View Full Version : Pet peeves...things that really bug you

What are some of your pet peeves...those things which totally irk you?

1. Tardiness - I never understood the concept of being fashionably late to things. Why bother telling people something is going to start at so and so time if it isn't going to start then? I am usually prompt to everything and the idea of keeping someone waiting is not in my dictionary. And I don't like to be kept waiting either unless it were a very extenuating circumstance. Once in a while is ok but if tardiness is a constant habit that's really annoying. And if the guy is late on a first date..that's even more irksome.

2. Cell phones & pagers on alert mode in movies, theaters, class, church, etc. - There are reasons why these forms of technology have a silent mode. Use 'em! Gosh. We all know that at least one will go off no matter how many courtesy warnings are given out. And when I'm on a date with someone, if his cell goes off (unless he's on call or something) it gets to me, especially if we're not meeting up with his friends or something where he would need to have it on.

3. Interruptions while watching tv, movies, etc. - Just leave me in peace. Got questions about the movie or wondering what's going to happen next out loud? Just watch it and the answer will come to you! Or pay more attention. I can never watching anything in peace at home because my parents and/or brother will always be yapping in the background and I can't hear anything.

People that root for certain colleges that have little to no affiliation with said college and feel justified in talking smack to alumni of other schools.

If you didn't pay the money or spend the time to attend said college, you ain't a husker, longhorn, sooner, etc. no matter which way you slice it.

What really annoys me is when I go to a movie and people are taking. They didn't spend $10+ to talk, but to see a movie. They should leave their VCR manners at home!

I HATE tardiness more than anything.

I also detest co-dependence in everybody, but especially women. Come on, get an identity that isn't your boyfriend/husband's!

1. Being Late

2. Going 30 mph on a highway entrance ramp (also going slow in the left lane)

3. Pompous Doctors at work who think they can harrass the nurses - blech

4. Alabama fans tee hee - those poor mislead souls - also fans that talk s*** like their #1 when their team isn't even ranked

5. Stupid people in general

People who don't return phone calls...or call me and leave that beeping message at 6am (I swear to god someone thinks my number is a fax machine)

Broken promises

SUV's that tail me...epsecially in the snow.

People who mooch...I have this friend and she's got money issues yet she'll want me to pay her back for the beer but I've bought her lunch and dinner and other things without expecting the same in return

and at work:

People who lick their fingers to get their rings off (buhhhhhh)

i still dont get why so many radford people hate tech so much.. my brother went to school there and i actually say what a nice campus it is everytime people talk about it.. it really is pretty..
but anyways..

my pet peeves are..

when people get in the right hand lane that arents making a right and sit at the light.. when they could have gotten in the left and let everyone behind them turn right who wanted to...

i agree with the going 30 mph on a ramp.. its suppose to be an area to get up to speed with the cars on the highway.. whats worse is when they get to the end of the ramp freak and hit their breaks causing everyone behind them trying to merge to almost get into an accident..

people who make comments every ten seconds in a class or presentation (like they know more than the teacher or presenter about a subject) why are you there if you think you know more..

i dont like stupid people either.. i get annoyed very easily with them.. bad trait of mine..

I HATE tardiness! I always try to be on time or even early if I can.

I agree with whoever said that about rooting for the teams you have absolutely no ties to. It seems that a LOT of people root for Notre Dame who not only didn't go there, but didn't go ANYWHERE!

Rude people. Hate 'em. I'm never rude to someone who isn't rude to me first and if everyone operated that way the world would be much nicer :)

Gilmore Girls=== they all talk the same Anyone ever notice that?

Plus, people who are always late. The world doesn't revolve around YOU!

Ditto on these 3 for sure!

People who don't listen. I don't want to have to repeat myself over and over. It's not forgetfulness it's plain ignorance. If you don't care, don't keep asking me about it!!

Stupid people that stand right at the door of the subway during rush hour looking for somewhere to sit down!! Look people you're not going to find a seat so don't bother looking!! Just get on the car and move in because there are 50 million other people behind you waiting to get on!
Also the stupid people that won't let other passengers off!!

Aww hell...stupid people in general, no... rather ignorant people. Common sense...it works so well...let's all try to use it, shall we?

-Tardiness
-People who are college-age and their parents completely pay for everything. Unless you are on a full-ride, there is no reason you can't get a job like the rest of us. And don't say "my major is too hard." Because I did it, and several of my friends who were pre-med did it. You just have to manage your time wisely. And no, I'm not jealous. I'm glad my parents taught me responsibility. I'm doing pretty damn good for a 23 year old!
-Fake people.
-Clutter and disorganization. I like things to be neat and I have a tendancy to want to organize everything.

Really, I'm a nice person. :D I'm just opinionated!

My #1 thing is when people touch my stuff without asking me. I hate it. I feel like the older brother on "Home Alone"..."Don't touch my stuff!"

And my #2 thing (but it's close)--when people call me multiple times a day for no reason whatsoever. If you really want to bug the living daylights out of me, do that. Aaaaarrrrgggghhh! Don't keep calling me just to be calling when I've already spoken to/seen you earlier, because I hate talking on the phone. :p

*People who talk a long time or post long posts...that is boring...and then get mad at me for not paying attention. If it's entertaining I don't mind long talks or posts.

*People who talk about irrelevant stuff or mundane stuff like what kind of toothpaste they used when they brushed their teeth that morning.

*Old people who walk up to me while I'm eating lunch to tell me their life story.

*Strangers period telling their life stories.

*STRANGERS OR PEOPLE I JUST MET WHO WANTS TO KNOW MY LIFE STORY!

*When people ask me how do I FEEL about something, I'll tell you what I think, but NOT how I feel.

*When people WHO I BARELY KNOW wants to hug or kiss me. I'll settle for a handshake.

*Speaking of handshakes, as much as I am anti touchy feely, I give firm handshakes...I expect everyone else to do the same, don't shake my hand like a little girl.

Big irritation right now...

My father's romantic advice - if he tells me one more time that I have to "take it slow" with the new guy I started seeing in August, I'm going to scream. That's all Dad ever says about anything. Since I live in Gainesville, adn the guy lives 2 hours away in Orlando across the street from my busybody aunt, and the few weekends this semester I get to come home I stay at my parent's house, I don't really have much choice to take it slow!

And if he's talking about taking it slow emotionally, that's junk. You can't control your feelings. You'd think they'd be happy that I found a great guy with nice manners, a well-paying job, good morals, no drug habits (unlike the last loser pothead boyfriend), etc. Great personality, but cute enough that you don't have to say "Well, he has a great personality." ;)

This guy literally might just be Mr. Right, as much as it freaks me out to say that. He is the kind of guy that every girl dreams of dating, the kind you'd want to set up with your best friend.

The really annoying thing is that he didn't say "take it slow" when I was with the pothead guy. True, I didn't tell my parents about the drug stuff, but there's no way in hell that any reasonable parent would prefer the last boyfriend I had to the new one.

Ok, I also don't like:
Spam email and telemarketers.
People who think all lawyers are scumbags and the few lawyers who actually are scumbags and make the rest of us look bad.
People who act like all Republicans are evil racist pigs.
Extremists in the feminist movement who attack you if you want to do things like join a sorority, get married, or have babies.
The laundry facilities at my apartment complex (the dryers suck!).
The current head coach (Ron Zook) and offensive coordinator (Ed Zaunbrecher) of the Gators football team. Those idiots are ruining our football team. www.fireronzook.com (http://www.fireronzook.com)!!!!!
My old cell phone company, US Cellular. My contract finally ended in early September after a year of erroneous charges, hidden fees, rude customer service, crappy reception, and other problems. I'm just now getting everything straightened out and they still owe me a couple bucks.
The fact that teachers have one of the hardest, most important jobs ever, and they're paid pretty darn close to nothing. The job requires a college degree, but 1st year teachers in FL can qualify for food stamps!

Nosey co-workers. There's this one guy who walks past my office 20 times a day and makes sure to look at my computer screen every time to see what I'm doing. It's so annoying. Yes, I go on GC every once in a while. But, I get all my work done, I work hard, it turns out great, and it's always on time. So, if I want to check on GC for 5 minutes, that's fine! Just stop breathing down my back and staring at my computer screen every time!

1) Females who complain about toilet seats being left up. I *always* leave them down when I know it's shared/used by women as a)I'm house trained & courtesy costs nothing and b) anything for a quiet life. But secretly? I just think if it's light enough for me to put it the way I want it then it's light enough for you to adapt it for use too. And don't give me the 'well what if we can't wait and fall in' excuse - bladder weakness on your part isn't my problem. But just secretly ;)

2) People who have **loud** conversations. a) you're not that interesting b) that won't change if you raise your voice.

3) People who ask how old are you? Personal question, I don't know ya, and given how accepted it is that it's rude to ask a woman her age I can't ask you back, Besides which it doesn't matter to anything. So why ask :(

4) People who not only don't come to something but who don't let you know they won't be coming. Who then, when they next see you say 'hey when are we doing suchandsuch'. Well we're doing it on x date.

5) Bad spelling. There might be spell checkers in the world, there's also a language. Learn it.

6) Spam.

7) Guys who think they're 'playas' though aren't, but still act as if they're all that plus a bag o' potato chips, plus a pepsi, plus a snickers bar. Arrogance and gall usually means you've got sod all.

Don't smack your lips--it's gross.

Don't ask me if I got the job I interviewed for--if I had, I would have told you, so obviously you know that I didn't get it. I wonder did a lot of people fell asleep in the part of driver’s ed where one is told to travel one car length per 10 miles behind the car in front of you. In other words, if you’re going 60 miles per hour, you are supposed to be 6 car lengths away from the car in front of you, not one. I think people fail to realize that if you tailgate a car and if they suddenly stop you are KISSING that car’s backseat! These types of drivers never want to use their brakes either. If the car slows up ahead of them, instead applying their brakes, they actually speed up to switch lanes missing the ahead car by a foot or less. Riding in cars with these types of drivers scare me crapless. :(

SHUT UP!

2) Sorry, Dionysus, but I only agree with you when there is NO traffic. In bumper-to-bumper traffic, you do NOT have the right to leave that many car lengths b/w yourself and the car in front of you....That huge gap of distance in front of your car is taking up my time! MOVE THE F!#K UP! GEEZUS!

4.) People who "smack" and make funny noises when they eat. The sounds gross me out.

5.) People who only talk to you when they need something from you. Also, people that ask you for something after they have just pissed you off. I'm not related to you, and we are not that cool, okaaay...

6.) People who have double-standards. For instance, if you complain that I am always late, and tell me to be on time, then you show up late, and expect me not to call you out...

7.) People that place other people in "boxes" and expect them to conform to the "norm". Like, just b/c I'm African-American does not mean that I shouldn't listen to alternative or rock music.

8.) People who talk extra-loud in public spaces. I DO NOT need, nor desire to, hear your entire conversation.

9.) Stupid people. They REALLLLY, REALLLY, shouldn't be allowed to procreate...

You mean cutting nails in front of you?
I once had a roommate who actually shaved her legs while in the same room as me. Ugggggh. She had lots of hair too and I could hear every single cut the blade me.

Another one to add to my list:
There's this one post office near my work which offers one of those drive through mailboxes. So when I'm in a rush I like to use one of those but I hate it when people have no consideration whatsoever! The parking lot is really small and if there are cars in front of me, they hold up the entire line of cars wanting to go in by just waiting there until an open space pops up. This one time a car in front of me actually had the nerve to park her car smack in front of the drive thru mailboxes and I was stuck there. Bleh.

The other things that really bother me are really silly.

I hate drawers that don't close all of the way because they are too full. I also can't stand teeny little pieces of clothing hanging out of said drawers. I will walk in a room and immediately tuck in these little snippets in order to shut the drawer.

I also hate "ring around the toilet" For goodness sakes, people, a toilet brush and bottle of Comet are not that expensive. Please use them at least twice a month!!! (My boyfriend is so guilty of this!!!)

Cattiness. If you don't like me, say so, and we'll try to work something out. Don't be such a girl about things.

Fords. They just bug me.

People who look all around the room when you are talking to them or ask you to repeat yourself bcause they were not listening.
People who park a part of their car in MY driveway.
Music so loud in the car/truck all you hear is BOOM BOOM BOOM!
People who arealways sick -go to the DOCTOR if you feel funny-awful-terrible-constipated...
Oh, and blow your darn nose, don't wipe it on your hand or sleeve.
