Welcome to GC, Lyssa! :D Down here, a Turtle Tug is a tug-of-war competition that is sponsored by DZ and involves any Greek organizations who want to participate. It's a philanthropy event, and the money goes to the charity of the chapter's choice. I don't know if a Turtle Tug means the same thing to other chapters, though. :)

I was jumping out of my skin!!:eek:
I knew the day before she got bid and I had to keep it a secret (NOT my best ability!) But we were both as thrilled as could be. I'm TURTLING the New Members (all 4 of them...LOL) after the formal announcement is made next week. (we do things a little differently here at Gally).

Thanks, again, for the idea. Am also interested in Rush/Bid/Sisterhood, etc ideas that you or anyone else out there might have. I'm excited to get things going!!

At my school we do a Jello Slurp off. Its a lot of fun. We arrange about two big scoops of jello on plates and teams of 4 compete to see who can finish theirs first. (The second person cant go until the first person is done with their jello). All of the Fraternities and Sororities as well as other campus organizations enter and compete. The way we raise money is an entrance fee (for groups and to watch), and have a raffle of donated gifts. Feel free to e-mail me if you want more info.

I'm new and wanted to post some tid-bits about myself...

Name: Alecia Soyk Manning
Chapter: Alpha Theta (init. 1993)
College: U. of Kentucky (grad 1996)
Now in: Westerly, Rhode Island

I have been married to my husband whom I met in college for nearly five years. He was one of the houseboys and spilled ice on me...i was hooked! We have a beautiful Legacy, Anabelle Lee, who is 18 months old. My family is steeped in DZ, my mom and aunt were both DZ's, but at DePauw in Indiana in the late 50's. I am an Audiologist working for a 5 doctor ENT group. I'm originally from Seattle, Washington, and miss it now and then. While at college, the chapter was struggling with membership, but I'm proud to say that they just recruited 49 girls (quota was 53), a far cry from the 3 and 4 member pledge classes I remember. I will say that a small chapter allowed a couple of perks. 1. I knew all my sisters very well as we all lived in the house, and 2. I got my own room for 2 years in a row. I am Currently president of the Rhode Island Alumnae Chapter, which I organized, and will be an advisor for the Beta Alpha chapter at URI starting this year. My master plan is to be so involved while my daughter is growing up that she'll see how wonderful being part of a sisterhood can be and, of course, want to rush when she goes to college. DZ would be awesome, but really I want her to go somewhere she feels comfortable.

Anyway, that's pretty much me in a nutshell (how did I get in this big nutshell???) I'm going to try to figure out how to do the great signatures with the letters and colors now to spice up my posts. I'm also in the SS group, so i've got a lot of posts to read. I can't wait to be a part of this group also!!!

Hey y'all, I just recently moved up to Memphis, TN because of Hurricane Katrina. I was a DeeZee at the University of New Orleans but now I am going to school at the University of Memphis.
