Clothing Advice Requested

Hey! Soon I will be rushing at the University of Washington, and I'm incredibly excited. The only thing that I am worried about is what to wear for preference night. I have a dress from J.Crew that I am debating on wearing for that evening.

If I wear the dress, I will be also wearing my black stiletto heels and pearls. However, do you think that the dress is too casual? I need advice from all you veterans out there! Thank you! :)

I'm not famililar with Washington rush and I've not seen the dress in person, but I think that with pearls and heels it would be perfect. It looks like a very pretty dress, simple but yet interesting with the eyelet.

It's funny, because I was thinking about ordering that same dress in white because it's always so hard finding cute white things for initiation. :)

I like the dress... but a lot of sororities have their sisters wear black dresses and pearls on pref night, so you may not stand out as much as you would if you were wearing a different color. Just a thought.

I think that this dress is really pretty--JCrew is probably THE best place to buy recruitment clothes. It's true that most chapters at the University of Washington wear black dresses for preference, but a LOT of PNMs wear them too. (my now little sis did last year and she looked great). If you love this dress, then wear it!! I'm a little worried for you in the stiletto heels, but pearls are ALWAYS classic. Anyway, good luck in recruitment!!

Recruitment officially starts this Saturday with orientation! I am extremely nervous; yet, I am excited as well. Nearly every girl who has graduated from my HS that now attends UW pledged, and they love sorority life.

As to the other GCers, thank you for your wonderful advice! I am incredibly grateful for the advice you've given all the PNMs and me. :)

Good luck UWChica! I'm so glad to hear all of your HS friends are enjoying sorority life, I know I enjoyed my college days and love my alumna life.

but we were told not to wear black because all the actives wear Black to pref. Although you could still wear what you liked, we were advised to wear color because we would stand out more.

That said.... I love the dress, and think it is so beautiful. If you feel happy in it, go for it, and let your personality set you out from the rest, rather than a dress!
