Sesame Street has simultaneously taught me how to count and ruined my life.
To this day, whenever I'm counting out loud or in my head I sing "one two three FOUR five, six seven eight NINE ten, eleven tweeeelllllllllve". If any of you have heard this you know what I'm talking about.
My all time favorite is Teeny Little Super Guy:

I also like the Number Song. I may be thinking of some other PBS-esque show, but was there a song about Pinwheels? Because I vaguely remember one, but not the words or anything. I think it involved a bunch of kids on a playground or something playing with pinwheels.

But now i have a child and we watch it every morning and buy him elmo dolls i love "Elmo's World" ...."elmo loves his gold fish and cayrons too.... thats elmos world!"

Another one that I really liked was something like "Breathe in...breathe out...breathe in....breathe out..." something about being alive. I dunno. It was very disco-y 70's like.

There was...the theme song was something like "Pinwheel, pinwheel, spinning around..something something and see what I've found." I think it was on Nickelodeon.

Grover was my favorite so anything he sang was cool.
Didn't he have a song about being near and far?
And remember when the owl with the jazz club had a show and they sang Birdland? Or was that in a movie?
It's been a while obviously. I can't remember anything.
But "Follow that Bird" was my absolute fav movie when I was a kid.

If you read the book Sesame Street Unpaved, you'll see that there is a German techno version of "Rubber Duckie," sung by Ernie on the German version of Sesame Street and remixed by someone. It was actually a gigantic hit in Germany. I have a copy of it on my computer...it's very interesting, to say the least.

Okay somehow I am sure this will count. I got a German Techno Verson of Rubber Ducky on my computer (and a CD I made) so thats one...the second I have on my computer (and a CD I made) is Pride (havent seen the episode would be drooling if I did) but it was when my Goo Goo Dolls where on and singing with Elmo and it was to the tune of Slide.

The Rubber Duckie Song and (You've Got to) Put Down the Duckie if You Wanna Play Saxophone.
Also, I don't know if anyone remembers the 1987 movie Don't Eat the Pictures where Sesame Street gets locked in the Metropolitan Museum of Art overnight, but that had a bunch of great songs. There's a great number in there when Grover goes to the Arms and Armor Wing, and sees that the suits of armor are all real people and wants to play with them and gets sad that they don't respond.

I also remember them singing Up Up and Away.
I'm not sure if anyone else who remembers super old school Sesame Street (I'm talking when the original Gordon was still on) agrees with me, but some of those sketches really take on new meaning when you get older. Like maybe Mr. Hooper had some "herbal remedies" for sale at his store. :)

When Sesame Street started, I was working at a Public TV station in college. We all loved it, because "Educational Television" was so dry and stuffy in those days and here was something that was paced like Laugh-In which was huge on commercial TV at that time.
Even as college students, we would gather around the master control room or the "big" TV in the dorm TV lounges to watch Sesame Street.

Eli never watched Sesame Street much, but anytime they would play "Journey to Ernie" he was completely absorbed. He LOVED the song when Big Bird found Ernie:

Rubber Ducky was one of my favorites, however, Big Bird sang an alphabet song where he made the alphabet into one big word that sounded kind of like this:

I used to love the Elmo song, "No I Don't Want to Live on the Moon"; however, Rubber Ducky is a classic, as is anything by Cookie Monster. Random note: when the first "Tickle Me Elmo" came out years ago, I bought a "Tickle Me Cookie Monster" and, if ya'll haven't seen or heard one, Cookie Monster sounds like he's molesting a kid..haha..because he says "HAHAHAHA OH BOY OH BOY" :p
