How would one go about finding a Live IN graduate Advisor?

Is there a "classifieds" magazine or website for this?

Also, are graduate advisors usually members of the fraternity or is it better to have non-members?

I know that I've heard that its better to not employ a member of your local chapter (you should find someone from another chapter).

Any info/help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

xp2k - when ASA still had a chapter at IU they had a live in grad advisor. (this is when they were still pretty new) She was from Central Michigan I believe - that way she had a perspective similar to the area but there weren't any inter-chapter dramas.

I want to make sure we mean the same thing - is this someone who helps with fraternity stuff, or someone like a resident assistant in the dorms, only in a fraternity house?

Ask your HQ.

SAE has a program for Resident Educational Advisors (REAs) who are grad students attending the same university that houses an active chapter. The REA lives in the chapter house and serves as an advisors. I refuse to believe that we're the only GLO to have come up with this idea - yours probably has too. Check it out!
