Sigma Chi is proud to announce the three finalists for the 2009-11 International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, to be crowned July 4 at the 77th Grand Chapter in Charleston, S.C. The finalists are:

- Caitlin Mullen, KENTUCKY 2009: A biology major and a member of the Delta Gamma Fraternity, Caitlin co-led the Kentucky chapter’s weekly Bible study and created the Founders Awards for the chapter’s outgoing seniors. If selected International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, she says she ‘d like to organize a summer leadership and service opportunity in third-world countries for Sigma Chi undergraduates. :D

- Anne Small, DRAKE 2010: A double major in education and English, as well as a member of the Delta Gamma Fraternity, Anne served as “Derby Darling” during the Drake chapter’s Derby Days and helped to organize the chapter’s first post-Initiation Founders Day Banquet. She says if she is selected International Sweetheart, she’d like to promote values-based recruitment among undergraduate chapters.

- Alexa Stabler, ALABAMA 2009: A double major in political science and telecommunications/film, as well as a member of the Phi Mu Fraternity, Alexa helped the Alabama chapter raise $32,000 during its recent Derby Days event and co-organized the first Sigma Chi/Phi Mu Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Tuscaloosa cookout. If selected International Sweetheart, she says she’d like to organize an annual gathering of chapter sweethearts from around the United States and Canada as a way to share ideas to better their respective Sigma Chi chapters.

These three finalists will be flown to Charleston, S.C., for the Fraternity’s Grand Chapter, to be held July 1-5, 2009. Undergraduate Sigma Chis will select the 2009-11 International Sweetheart. Sigma Chi crowned its inaugural International Sweetheart in 1948 at the 47th Grand Chapter. To date, a total of 31 women have held or shared the title.
