Gee, I have so many questions tonight lol...

How is governance handled among a local? Who do you answer to in regards to alcohol policies, hazing incidents etc. I imagine that for a 1 chapter local, university policy would be all that would be required. For a multi-chapter local, do groups have a "headquarters" to answer to, or to each their own? How was it determined in your organization?

Those kinds of policies, dealing with alcohol and other related matter are decided upon by our alumnae chapter in Milwaukee. But, they are very limited as to what kind of policies and procedures they can set. Other than that, we basically decide on everything within the chapters, but the important things are always discussed with members of the alumnae board.

We are the only chapter of my sorority, but we have alumnae chapters in Milwaukee, Whitewater, and Northern Illinois. Our Alumnae e-board basically decides our fate. We do abide by our campus panhellenic rules, though, because we have to be a part of panhel in order to be recognized by the university. But, basically, we are self governed, and have been doing so for nearly 104 years :)
