I can't find the old music thread! :(
Anyway, I just wanted to know what the deal was these days.
I am feeling:
Nas - "Made You Look"
Jazzyfatnastees - The whole new CD ("The Tortoise and the Hare")
Of course, J. Timberlake.
MS. JADE!! Y'all this CD is off the chain...
I am undecided on Busta Rhymes new song. Sometimes I bop, sometimes I flip the station. I dunno...
There is some new chick out named Valerie Green, or something Green...she has this smooooooth arse song out, and for the life of me I cannot remember what it is called. Bamboozled? Hoping you can help, lol...

It's Vivian Green and the song is "emotional rollercoaster"

Is it worth it? Let me work it! I put my thing down, flip it, and reverse it!! I LOVE THAT NEW MISSY SONG!!! I also like "Ching Ching" by Miss Jade. She's cool.
We al know that I'll always be down for Nas. I think that I may cop that new Jay-Z album, "Blueprint 2." I liked Jay before the whole thing with Nas. I think that he is still a good artist.
I am trying to get down with the mellow jazzy-type stuff. I'll have to check out Jazzyfatnastees and the others that you all name.
Of course, I love New Orleans bounce music! It still gets the party hype! :D

My musical tastes run the gamut, but right now I only want to listen to party songs. Right now, I have to dance whenever I hear "Gimme the Light" by Sean Paul or "Work It" by Missy Elliot.

librasoul22, "they shootin'!!"
Made You Look-That new Nas joint is so hot! Is it just me or is he talking about Jay-Z without really talking about him ("you're a slave to a page in my rhyme book")?
Busta Rhymes-love "Make it Clap!"
Missy-love her ode to anything but english. (itsurfemmenandyet)
Ms.Jade-Ching Ching & Count It Off
Mos Def & Faith Evans-love their joint!
Talib Kweli-buy this album, people!
***
Jay-Z: I am a die-hard Jigga fan but his two singles are a bit disappointing! I saw a commercial for the Blueprint 2 where he's rhyming about BIG coming to him in a dream and he's trading lines w/BIG...its hot.
I'll still be at the Music Factory to purchase his album on Tuesday.

The album that I'm feeling right now is Justin Timberlake's!!
Tuesday, I will be at Target to cop both TLC and Jay-Z ($10.88 for 2 CDs, I'm there:D )
Other songs that I'm feeling:
Syleena Johnson's remix with Busta Rhymes "Tonight I'm Gonna Let Go"
"Bigger Business" (Swizz Beatz with a whole gang of people)
Dru Hill's new song, "I Should Be"
"Juicy" by Next (yes, it is a play of of Biggie's song)
"He Is" by Heather Headley
And I know I will catch some slack with these last two:
"Bump, Bump, Bump" by B2K ( :o yes I know!) and P. Diddy
"Ignition" by R. Kelly (I'm sorry y'all but the man can SANG!)

Fort Wayne is no fun and so slow! There's only one black station here and they play the same isht over and over, so most of these songs I haven't even heard. I will be headed out to the store to pick some of these CD's up so I can keep up with the rest of the world. :)
I wake up to the radio and I swear if Eve's Gangsta Lovin is playing when I get up, when I come out the bathroom 15 minutes later, it's on again! I can't take it, I'm contemplating getting XM.

Yesterday I was thinking about how it was about time for her to release a new single. And last night, I heard a song called Final Hour. It was ok. I was really diggin' it at the beginning, but then she lost me. I have to hear it again. I have a feeling her CD will be full of pain (he hurt me, he did this, i felt like this, i left him, but i'm still writing about him).

Yall, I have been a CD buyin' fool this weekend!!!
Floetry: lovin it!! My faves are Floetry, Opera, and Subliminal. Subliminal is just the bomb, period.
Jazzyfatnastees: THE BOMB! THE BOMB! THE BOMB!!!!!!!!! #9 is just lovely. And #2 is in SPANISH?! Yall know I was charged!!! :) I love this CD.
Heather Headly: ok so far. only listened once... one song is really the bomb, though, #4.
Missy Elliot: Diggin' the old school feel that the CD has. One complaint, though. HOW COME she gotta say "This is a Missy Elliot exclusive" at the beginning of every song? I bought the album, I know who it is!
The other ones were replacements due to lost music in the break-up (it really was like a divorce, lol). So I replaced:
Musiq's first CD, BILAL :), and De La Soul (AOI:Mosaic Thump). I didn't realize how much I had missed my little cockeyed sexy man!! I listened to Poparatzi a good five times in a row, lol.
I will be picking up Ms. Jade tomorrow to make my Timbaland beats complete.
Oh, and there is NOT a Media Play here! I would have to go spend my fallopian tubes to get ONE CD at Sam Goody so I could use my Replay card. Yall know I am MAAAAAD about that. I am frugal. All the CD's that I purchased above were $11.88 or cheaper. I can't fool with Sam Goody. Busters.
Anyway, I am loving being back in the loop. :)

There is a song that I am trying to find...it's about a year or two old. I thought that it was by Tamia or Deborah Cox, but I am doing a search and can't come up with anything! I don't know the name of the song and it's kind of hard to describe, but hopefully someone catches my drift.
She is singing about breaking up with someone or something like that and she is talking about hearing songs on the radio, and she is like
"I don't want to hear a (*insert musical beat*)
...or a (*insert musical beat*),
...or a (*insert musical beat*).
Basically she was talking about hearing songs on the radio that remind you of him...it's not "Another Sad Love Song" by Toni Braxton, my sister keeps telling me that's what it is, but that's not what I am thinking of! HELLPPP!!!

I hope it's okay that I post this here -- if you're in Chicago and you want to hear a GREAT new song, tune in to "Chicago Power Hour" on Power 92 tonight from 11:00-midnight. They are going to be playing a song from a friend of mine, Hasheem. It's called "Give it to Me" and it is AWESOME. They are supposed to be doing an interview with him as well. I know I'm biased, but I think he is very talented and big things are going to happen for him -- so if you want to hear it first, tune in! :D

Ever since they came back out they have this new 5th memer, Scola. According to the other members, he's someone that has always been down with them and they just decided that the group would sound better with him. I think the group sounds the same as it always has except now they have to cut the check 5 ways instead of 4.

Greetings Sorors,
I enjoy real soul music, music that speaks to me intellectually and sprirtually. Not the overly commercialized pieces of soul culture.
Some of my favorite musical artists are as follows:
DONNIE www.donniesoul.com he is from Atlanta and has a new CD called The Colored Section. He has a wonderful voice and even has a song that praises natural hair (Cloud 9)
Common- the new CD Electric Circus, whenever a black male rapper can give a social commentary on homophobia, he must get props
N'Dambi- She used to be E. Badu's background singer (i.e. You Don't Have to Cry on the Live CD) she is awesome in her double cd Tunin Up and Cosigin.
Lewis Taylor- From the UK, Don't sleep he has three CDs that are a straight throwback to the Marvin Gaye era of music...simply awesome
Dead Prex- the album "Let's Get Free" nuff said

How is it that Norf Cackalacky has MediaPlay and the nation's capital doesn't? It's not fair. :(
Anyway, I came to talk about that new Angie Martinez song with Kelis. Has anyone seen this video? What is up with Kelis and the gold fronts??? At first, I was like, oh, the lipstick is original. But then I saw the fronts. And I've never seen her hair str8, either. She looked different. But the gold fronts? Bad move, bad move.

I bought their newest CD at the concert and will be purchasing the other two tomorrow. You know how you listen to something and it's just cool? But then you hear the group live and it's just off the chains? That's Fertile Ground. I think I might be a groupie, lol. The concert was just lovely. Good music, good people, good energy, good vibes. omg, that is Khia, lol. Please don't tell me that song is gonna get popular now! It has been out in FL for lik 2 years. It is actually a dance, the k wang. If you want to try to picture it, think of the dance Mr. Cheeks does in all of his videos. Then put it to Khia's beat. She kinda describes how to do it in the song, but it is like the easiest dance ever.
Ideal08 was right about that Fertile Ground y'all. I heard some of the songs, and they are good.
Songs I am feeling right now...
Busta Rhymes and Mariah - I Know What You Want
Fat Joe and Tony Sunshine - All I Need
The Roots WHOLE CD
Common's WHOLE CD
Also, there is a new chick named Ms. Dynamite...I like her style. Her new song is called Dy-na-mi-tee, and I have some others too, but that is probably the catchiest.

I just hear it on the internet. I also like it, and he does mention Left Eye. Other songs that I'm feeling at the moment are both Beyonce and Mary J's "remixes"of 50's "In Da Club". Both women use the same beat. Mary's is better IMHO. Here's a link to her version, which is called Hooked.

Yes, and the thing that I love about this song is that, even more than usual, he enunciates his words so well. A lot of times even when a rapper is saying something very positive, it gets lost in the shuffle if you don't listen hard enough. **think 50-cent's mumbling behind trying to do that song! ;)**

Blackstreet makes me nauseous! I think that once people reach a certain age/point in their lives, they shouldn't sing about certain issues (like sex). I don't want to hear Eddie Levert singing about how "Deep" he can go! GROSS!!! Therefore, it's time for Teddy to hang it up. He should stick to trying to get "Teddy's Jam" and some of Guy's greatest hits back on the radio.
