I was wondering if anyone met any famous DGs... or has your chapter ever contacted one to come to your school? That would be awesome if they could and take time out of their busy schedules to come and talk to chapters!

Crashing your board! :)
I met a semi-famous DG...the Grand President (I'm not sure if that's how DG refers to them, that's what we call them in Kappa) spoke not only at my school to promote Rush, but at the 1998 Kappa convention. She had more energy than a roomful of toddlers, and she had a lot of great things to say.
Some of George Banta's relatives are trustees at my undergraduate college, and they own the football stadium (the Banta Bowl). Is he still alive? Just curious.

Mary Landrieu spoke at our Founders Day brunch a few years ago, however I have a sister who interned on Capitol Hill and when she met Mary my sister told her she was a DG as well and Mary kinda shrugged it off. A little disappointing.

I have met Senator Landrieu on a couple of occasions and she has been nothing but gracious and absolutely charming. She loves Delta Gamma and has several DGs on her staff. I guess she was having an off day when she met that one sister. Capitol Hill is just crawling with Delta Gammas - there are several Congresswomen who are DGs. I think there are more DGs in Congress than any other sorority - it is great! Go Delta G!

That is such a cute coincidence! I haven't met any famous DG's, but I do think it's cool to run into random people like that! I ALWAYS wear a DG sweatshirt or t-shirt when I travel. I was at the airport one time (while still a collegian) this older woman came up to me and said "I'M AN ANCHOR-CLANKER TOO!" We both had long layovers, so we sat at a coffeshop and chatted! It was really cool! You just never know where we'll find each other!
Sorry, if this got people off the subject!

For Big/Lil Revealing in the Fall we went to Disneyland and we kept running into DGs!!! Of course we were all wearing letters and the minute we got to the parking lot, ready to get onto the tramp....this older woman approached us and said: "I was a Delta Gamma in college too!!!!" She was there with her grandkids...it was cute! We all were totally excited!!!
Then, when we were on the trolly to get to the park, another woman...in her mid twenties said she was a DG at Long Beach I think, i cant remember!!!
Its just great to meet people at random who all share that special bond with Delta GAmma!!!!!!!
Btw, Revealing and Disneyland was AWESOME!!! Our PNMs loved it and they had sooo much fun!!!!

DeeGeePrincess I am envious of your Disneyland experiences! Do you guys think its weird. Just when I read your post two of the ladies said I was a Delta Gamma. I wish everyone could see that unless you quit the fraternity if you are once a DG you are STILL a DG even outside of college! I AM a DG! Not WAS, AM! LOL Princess I'm not picking on you at all just wanted to point that out. If I see random DGs I'm all like I'm a DG! Then act all crazy! LOL Like when I ran to see AJ! But that's a different story! :) (well I didn't have to tell her I was a DG, she knew that long before we met!)

I dunno about other states, but in California (mostly Southern California)... DG is probably the biggest sorority (or most prominent)... Like, there are literally DG's EVERYWHERE. Like you go the store - you see a DG, you go to a mall - you go anywhere -there's a DG... It's pretty cool.

Out of curiosity I looked up Delta Gamma on wikipedia.com, and Julianna Margulies (ER Nurse Hathaway) is listed as a famous alumna. I have never heard this one, and she's not listed on the "Noteworthy DGs" page of Anchors Online. I assume it is incorrect, but I was just wondering if she is a former DG, (ie: was never initiated or terminated her membership), or if it is just plain wrong. Just curious!

That's so funny! One of my DG sisters works at Disneyland as Cinderella and Ariel! We're taking over the Disney cast! :)

It's a conspiracy! Maybe Walt Disney's name is REALLY "George Banta" and has passed down the requirement that all cast members must be DG's.
Has anyone else noticed that some of our more famous members look like they could be from the same chapter? I mean Julianna Margulies, Patricia Heaton, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus all kind of seem like they could be from the same chapter. Even Holly from Road Rules, kind of. Just interesting... I wonder if other sororities have noticed that about their famous alums.

Doubtful...DG has no chapter at Sarah Lawrence, where she earned her bachelor's degree, according to one internet source. Although she may have pledged at a different school and transferred there.
