Does Cornell have formal recruitment in the Fall or Spring semester? I'm just being nosy and wondering if you're preparing for your first formal Recruitment week now or not :)

Hey Christin :)
We have our formal recruitment in the spring. I am reallly looking foward to it though, because my big sis and I are decorating the house for preference round!!!
Fall rush should be fun too. We have an informal rush, which gives us more one on one time with the girls.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I am always glad to meet new sisters! I have question...I have seen *bump* written on GC replies. What does this mean?
AOIIalum
09-04-2002, 10:20 PM
All "bump" means is someone is replying to a thread to "bump" it to the top of the forum list...so more people read it or to encourage more comments.
That's an easy one :) If you've got other questions, just ask away!
Roses,
Christin

Welcome, AOIISilver. I love that name! I am recently back in town and haven't had an opportunity to join the alumnae group yet. I am planning to do so this fall. It sounds like you are a member of the group here. If so, I will have to get more info from you.

Hi, Rubyrose! Welcome to Nashville! Thanks so much for the compliment on my user name. I am an Alum Initiate of Nu Omicron and am currently serving as the Nashville Area Alum Chapter Historian.
WE WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO JOIN US AT ANY OF THE NASHVILLE AREA ALUM CHAPTER FUNCTIONS!!! :D
The women in the chapter are awesome, and we have SO much fun together. Our philanthrophy projects are successful, too! There is a picture of some of the chapter members with their families in the latest To Dragma at one of our philanthrophy projects, the Arthritis Zoo Walk. Do you need any contact information? How can I best get the information to you?
Speaking of which...and this MUST be a stupid question...how does one PM (I assume this means private message.) another registered GC'er?
Sarah, SO glad to hear about the alum chapter up there. I am also glad that you have found a nice job and are happy! Congrats on the house!
Indeed, I am so happy that you liked your rose! I think that my husband is pretty awesome.;)

AOIIsilver,
I tried to pm you, but it tells me that you do not have private messaging available. I believe you have to go to User CP at the top of the screen and select edit options. In there is a place to select "yes" for enabling pm capabilities. Please reply back to this post and I will try out this whole pm thing which is new to me too!
Thanks,

Yes, actually I know both of them. Michelle and I were friendlier than Joanna and I since my roommate is the one that brought Michelle to COB (I'm pretty sure). Joanna was older than me, but best friends with the girl who preffed me. Also, Michelle took over VPE from me. My last meeting was elections, she did such a good job as VPE and also everything she has done since. I am so proud of her.
If anyone talks to Michelle tell her I said Hi, and to get on Greek Chat. I would love to get back in touch with her since I am moving to Atlanta :)

yep - know jill soost VERY well - she was in my rush group when i was on Rush Exec - it was kinda a funny situation - we all wanted her to go to our chapters (our rho chi group was adpi, kd and alpha zi and me) well everytime she had a question on who to cut (i don't think she ever got dropped by a chapter so she always had to drop chapters) anyway she always came to me for advice - and aoii was always one she was keeping and i felt a little guilty not wanting to influence her decision - but wanting her to be an AOII really badly - well you know the end of that part of the story - she chose AOII and we became fast friends - she and i were both the rubie A's for our pledge classes (our ruby A is given for outstanding pledge) we just really had a wonderful time together in college and since - in fact i just opened her christmas card yesterday - she was also the resident cc at pi theta and i did the expansion at pi theta so we got to share that as well - she is a great girl!! i miss her tons!!
she is one of our cns group (including finley and crews and such) that email regularly!! we keep each other sane!! i'll let her know how much she is appreciated!!

I love Chandler -- it's part of the Phoenix Metro area and we have a lot of AOIIs who live within 10 miles of me...Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe are all sort of connected.
If you or your mom need anything, pm me and I'll be glad to help!

I'm sure both Beryana and Silver will chime in, but unfortunately they won't be there. Beryana is working at the World Youth Day in Germany later this summer (she's posted about it here in our forum!)
Maybe we should plan to call the two of them while we're in Atlanta? :)

Seriously, though, feel free to call away! LOL I really wish I could make it, but can't justify Convention AND World Youth Day AND a new job (well, its not really new anymore since I've survived the first 90-days! LOL And when you work with people who have been there for 30 years, you will ALWAYS be new!)

Thanks y'all. I'm glad to hear LT is doing well. I know it's hard since the dorm was taken away. We have our 50th anniversary coming up next year! Also, I can't wait to join an alum chapter when I get to Baltimore. My husband is just starting to understand that AOII means a lot to me. He's never heard me talk so much about it until I found out we were moving to Baltimore about a year ago. He just shakes his head...he was 13 in college....he doesn't understand. He should though. Med school was like a fraternity for him. He was 17 and lived in a house with 3 other guys. They had parties every weekend. Anyway...

Hi, Angela! Sorry we got off on the wrong foot. Welcome to GC and I hope you enjoy Baltimore. My husband is a physician also. Is yours finished with school and residency yet? My husband was not greek in college but was in a medical fraternity called "Atlas" and I will say it helped him survive med school. He really loved that group of guys.

No problem, irishpipes...I hope there are no hard feelings! Check the message...I edited it for you!
As for my husband...yeah he was kind of a Doogie Howser. We're both MDs. I met him when I was a fourth year student and he was a third year student. He was 19 and I was 24! Let's just say my mom was not thrilled. Stephen is done with residency now and has been practicing internal medicine at the VA for a year waiting for me to finish my radiology residency. We're moving to Baltimore so he can start a pediatric endocrinology fellowship at Johns Hopkins (he did his residency in Med/Peds by the way.) I'm just going into private practice general radiology. Now he's 26 and I'm 31.
AOII Angel
05-10-2007, 04:08 PM
Anyway, I'll finish the story since I'm sure I'll get asked. Stephen started med school at 17 because he dropped out of grade school at 13. His mom said he couldn't just stay home so she drove to a neighboring town to get him into another school (the first just pissed him off....that's why he quit.) She turned the wrong way off the interstate and ended up on Louisiana Tech's campus. She stopped and asked if her son could start full time in college at 13, and they said yes. So, he started college at 13 and graduated at 17. And, he doesn't even have a high school diploma or GED!
