I'd say call up some of the local service offices in your area - someplace like a local shelter, homeless kitchen, Make-A-Wish, United Way, and let them know that you have a group of people willing to help out. The people at these places are always looking for helpful volunteers, and if you have a big group, all the better.

Have a food bank nearby ? Arrange for members to go one day to help with stocking food bank shelves.

At Halloween time, volunteer for one evening of helping with a haunted house run by a charity.
