Ok, time to start this board up again! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
What kind of philanthropy programs/projects do your alumni chapters conduct?
Are they tied in to your national program or local-community based?
Just curious as to how you make this work well when you don't have people together every day, as is the case with a campus chapter.
Thanks!

BFulton, there is no alumnae chapter in my state. I believe most of our chapters continue to raise money for our national philanthropy and also have philanthropies specific to their chapters.
Sorry I couldn't tell you more.

One of our national projects Big Book Bag gives school supplies to children living in shelters. My alumni chapter sponsored a popular happy hour once a month and the money was given to the Big Book Bag project. From what I know it was very successful. Also we take one Saturday a month to come together and assist at a kitchen that provides food to many of the shelters in the area.

I love the idea about the Book Bag project! I'll have to pass the idea along to my alumni sisters. Also, I think alumni members can assist with educating the public about various issues (nutrition, voter registration, etc.).

Most of my alum-chapter's efforts are tied in with the active chapter. Since we're still small (fewer than 40 initiated members, either active or alumna, in the Beta Chapter), and since we still have several alumna members in the Norman and north Texas, this works well. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I'm actually a part of an alumni E-Chapter (we meet online in our chat room once a month). So we're still trying to figure out what can be realistic projects for us to do. In fact, in anyone happens to have anything that would be feasible for members spread across several states, feel free to email me or post about it!!
