Part "Real Housewives," part "Sex And The City" with a splash of Southern charm, making the reality-TV show "The Southern Belles of Louisville" was a life-changing experience for the quintet of young women selected to represent Louisville.

Kellie Frey, 32, Emily Gimmel, 24, Hadley Hartz, 26, Shea Johnson, 29, and Julie Smith, 34, are also excited about the role the city plays.

"It totally defies what people think about a city in Kentucky," Hartz says. "We're not all barefoot. When I go to Kroger, I don't have to pluck my own chicken!" Viewers will get a taste of Louisville's sophisticated, stylish side as the gals go shopping at local boutiques such as Blink and Dot Fox.

Thursday, May 21, the five will debut on "Southern Belles" at 10 p.m. on Soapnet, and they'll be live-blogging from the premiere in New York.

I'm incredibly homesick right now, but I couldn't watch the entire first episode. Please don't judge my hometown based on these "Belles".

I'm thinking Emily was in a sorority at UK? Not 100% on that though.

Interesting.

They seem like their a interesting group of women. Though I think Shea is freaking stupid with the boy stuff.

I am. But on delay since the Sox were on sweeping the Yanks.

I really don't like Shea, I'm kind of hoping he doesn't propose.

It's okay...not sure abou the Shea girl, she seems kind of overwhelming. She also seems very pushy to her boyfriend. I also don't think she is "old" Louisville money because most people with old money don't have to flash it and talk about it. But then again Louisville might be totally different than my part of the South. :)

I think that's normal for all old money. I take the women on shows like this and Real Housewives who are "high society" with a grain of salt. I don't believe most old money people would be caught dead on a show such as this.

Btw I really don't like her ring.

I agree.

I'm bored with the show. I stopped watching it.

That is so true. These people may have money, but there really isn't anyone on reality television with class.
