired to document the neophyte aesthetic because of my professor of Religions of the African Diaspora. There are some similarities between certain organizations' visual representations and the traditions of Yoruba deities.
But all in all, it's just because I like coming out shows. :)
