Has anyone ever heard of a foam party or something like that? All I know is that there is tons of foam. I've heard about them, but I don't really know what it is.
The E! Channel introduced me to foam parties when they did their Wild on Ibiza spot.
World Cafe in Honolulu has since had two foam parties within the past 6 months and I must say that they're pretty fun. The ones I've been to have had soap suds coming from machines on the ceiling.
It'd be nice to throw a party like this...but I doubt the Risk Management forms would pass...

A foam party is a bar party or exchange where the entire room is filled with soap suds (foam). Then, everyone just plays and dances in the suds all night. So, basically its just a floor covered knee to waist deep with foam. They are actually really fun until you wake up the next morning sticky and gross from the soap.
hope that helps

You might have your best luck asking a "gay friendly" establishment how they host Foam Parties. I have seen it on that show "Queer As Folk" and also, I have heard of gay bars having foam parties. They might know where you get the special machine to make the foam.
Or call a rental place and ask if they have a foam machine.

The brothers of Kappa Alpha hosted one at their house a few weeks ago. It was soooo much FUN!! My first foam party at that, just dancing all soaked up in a room full of people was great. Everyone wearing as little as possible;) The 1/2 naked baseball guys were also a hit:o

SAE generally throws the foam parties at my school. However, I abslutely refuse to go in the foam, because someone always ends up having sex in the foam undetected. The thought grosses me out!

They are fun, but get out after a few minutes because it gets really gross. Due to the semi-naked fun, people end up doing some freaky stuff that demands (in my opinion) a more private setting. Sorry to say this, but I've also seen people throw up in the foam. Have fun, but get out after a few minutes.
Ladies, don't wear flip flops, it gets slippery and you will lose them in the foam.

We had a foam party for our senior party. It was a blast!!! I have to second that flip-flops comment. They stick to the floor. Also don't serve beer in bottles or glass containers. The foam will hide any broken glass-ouch. We didn't have any sex in the foam as far as I know. It was six months ago, so I think we would have heard about it by now. The foam turns off and on so it doesn't get too high. I'm pretty short so I nearly drowned in it.
Another piece of advice-take a shower before you go to bed-no matter how tired or drunk you are. You'll thank me!!!

Sigma Nu had an alternative to foam party. For thier winter ski party. They'd fill a room in the house w/ foam peanuts. Safer and still lots fun.

We had a foam party for our first date event of the semester, and it was...interesting. I had never seen or heard of one before, so it was fun for about fifteen minutes, but after the novelty wore off I was ready to go home. I almost lost my shoes in the foam, I kept falling down because the slick floor made dancing virtually impossible, and I felt gross with a captial G because of all the soap. The next day, a bunch of us had itchy, flaky skin and some even had rashes (I guess they were allergic to the foam). I think the foam peanut idea sounds a lot better, because I don't think I'll be going to one of those things again anytime soon! I hear they're banned in the United Kingdom because they can be dangerous...

Every year one of the fraternities has a foam party...I haven't been but everyone who's been says it's a blast and everyone always wants to go. You just get wet and soapy and dance the night away.

Hey!
One fraternity on campus throws one every semester for a rush event..
its TONS of fun..
we don't have houses here but they get permission to do it on campus at one of the buildings...there is like a lowered pit outside that they corral off and stuff.. ive gone 2wice already and both times were a lot of fun.. the foam hurts when it gets in the eyes.. but other than that its definitly fun..

A few clubs in Knoxville started having foam parties like on the deck on Saturdays during the summer about 2 or 3 years ago. Im not sure if they still do or not. They always let the ladies in for free (if they wore a swim suit) - but after the first time or so, it just got to be where the guys who stand behind the rails and watch all the girls in their bathing suits dance around. They had a huge foam machine that blew the stuff everywhere. But take the advice of someone who said to take a shower, no matter how tired or drunk you are!

Yea, actually, we have quite a few foam parties that happen on our campus throughout the year. We went in on a biad on one, and it was alot of fun, the only problem is the soap gets in your eyes, and the next morning my eyes were bright red. Its makes for a great party though.

ok, so I went to a foam party this week, at a club here in MD, and the actual cool part about it, HBO was their filming, the whole thing. Anyway, the whole idea was really cool,I mean it 's still a little chilli out in MD to be having a foam party(foam=water=cold=being sick later). But we actually had a good time. So I say if your going to go , have fun and enjoy the foam. MAke sure if you do it, the weather is nice and umm warm :D

umm... i have a question
one of the fraternities on campus is thinking about doing a foam party, but what do you wear? does it ruin your clothes? I mean, should you wear something you never plan to wear again, or does it really matter?

I'd say wear clothes you don't mind getting wet. I wore shorts and a t-shirt. It'll get cold depending on the weather, but it still is alot of fun.

I highly recommend going to one! They are so much fun! Don't worry about your clothes, for the most part, it's just like you jumped into a bubble bath with your clothes on. I wouldn't wear something nice tho, maybe just shorts and a t-shirt (or bathing suit if you feel up to it  )
You do get a little sticky, but it washes off very easily, a shower is a great idea. Oh, and don't wear make-up, it comes right off.
As long as you don't mind getting a little unconventional for a party, it is so much fun! Plus, it's a great way to meet people and laugh and dance without the same old boring style of party.

Okay, I had never heard of foam parties until I read this thread...how in the world do you clean it up after the party? Is it like in a designated room or is it all over? If some comes in or leaves, does all the foam go out the door?

Hey everyone,
Both of the foam parties that I've been to are at frat houses and usually something is put down on the floor. However, that doesn't mean soap suds aren't all up and down the stairs and on the other floors. The pledges have to clean up after. One party, I think it was in the chapter room and the other it was in the dining room. I guess that was the biggest room to fit the DJ and everything. The other party had a band that played outside and that was cool too.

If anyone wants to go to fun foam parties this summer, check out Buzz, it's friday nights at Nation in DC. I'm not sure which weekends are the foam parties, but it should be posted on the website. There are awesome djs and it's usually only $15 before 11 and $20 after. I'll probably be there.:D

AOX81,
My first foam party was also at Cancun. It was at the club "Up and Downs". It was an absolute blast. As far as what clothes to wear I'd suggest to wear what you'd wear if you're going to the beach. If you're worried about the flip-flops then I'd go with an old pair of sneakers. They'll get soaked but if anything they'll actually get cleaned up in the long run.

I went to one of those once, at a local bar. It was super expensive to get in but a lot of fun once I was in the foam. You just have to watch out, it's really really slippery and foam in the eyes stings.

hey guys, im thinking of throwing a huge foam party (250+) for my fraternity, sigeps, heres the events im going have a dj, some local bands play, around 6 - 8 kegs, and some beer games such as a beer pong tourney. this is going to be held around the spring time. Heres the problems, i need a great location (its has to be outside), and the police. What are the laws in underage drinking and are there any loopholes, and how can i prevent my party to be broken up, and me going to jail.
and how should i advertise my party on party or just word of mouth. o and i plan on charge an admission fee of 7 dollars (too high or too low?)
and one last thing im planning on getting the foam from foamplay.com are they any good or should of get some1 else
thanks everybody for ur advice

First of all, underage drinking is illegal, that's why it's called "underage drinking". Second of all, in most cities, you cannot charge admission to a party where alcohol is being served unless the party is taking place at a bar. Thirdly, I didn't think people still threw foam parties, I thought they went out of style years ago. :p
Now, your best bet is to rent out a night club to have your party. That way, you'll have a DJ, the bartenders at the club will be serving alcoholic beverages to those over 21, and there will be bouncers in case any sort of fracas breaks out, for a price set by the club. Usually that price is around $1000. To lower these costs, plan the event in conjunction with another fraternity or a sorority (Of course, you'll then have to spilt the profits from your event evenly between yourselves and the other organization.)
For publicity, you can have 3x5 flyers printed up with a creative design for around $200 for 2000 flyers at any local copy shop, then either hand them out outside the student union or place them on windowsills, benches and tables (if your school allows it) once details are finalized. Also utilize Facebook, and word-of-mouth advertising to get your event noticed. And don't forget to invite people from other Greek organizations (not just sororities, fraternities too) to your party. Usually when Greeks have club parties here in Buffalo, Greeks are given a discount of $1-3 off of cover if they wear any form of letters to the club the night of the party.
For possible cover prices, you should take into account, how much overhead you have and how much profit you expect, add those two numbers together and divide the sum by the number of people you expect to attend your party, and voila you have your cover price!

They've been around since the 90s as far as I know. My first Foam party experience was during grad week down in Cancun. Club attire was your swimsuit on the dancefloor. There was a huge jet at the center that kept spraying foam everywhere. If you have the opportunity to go please go. It's a good experience.

That may be but keep in mind that in Cancun, Mexico most entertainment is old. That's partly why everything is so much cheaper there. Recent grads don't care. They just want to drink and revert back to the old saying, "When in Rome do as the Romans".

Okay, I've read people reference being sick afterwards because of the cold and it just being a gross venture when you factor in the stickiness, sweat, people being drunk, half nakedness, etc.
However, NO ONE has specifically mentioned how foam parties are perfect opportunities to exchange bacterial infections and communicable diseases with friends and strangers. When foam parties first became big a few years ago, some doctors spoke out against them and recommended people pass on this unnecessary and disgusting form of "fun."
It's even grosser than beer pong and bobbing for apples (maybe it's a tie). Where do idiots get these gross ideas for "fun" from?

WOW! It seems like everyone here dislikes Foam parties or at least not more than the first 10 minutes.
At our school Chi Phi holds a foam party every year for their philanthropy event. It is strictly alcohol free and everyone has to sign a waiver to get in, but the party is always sold out and completely packed.

Our Beta chapter has kinda made a tradition out of throwing a foam party every spring. There are a variety of rental companies that will ship you the machine, you're responsible for setup and damages, then you ship it back to them. We rented two machines, shipping and return included for a little under 800 dollars. There are tons of rental companies, just search google. As far as the whole slippery foam part, we had a drunk girl crack her head on the concrete where the party was. The next year we decided to look into wet foam alternatives and found out that they sell "non-slip" foam, which looks and feels exactly like wet foam, only it isn't soapy and people don't slip and fall, well not as often... :)

At my alma mater, SigEp threw a couple of those foam parties it was always the first party of the new school year. I think it was only for about 4 years I was there. I never went to one b/c they would have the foam party outside in a grassy field and it was pretty muddy and it just sounded really nasty to me (mud + foam). Then I guess they realized that wasn't cool anymore I think last year they started doing Highlighter parties, at least now it's inside and just a bunch of highlighters lol

We had one at Beta Sigma Psi this summer... they're really fun i think but you have to have the right stuff like... foam that doesnt transmit stds... we had it in a medium sized room because a big room would get gross fast because the foam would start to sink and a small room would be creepy because you are all foamy and touching everyone *gross* there are some people I don't want to touch when I'm all foamy =D So i would be aware of the space you do it in...
