With New Year's being a long weekend this year, I really want to go somewhere to celebrate. I've discovered in my 2 years here that Charlotte is not a fun place to spend NYE, it's like any normal weekend night. So I'm asking GCers for suggestions for a fun New Year's Eve in a different city.

Criteria:
-Nowhere north of the Mason-Dixon line. I'll be up north for Xmas so I don't want to fly back and forth, plus I don't want to be cold!
-Somewhere that has a big NYE celebration. I don't like Charlotte because there's not 'one big party', everyone goes to a million different bars.
-Nowhere in Florida, I'll be there in January for a wedding.
-People have to be dressed up!

My friend lives in Nashville and wants me to come out there, has anyone ever spent NYE in Nashville?

Any ideas are appreciated!

Thought of Vegas, I know I could probably get a good deal on flights/hotels but it looks like entry to the bars is $150-200+ per person! Even though it's open bar, that's still pricey. Of course a few years back I spent $100 for entry in Atlantic City and it was only open bar for 2 hours, so maybe it's not such a bad deal.

I would suggest Dallas, but a lot of the big parties I've been to here are also around $100 pp

Ditto. Either there or San Francisco, maybe this club in Oakland that I like. I've never been a huge NYEv-er, usually at home with my parents, so I wanna do it big this year.
