Beavers are a valuable source of education for our young people," ... Almost everything about beavers is good...

The girls were taught how to find the animals' dens and how to lay the traps. ... the girls used knives to skin the beavers.
The troop had the pelts tanned and plans to make hats and mittens once a dozen hides are collected. The girls also want to cook beaver meat.

True survival skills....

It's not roadkill if it wasn't hit by a car. I've never eaten beaver [insert pun here], but i have eaten squirrel, deer, elk, buffalo, rattlesnake, rabbit, turkey (wild, not domestic), duck, goose, quail, and so on. most of it is pretty good.

every once in a while, my grandma cooks a raccoon or oppossum for my grandpa, but i've never tried that.

It was just a joke. I didn't know that you could eat beaver... well, the animal. Anyways, I'm far from being an animal rights activist, but I thought that was a strange project for a group of Girl Scouts.
