If your GED uses a GPA-type rating, that should be fine. I don't think that your having it will be a detriment. If necessary, you could also add your ACT or SAT scores to the recruitment application, in lieu of your graduating GPA.

Most groups have a minimum entrance GPA (for freshman) of 2.0 or 2.5. However, most groups will give preference to higher GPAs. Upperclassman are usually required to have a 2.5 GPA. These requirements vary within the various GLOs.

Thanks for responding.

Just one more thing: What if I wait until the fall semester and receive my scores from my first semester. Will my GED scores still be needed or will they need the scores from my first semester?

Your first semester scores will be more applicable to the situation and unless your campus has deferred recruitment, you could participate in Informal recruitment.

Good luck!

Beauty, the best thing would be to contact the school of your choice. My daughter was interested in three schools, after a year of junior college, and all three had different criteria for submitting high school transcripts. The one she is attending has a policy if you have 30 college hours, no SAT or high school transcript is even needed. But she had only 23 so she had to provide all high school info and all college info for rush. I can definitely say that if you have a great first semester, that will be noticed first because you have proven college success. My daughter had a much higher college GPA than high school, and she had a good rush.
Also, while grades are important for first round (particularly if you have a low GPA) they become less of a factor as rush progresses..personality and "fit" become more important. Good luck!!!!

Rush at our school did not require high school transcripts, however, first semester freshmen could not rush, only second semester. Their score from their first semester were used to determine if they would be eligable. Good luck!

I will be entering college soon for the spring2001 semester. Do you believe that a person who did not graduate from high school but received thier GED has less of a chance to be picked?
