Well . . you could always deny it and say it isn't true. . how did it spread ALL over work so that everyone knows?

But realistically, if you lose your pay for rain days, you have to accept that as a consequence of telling someone . . .

Why would you tell someone something like that?

And it is a big deal, both for you and others. 10 rain days could be a lot of money for some people.

At my job, if the director finds out people are talking about their salary then they could easily get fired.

Sorry to say, but you screwed up by saying it to anyone, even your friend. I dont blame the cook by threatening to quit.

This may be just a job to you, but it is a lesson you should take with you from now on regardless of whether they fire you or not. That is just one thing you dont discuss.
