Alpha Sigma Phi just re-colonized at the University of Alabama and I was elected the philanthropy chair. We already have our national philanthropy (Livestrong), but we also need to a local philanthropy. How do you go about finding ones? For some reason I am having the hardest time with that. Another problem that I am having is running into community service, there is a line that divides the two and sometimes it gets blurred (i.e. donating time v.s money). Also, how did you come up with your events. I have got some help from the a few of the sorority chairs that I know on campus, but I am just feeling the pressure. Any help would be much appreciated!

Maybe something locally that goes along with your national philanthropy?

Nationally, Tri Delta's philanthropy is St. Jude, but locally, my chapter helps with the Oncology Ward of Denver Children's Hospital. We use the proceeds of our Fall philanthropy to donate to them, and we also try to go once a month and do arts and crafts projects with the children and their families. It's always a lot of fun!

I am the philanthorpy chair for my Fraternity, and we recently did a campus photo scavanger hunt with the local boys and girls club in our town. This was a good event because we got some middle school children who did not think about going to college to get excited about their education. I've also heard of many organizations doing an adopt a highway, its great for PR too.
