Got ideas? We're supposed to do it on our second night of rush. But, we have no good ideas on what to do.
well it depends, how much money are you going to put into it. then you have the choice of do video not just plain ol' scavenger hunt. try using a theme. Like say we did night of the living dead...they'd have to find something at a funeral parlor, a cemetary, morgue, blah blah blah.

Scavenger hunts are listed as an example of hazing/risk management issues. . .HOWEVER, I know few chapters who don't do them.
I think it's because we as individual chapters have run safe and risk-free scavenger hunts.
Suggestions:
Like Q5 said, videotape the scavenger hunt. Mu Alpha asks that photos are taken. This way, the Brothers see that you went to the places you were supposed to, yet you don't have to bring anything back. (I think previously, scavenger hunts encouraged stealing and tom-foolery)
Themes are a good idea.
You could also do a Brother-based scavenger hunt, like each pledge gets obscure clues about certain brothers, and you have to find them.
Whatever you do, just take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of the pledges.
Also, check with your school's rules. They might ban scanvger hunts anyway.

How about scavenger hunts indoors? Would that take any of the fun away? Like you guys said this is sort of a risk management issue. We're having the scavenger hunt at night. Personally I think with the mosquitoes/WNV and our school being located in a not-so-great neighborhood, I think it is safer to have it inside.

well, it would be safer, but less fun. . .
there are other activities you could do that aren't scavenger hunts, such as the "Big-Little Challenge". . .basically a day where all the brothers and pledges do different activities and each team gets points. It could be a day of card games, board games, sports, etc, etc.

Indoor could work but it would depend on the space and what type of things they were looking for. I could see it going in at least 2 directions. What about a movie/video hunt?
