A new AI Story unfolds

I've been lurking for weeks to read about other AI stories. Before I found this site I had already contacted IH and an alumnae chapter of a GLO that I was interested in. Well, after meeting with some of the women they have offered me the opportunity to join their sisterhood!!! I'm so excited! I've already filled out the AI application and just need to wait to hear back from IH but their Alumnae VP is local and has already heard all about me from the former President of the Alumnae Chapter. It's all happened so fast! If the paperwork is completed on time I might even be initiated this spring! Thanks to all of the other PNAMs who have shared their stories here I have hope that there will be a happy ending for me as well.

And, no, my user name is not an indication of the GLO for which I am a PNAM.

How exciting!! I know how you feel about not "revealing" until it is for sure. I didn't tell all until I got the official word from Gamma Phi - and I'll be initiated in a little over a week!

I almost feel guilty knowing what an uphill battle it has been for some other PNAMs. I made the initial point of contact with IH and the alumnae chapter. I met a few different women on 2 occasions and within a month of my first email they extended the offer of membership! I knew then that I had found my "home." I had rushed in college but never felt at home with any of the chapters. I'm so excited to get to know more women and become more involved. There are 2 other alum initiates in their chapter so that told me they were very receptive of the idea. It's so nice to have so many great people to share my story with!:)

Well, I can't help but hazard a guess -- I know that Gamma Phi Beta's headquarters is called IH -- any other GLO call their headquartrers that????????????????????;) :p :D

I'm assuming IH and IHQs are one in the same. We call AGD's main office, IHQ.

As in keeping with custom, I think we should refrain from guessing GLOs and maintain secrecy until the PNAM is ready to reveal her affiliation. :)

I would have to agree with my Triad sister as well. Most people have a reason for not telling.

HOWEVER, I noticed on another part of the GC boards, she mentioned how much she felt bonded to an ADPi person...
and meeting the alum chapter etc,

So I am guessing ADPi.

Y'all know full well -- as do I -- that there is nothing wrong with hazarding a guess about a PNAM's home-to-be. The AI threads here on GC are full of guesses by GC members.

And I also know, as my Triad sister (OTW) and GPhiB sister (SMRTBLND) have pointed out, that is is perfectly OK for the PNAM to maintain secrecy until her home is confirmed beyond any reasonable shadow of a doubt. I know that Little Bear will tell us where she's being initiated when she feels the time is right.

Thank you all for all the congratulations! My mom has been visiting so I haven't been able to post until now. She is excited for me as well.

Well, let's see. I think it was back in mid-March I met with one of the Alums for coffee and after chatting for an hour she informed me that they wanted to offer me membership in Gamma Phi Beta. I had an idea she was going to because she had a GPhiB folder with her that she hadn't brought before. I could hardly contain myself! Once she told me it took all I had not to jump over the table and hug her. I filled out the form and sent it back to her. And then.......just about 2 weeks ago the President of our AA called me up and told me everything had been approved. I was sooooooo happy. If I had had any doubts before that they were gone! I knew I had found my home. This past Monday then we had our first meeting of the year so I finally got to meet my sponsor (my big sis). She is WONDERFUL! She is also an AI so I can't wait to hear about her experience and learn everything I possibly can from her.

Of course the hard part will be waiting until next fall for Initiation but I know it will be well worth the wait. I will be initiated with the new members of Beta Gamma at BGSU.

Thanks again for all the congratulations. I hope to have many more wonderful stories to tell as I learn all about this wonderful sisterhood.
