1. Totonno's (http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7373608) pizzeria, in the Coney Island neighborhood of Brooklyn, is a place where we would get pizza, on occasion, when I was growing up. It has been there since 1924. Best pizza, and the absolute worst table service anywhere.
2. Patsy's (http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7182722) on 1st Avenue, in East Harlem. This small Italian enclave has produced some of the most notorious mobsters in American history. The pizza at the original Patsy's, open since 1932, is the best of the Patsy's clones.
3. John's of Bleeker Street (http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7116744), open since 1929, is the best in Greenwich Village.

That usually means it will have great food... Bad service is great, as long as the food is good...

I haven't been there in a while, but they had the rudest waitress on the planet. An absolutely miserable woman who was very, very nasty. No one cared because the pizza was so good.
Totonno's made fresh sauce and dough every morning. They would often close early because they ran out of sauce and/or dough.

Calderone - Milwaukee, WI (either East side, or downtown)
I asked the doorman at our hotel where to get good pizza. He said, "Calderone," and "tell Gino and Larry(?) I sent you."
Any pizza place, with a guy named Gino, will have spectacular pizza.

Because I know you're all dying to visit Corn country:
Ames, IA: Great Plains Sauce & Dough, Co. This is the best pizza in a 60-mile radius. They make both white and wheat crusts and have honey on the tables to drizzle on it when you're done eating the pizza part. Yum!
Marion, Ia Zoey's Pizzeria. A dinky hole-in-the-wall. They have both Chicago and New York styles and it's Just Good Pizza
Cedar Rapids, Ia Tomaso's Pizza. Another good, mom and pop pizza place where everything is homemade.

Mama's Pizza - Toronto, Ontario
It's a small chain restaurant, but the pizza is really good.
Vesuvio's - Toronto, Ontario
Local family business. Great pizza

A subject near and dear to my heart! :)
Grotto Pizza - Locations throughout Delaware. Yummy, chunky, spicy pizza sauce, not a ton of cheese, crispy crust. My favorite location is the one on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk.
Riccetta's Brick Oven - South Portland, Maine. Crust is tender on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Tons of unusual toppings. Love the pizza buffet during the week.
Amato's - Etna, Pennsylvania (just north of Pittsburgh). I've loved this pizza since I was a kid and make sure I go there whenever I'm home. Square pieces, very light crust, mild sauce and little fluffs of mozzarella on top. I never get toppings; no need to mess with perfection.
Beto's - Somewhere in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Super chunky sauce and they bake the pizza THEN sprinkle the cheese on just when it comes out of the oven.

Most people will tell you Lou Malnati's is the place to go in Chicago, but those who really know what they're talking about will tell you to go to Giordano's or Pizzeria Uno.

Papa's Pizza in Bolingbrook or Woodridge, IL. (suburbs of Chicago) My absolute favorite pizza. :)
Home Run Inn in Chicago is really good too.
Bloomington, IN: Mother Bear's, definitely.
Champaign, IL: Garcia's Pizza in a Pan. We used to have this in Bloomington too, and I miss it!

Lorobi's Downtown: Awesome & greasy pizza! The owner always gives me and my best friend a free pizza at the beginning and at the end of the school year, so, I don't mind stopping it, lol
Avalanche Pizza: It's in Athens, but dag on, GREAT pizza :D *yum*
Fatboyz Pizza: This place is for the super-thick-and-deep pizza's, great place in general

DONATO'S PIZZA!!
It is absolutely awesome! They have pizza, subs, and salads. Also, they just came out with the Low Carb Pizza (no crust)! Check out their website at www.donatos.com
They are located all over Ohio (originally founded in Columbus), in select cities in Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Detroit (and suburbs): Buddy's Pizza. It's amazingly good! Voted #1 in Detroit by every major news paper, magazine, etc.
I'll agree on Uno's, originally from Chicago, but they do have a chain now and the one that opened near me recently is just as good as the original!

In Chicago, the best place to go for pizza is Pizzeria Uno or Pizzeria Due -- but ONLY the original locations in the city. I think that the chain Pizzeria Unos suck.
If you want thin crust in Chicago, my personal favorite is Giordano's, but usually every little neighborhood hole in the wall has good thin crust.
In Colorado, well, I'm still looking for really good pizza. I don't think there is any.

Chicago blows for thin crust (or normal as I like to call it). But have you ever had Lou Malnatti's with butter crust? Awesome. I'd say for thin crust there is a place near rush and division but they charge about 4 bucks a slice which is a rip. I personally don't know how great it is because each time I've had it, I've been gnarly trashed from one of the bars/clubs around there.

Edwardo's= SICK SICK SICK. How can you compare Giordano's to Edwardo's?? Not a fair comparison.
And I totally agree with Valkyrie- the Pizzeria Uno & Due chains are nothing like the original.

Don't even start. Only for a couple of the food places there, le passage every once in a while, and possibly if one of my boys talks the rest of us into coming back with him. I hit on a 30 something year old who had just been a bridesmaid there once...of course I got nothing out of that but I don't think I could have done that in any of the places in Fullerton or whatever.

In Elmhurst, Queens, ya gotta do Singa's Pizza. On Broadway next to the LIRR station.
Here in Texas, this is chili country, they can't make good pizza to save their lives around here... unless there's some hole-in-the-wall pizza joints I don't know about! :)

In kansas city...
Minsky's is pretty good but I haven't eaten there in years. There also was a regional chain called Gambino's that I absolutely loved, but the location by my house closed while I was still in HS.
Torre's is probably the best local place in KC.
Other than that the place my family usually gets pizza from is called Rosati's. It's another franchised place but I guess the original is in Chicago and their website shows about 70 locations in Illinois. I love it b/c they put crushed tomatoes on in place of sauce so you always get a rich tomato taste.
In Nebraska: VALENTINO'S!!! the best pizza ever, and the most mammouth buffets outside a casino. Just a great pizza, and there's nothing like getting a slice of regular hamburger at a Nebraska Football game for $3. Awesome, it's making me hungry.
Finally b/c I do work at Old Chicago, I'll put in a push for our pizza, especially our original creations. Our dough is handmade on the premises, as is all the sauce, the cheese is grated in the restaurant, and you can taste it. Personally our deep dish isn't deep enough for me and the crust gets too crisp (I hate thin usually), but other than that it's all good1

I've never been to the Buddha Lounge, but I did used to hang out in Wicker Park. It's too bad that in recent years it has pretty much turned into Lincoln Park West.

Back home: Ginos Original (that's Toledo OH); Pizza house and COttage Inn in Ann Arbor MI are pretty good too.
For Chicago deep dish, Giordanos all the way (been known to carry a half baked on planes... you should see the looks you get when THAT goes through security)
AlphaSigOU was on the money re. pizza in Texas-- although there's a new family run place near me that's decent (Upper Crust).

Norwich, NY (upstate): Nina's. Family owned. BEST. PIZZA. EVER. I was spoiled with this WONDERFUL pizza for the first 10 years of my life. I then moved to Indiana and have since wanted to choke anyone who argues about which pizza place is better (i.e. Pizza Slut vs. Papa Johns...Domino's vs. Pizza King. gag me.). Also, down the road from Nina's is Pasquale's. Don't know much about them, but I heard they moved from NYC (not sure what part, but I heard little Italy) and that they have a joint or two up there. Any NYCers know of them?
Donato's (and pizza hut and domino's and etc etc etc) are DISGUSTING.

When I lived in NYC, I went with my parents to John's Pizza on 44th St and 8th Ave once a week. Now that we live in Arizona, we have yet to find a pizza place that we could go to on a regular basis (once a week).
