The Old Capitol dome was destroyed by fire this morning -- for story see

It appears that nobody was hurt. I hope everyone in Iowa City is okay.

Seems to be more fires lately. (dry weather?)

goodness there really are lots of fires lately. Threre was a little one this past Friday night. Part of SAE's float caught on fire and burnt a bit of the fence around their dumpsters but no major damage*thank goodness* we were all at the Sigma Chi house for a birthday party when it happened and we foreal thought that the house was burning down b/c there were so many fire trucks and stuff.

i just returned home to chicago from iowa city - the fire started around 9 am as i was on my way to my literature class - it was crazy, all the streets were blocked off, classes in the pentacrest were evacuated, you could actually see the flames comeing out of the dome - a pretty scary sight considering the times and considering that it hits so close to home for me. luckily i don't think anyone was hurt - but the city will never be the same :( the dome really lit up the I.C. "skyline"

I'm home in chicago until sunday, so I won't be in Ames for the game this weekend - but trust me, i'll be watching from home :) and it's soo on - ISU is going down :p

Such another tradgic event. Glad that no one was hurt and that everyone is safe. Glad that you are ok as well Iowahawk :) Hopefully they will be able to rebuild it better then ever :)
