Did people see that? I thought it was interesting that they interviewed the "four real NY women" (or however it was termed), and they were two blondes, 1 redhead and a brunette.

I am SO happy the way the series ended. Although Carrie and John AKA Mr. Big have had some drama, I wanted them to end up together. I knew as soon as Alexsandr let go of her hand that she was going back to NYC. I was also happy when she found her nameplate necklace, I know I'd die if I lost mine also. Did anyone else notice that the show came full circle.

1. Carrie had on the same coat that she had on in the first ep.
2. Big said "abso-f'ing'-lutely" during the first show as well.

It was so sad to see it go. I cried like a baby.

I really hoped they would let Carrie be single but happily single. But, if they HAD to make all four women in monogamous relationships, I think this episeode was sheer perfection.

I wepted like a child during after and I'm still affected by it. I thought is was such a lovely episode and it's true, we're all looking for love. The incovenient, all consumming, all or nothing love and more importantly, we want someone to love the me that I love. I LOVE their friendships and was blown away by Miranda's storyline and even Samantha's too. Happy but not surprised how Charlotte ended.

Funny how all four of them ended with men they never would think they would end up with.

I'm tearing up as I'm writing this!

I just can't believe his name is John...it's so 'un-Big', but that was probably the point!

He's John Doe since it's still unclear what his name is.

I think John is brilliant because people something really sophisticated and trendy and something you don't normally hear everyday and John is as common as you get.

Brilliant!

I loved the ending as well. The fact that they didn't really make a big deal out of "Big's" name being John. I think it was kinda the point. You know Big being Big but having a normal name. And I like the fact that the scences with them weren't like falling in each others arms and crying and all dramatic. It was just them laughing and having fun...something Carrie never had with Alexandr.

Oh and when Charolotte got her baby. I was crying.

The ending showed how far each og the characters have come. Miranda was actually not so cold, Samantha really cares about Smith. Carrie ended up right whreshe began...however both she and Big are not the same people they were when they started.

I liked that Big said "It took me a long time to get here...but I'm here" when carrie asked him how he got there. Because it took him a long time to realize Carrie was the one, but he knows that now.

"2. Big said "abso-f'ing'-lutely" during the first show as well."

I originally hated that line, and I hate it now... It sounds dumb... Anyway, I wish whats his name would have come back... The guy that did her floors. He was the best, and she screwed that up royally. He rocked, and that would have been the best ending... I still think her ending with BIG went against the originall premise of the show...

I loved the last episode; it was absolutely perfect! I will really miss Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha, though :(

I have a question, though. In the scene where Charlotte and her husband were having lunch with the husband/wife redneck couple, what happened? I had to leave the room just as the rednecks said the baby was a girl and missed the rest of the scene.

That was such a good episode! I am really sad that the show has ended. :(

KR- The redneck couple told Charlotte and Harry that they wanted to keep the baby. Harry was mad and asked them why they even bothered to come over and put them through all of this. The couple said it was because they wanted to see NYC.

I haven't gotten to see any of this season, because we don't have HBO... however, I've been living vicariously through you all, by reading this thread... (that, and I own seasons 1-5, so I watch those just about daily)

Any chance anyone could do a decent recap of that last show? It would be most appreciated!

OK is started with Carrie going to visit Juliet (the Russian ex-wife) and the Russian had to cancel at the last minute so Juliet and Carrie had lunch and Juliet kept saying how she care for Alex, but could no longer be 2nd to art.
Then Carrie went to a book store and they happen to sell her book (in French) and met her fan club there (both people) who wanted to throw her a party. Carrie is getting dressed for the party when Alex has a "what if they hate my art?" moment and begged Carrie to go with him She goes with Alex and misses her party. They arrived at the opening and the art people are inlove with his lighting crap and he leaves Carrie to sit by her self. At that time she notices a hole in the line of her purse and she finds her "Carrie" necklace. She then know she must go to her party but she misses it and go back to the hotel where she met Alex and they get in a fight. He says they he made it clear in the begining that art was #1. Carrie then realized that she needs to be # 1 not # 2. Alex starts to walk away saying that he does not want to talk about it and Carrie grabs his arm which makes him swing around and he accidently hits her. She then goes does starts to get a new room (her own) and that is where Big finds her. She starts to cry saying how Paris sucks and she was just hit and Big thinks that the Russian did it on purpose. He starts to run up stairs to "kick some Russian butt" and Carrie is running up after him. She has to trip him to make him stop.

Then Carrie and Mr Big is in NY at her place and she invited him up.

Now on to Miranda. Steve and Mary (his mom) are at the table and she starts talking to Brady calling him "lit Steve" Steve is saying that he is Steve and what not. Steve then goes into the kitchen and talk to Miranda asking "is something wierd" Miranda then follows steve out and sees Mary acting "weird" again. Steve then takes her to the ER. He then finds out that she had a stroke some time last week. He decided that Mary is going to spend the night at his house and Miranda and Steve go to Mary's apartment to get some things. There they find the place thrashed and bugs everywhere. Steve is freaking out saying "no my mom, not mary" and "he will hire her a nurse, we have to" Miranda then says Mary can move in with them. *flash foward a couple days* Miranda is talking to Charolete over coffee (at Miranda's place) and Mary comes in saying she wants to take "litte Stevie to the ZOO" Miranda says that this is "brady" and Mary walks out of the room, Miranda then says that she is amazed at Steve, he is wonderful and what not and then realized that Mary was wearing a coat and runs to the door. Miranda finds it open and grabs her coat and Charollete talks care of Brady and Miranda goes looking for Mary. She finds her eating pizze from a garabe can. Miranda take her home and then bathes her. Magda see it and later tell Miranda that she is an angel and that she loves her family. Miranda tell Magda not to tell steve to worry him.

Now to Sam,

ok since Sam had chemo her sex drive in no more. Smith confronts her saying maybe she needs to talk about it. Sam tells him to MYOB. Now Smith has this Attilla the Hun movie to shoot in Canada and will be gone for 6 or 7 weeks. Sam tell him that if he wants to hook up with some one she will have no problem and that she actually wants him too. He does not want to says like the chemo has not killed her. She is now like a tree, and it is winter. She looks dead, but wait and see her when spring comes and she blosoms again and again Sam drops the conversation. Now we see Sam walking in to her office and her sec says she has flowers. They are from Smith and say some like "I will see you in spring" Sam calls Smith and says that she takes back that hole please sleep with some one and want him to wait for her.

We then see hom going in to her place at night and waking her up to tell her that we forgot to tell her something on the phone.... "that I love you Sam" and Sam says something like "you flew in to NY to tell me that" and they hug and kiss and you can see tears.

In a later see you can see Sam and Smith having sex.

OK and Last is Charollete.
They filled out some adoption papers and there is a couple from NC that are giving up their baby. Char and Harry open their home to them and the couple is eating and tell them that they canged their minds and they are keeping the baby. Harry is devasted and pissed off. Char understands and tell Harry that their baby will come. Harry asked if "God forgot their address" and Char replied 'we are Jews, be patient and that God loves them"

fast foward a couple days and Harry is bringing in the mail and opens an envolpe saying that they found them a baby. They will get her in 6 months from China and then he shows Char the pictureof the cutest little chinese girl with big eyes and a huge pink bow on her head (Carrie would be proud)

ok and the last part is when Sam, Miranda, and Charollete are having their bunch when Carrie walks in the door. Miranda scream and ever one hugs and cry.

THE END!!!!

This weekend may not be the swan song for "Sex and the City." The series' top executive, Michael Patrick King, and the show's cast is in discussions with HBO about a movie that would continue the saga of the four New York City friends, HBO spokeswoman Tobe Becker said Thursday.

Becker would not comment specifically on a Variety report that HBO is trying to wrap up deals with series stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis to bring their roles to the big screen

While movie adaptations of popular TV shows are fairly common, it's far more unusual to bring the original cast of a TV show to a movie played in theaters.

The final episode of the HBO series is to air Sunday with the question lingering: Will Carrie Bradshaw ditch her artist boyfriend in Paris and return to the city she loves and/or Big, her philandering former flame?

Edited versions of the HBO series will begin appearing on cable's TBS later this year.

kdonline
02-23-2004, 08:49 PM
But the most surprising part of the finale was...at the very end, Carrie was strutting down a NY street with a Manolo shopping bag in her hand. Her phone rings..we see the caller ID saying "John" ...

And it was Big!!!

He called to tell her his Napa house was on the market.

Aiden is married. Remember that episode where she ran into him and he was married with a baby?

Plus, she doesn't even talk about Aiden anymore...she compares everything to Big.

Seems to be a premise of many long-running shows... a keynote phrase to tie the whole thing together.

If anyone remembers the first and last episodes of Miami Vice, the last line said by Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) to Rico Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas):

"You ever consider a career in Southern law enforcement?"

I LOVED this last episode. Everything worked out perfectly, in my opinion. My favorite parts: when Charlotte saw the pic of the baby, the Magda/Miranda moment, Smith telling Samantha that he loves her, Carrie walking down the street at the end, and the reunion in the coffee shop. It was all just so great!! I enjoyed the retrospective before the finale too. Good times.

Did anyone else notice that the pregnant girl was played by the old Becky from "Roseanne"? Good to know she's still working.

OH HOW I CRIED!!!!! When Charlotte got her baby, what a cute baby!!! And the whole Miranda and Steve relationship was just perfect! I was so proud of her! Sam and Smith were too cute.... and of course when Big came through that door in Paris I was so excited!!!

I loved how they got back together! It was really perfect!

OMG, I cried so hard during the show!! I LOVED it!! I am so happy that Carrie and Big are together, I wanted that all along. And I cried when Charlotte and Harry got their baby-even though when the couple from NC was on there I burst out laughing, because I have so seen some of those people up here!!:p

Anyhoo, this is the coolest thing-when Miranda and Charlotte are having coffee at Miranda's house-did you guys see the teapot and tea cup and saucer?? That's my fine wedding china!!! :D :D I started screaming " OMG my wedding china is on SATC!!" And then I called my friend back home and told her. I live it!! It's by Bernardaud and the pattern is Galarie Royale Blue.....and I picked it out over a year ago, I'm such the trendsetter!!:p

God, I'm going to miss that show.

rainbowbrightCS-

Thank you for the wonderful summary! I was confused when everyone was saying that Charlotte got her baby, so you cleared that up for me!

I am really glad that Carrie ended up with Big. I know he has his issues, but really, she does too, and they have worked through so much.

How weird that it's all over. This is the first show that I've ever watched episode to episode (with the exception of this season, no thanks to the cable company). I can't imagine anything else comparing. :(

OK I've been watching someold episodes later and maybe someone will be able to answer this question.

When Miranda and Steve finally got married. Did they ever discuss what they were going to do about the baby's name. I didn't see all of that episode. But when the baby was born she decided to name him Brady Hobbes. Well when she married Steve, wouldn't her name & I guess the baby's last name become Brady---?? Maybe they didn't go into it on the show. I always notice stupid stuff like that. Anyone know?

Mirnada doesn't seem like the kind of person that would take her husband's last name (even though she married him and moved to Brooklyn, hahaha). I'm willling to bet it was just assumed that she and Brady kept their names as is.

Does anyone know when season 6 part 2 will be out on dvd in BLockbuster or something? I've been on a SATC marathon these past two weeks, watching a whole season in like two days! And I'm pissed because I rent from Blockbuster and they only had episodes 1-8 of season 6 and didn't know how many episodes there were. So at the end of episode 8, I'm confused/freaking out thinking they can't end it with just Char getting married, and with Carrie falling off the trapeze with her friends below her!! I need more closure than that! So I've got to hunt down season 6 pt 1 and 2....

You would think people would get the irony of that! But they don't.

I know a few girls from my hometown who moved here out of college thinking they'd be able to live a "Sex and the City" lifestyle on a publisher's assistant's (or gallery assistant or whatever) salary. Most thought they'd be able to live in their very own apartment on the Upper East Side (just like Carrie!), but they quickly realized that it was a 3-bedroom apartment share in Queens for them. Their parents were helping them out a little, but not enough for them to be able to take cabs everywhere, eat out all the time, go out to the trendiest bars four nights a week, and buy designer bags twice a season. Eventually, checks started to bounce. Cell phones got turned off. These aspiring Carrie Bradshaws ended up going home six months after being here because they didn't have a clue.

It's sad, really.

Last year before the finale of the show there was an article in the NY Post about how all these young girls moved out to NYC to be like Carrie. Then reality smacked them in the face and they realized there was no way they could have that lifestyle. Duh!! It's a tv show. Her life (and wardrobe) was a fantasy. Only Sarah Jessica could afford to live like Carrie. People should just look at the show as entertainment.

A friend of mine who grew up in Miami moved in NYC with some of her sorority sisters after graduation from college. They wanted that glamorous lifestyle that the girls from SATC have. Little did they know that unless you have A LOT of money, you most likely will not have a nice apartment on the Upper East Side, Designer Clothing, and you won't be able to go out to the trendy restaurants every weekend because they're not affordable.
They've managed to stick it out for the last year and a half but all 3 girls are crammed into a studio apartment and they're paying a ton of money for it. None of them have been able to find a decent paying full-time job so they're all working as waitresses.

I hear ya! Being an NYC native and hearing people talk about moving to NYC "one day", I always have to sigh and shake my head because I know what's coming: DEBT!

I don't think anyone single can survive in NYC (Manhattan proper) on a salary less than $100K net (AFTER taxes). And I mean having YOUR OWN 1-BR apt (very hard to find rent control anymore), buying groceries, having cable, phone, paying all utilities, and having enough discretionary income left over to live a decent life on. Add in gym membership, clothes, eating out/take out/delivery, and all the other things you WANT, forget it, you're sca-rewed!

No kidding. Mr. texas went to New Jersey for awhile for his work. He ventured to NYC with some co-workers and went to .. I think it was a TGI's type restaurant for a burger with fries.

It was almost $16!!!! That didn't even include beer!

Here you can get a burger with fries for $6.. and the beer isn't expensive either :p

That right there is the main reason why I always debate about moving cross the river, then ultimately change my mind. When I want musuems, Central Park, broadway, etc I go over and have a great day. Then I can come home and have a good burger at a decent price.

But the thing is, Carrie & co. are NOT right out of college - they are all in their late 30s! And Samantha is over 40.

I'm not saying that their lifestyle is realistic for a 37 year old; rather, these 21-22-23 year olds THINK they're just like Carrie Bradshaw. The truth is, they need to wait 14 more years till they'll be like her.

Being single in your 30s is waaaaay different than in your 20s.

I'm going through withdrawl. I watch the reruns every week and wish my 4 ladies would come back to me.
Can't wait for the movie.
