I'm sorry that no one with this young man's fraternity has bothered to post.

Let's not jump to too many conclusions here. Let's consider the chapter innocent until the police report comes out. I think that's one of the tenants our country was founded on.

This is a tragedy.

It was a tragedy last year when a freshman at at my alma mater got drunk, stumbled into a river and drowned. He was not Greek and not at a Greek party that night. He made a really bad decision and drank too much. He paid a terrible price.

Just before I met my wife, she had been out drinking with some friends. She had no experience with alcohol and ended up in the health center with alcohol poisoning. She has never been Greek. (Fortunately, she was OK.)

Delt does not condone Hazing. Am I foolish enough to think there is NO hazing anywhere in the fraternity? Nope. But as a Division VP, if I discover any in my chapters -- they're history. Period.

My point it that the chapter in question MAY be guilty of hazing. And they MAY NOT. Let's not rush to judgement and convict them by inuendo. They deserve due process.

Delt Alum, may I ask which organization you belong to? I ask because of an incident that occured on my college campus a few years back that involved a fraternity house.

Delt,
By chance have you worked with either the CSU or UNC Delt chapters, or the CSU Alumni Greek Council? If so, then I believe we know each other...

Delt Alum, did you ever hear of an incident at the University of Maryland chapter back in spring 1997?

DeltAlum,

Good words of wisdom! How terrible for their loss, I hope that there was not hazing involved and this was just a tragic accident.

Hmmm...
Let's see...

LXAAlum -- Yes -- both.
Karen -- No, sorry, but College Park is nice.
Valarie -- Ohio, (No, not Ohio State) You? Thanks
Mgdzkm -- Thanks

Whew! Did that cover it all?

No DeltAlum, I went to Cornell. Two years ago, a freshman non-Greek fell in the gorge one night after being thrown out of a frat party for being too drunk and trying to pee on the floor. Go figure! Very sad tho.

Hmmm, Delt, let me pursue this a bit further....were you the chapter advisor at CSU's Delt chapter around 1994-1995? If so, you and I did work together on the Alumni Greek Council, where I did serve as President that year.

Remember? If so, where did I work at the time?

DeltAlum, what school did you go to? I think I am an alumna from your school as well, because an incident similar to the one you said about the freshman dying happened at mine too.
You're very popular today! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
